I really like the new song, even the last part. Maybe its a little contrived, but I think Miliyah was being honest with it, it just kinda comes off that way.

Love this song!

I think it'll be in my top -recent- songs by her haha.

blackmage 28th December 2014 07:14 PM

Shounen Shoujo is purely amazing, I love it! I listened to the previews and Higher and FASHION sound so good. I am definitely going to buy this :)

Kacku 28th December 2014 08:32 PM

Shounen Shoujo is a great song, I'm glad Miliyah is changing things up a bit. Higher is also a good song, though not everything the preview promised. I can't wait to hear the whole single, this is a promising beginning for the next year.

Corvina 28th December 2014 10:20 PM

The song is great. Her voice sounds especially amazing!

NintendoHTF1242 29th December 2014 09:29 PM

I actually wasn't interested in listening to the song till you guys kept talking about the "ending" so decided to give it a listen.

I was expecting some death metal or something from this ending, but it's just her singing with a choir? lol didn't really like the choir part but the very last few seconds is beautiful. I'm actually pleasantly surprised. Haven't followed her since HEAVEN lol.

^ I hate choirs with a passion. I would've preferred death metal :laugh

少年少女 official lyrics: http://www.uta-net.com/song/177045/

I really like the lyrics, so I translated them~
Spoiler:
Boys and girls

There was a girl in a city she didn’t know
She was a girl with an incredibly ugly face
She felt like cutting her face with a knife whenever she saw it
“That girl is ugly, such a poor thing”
Someone whispered mockingly
“There’s no way she’ll ever be happy”
The girl hears those words and closes her eyes

Boys and girls, run!
Sweat, cry and shine
Boys and girls, run!
Clench your fists and shine

The boy gets yelled and cursed at
He looks down, his face blank
“You should just disappear already”
Hard fists strike his cold cheeks
Damn it, it’s not my fault
I don’t know what justice is anymore
Damn it, what’s at fault is my bad luck for being born in this era

Boys and girls, run!
Sweat, cry and shine
Boys and girls, run!
Clench your fists and shine

She was perfection itself
She could buy anything she wanted
Smart and kind
All the pretty girls looked up to her
But she’s alone
She has no one who will hold her close
No one knows she always sleeps alone in a cold bed

Boys and girls, run!
Sweat, cry and shine
Boys and girls, run!
Clench your fists and shine

Boys and girls, run!
Boys and girls, run!
Boys and girls, run!
Boys and girls, it’s time to start on your journeys

^ As always, thank you so much, tenshi! I love the lyrics so much.

chocopockymaster 15th January 2015 05:06 PM

Oh thank god the single version of Shonen Shoujo is different from the PV, lol. No chorus to be found!

thinkingoutloud89 15th January 2015 07:42 PM

^lol there is a chorus, no choir

I dont like the single version as much...the choir ending was so much more touching...I hoped for a better mix for that ending.

chorus
[kawr-uh s, kohr-]
noun, plural choruses.
1. Music. A group of persons singing in unison.
2. (in an opera, oratorio, etc.) Such a group singing choral parts in connection with soloists or individual singers.

Chiharo 16th January 2015 11:30 AM

What I don't like are the robotic backing vocals at around 3:02. I don't really see what where they going after by using them.

thinkingoutloud89 16th January 2015 10:27 PM

^maybe we get a better album version like with ROMAN

No_Doubt 21st January 2015 02:01 AM

I'm curious to try out her music. Where should I start?

thinkingoutloud89 21st January 2015 07:54 AM

^M BEST / HEAVEN

tenshi no hane 21st January 2015 07:55 AM

^ You could try her album Heaven. It's most people's favorite.

To be honest all of her albums are amazing, and it's impossible to know which album will click with you first the best, so I think the best thing to do when trying out any artist is to make sure you've listened to everything they've released (meaning you make sure you have all their albums and then randomly listen to any songs you can). I don't think this is such a big deal in this age seeing as getting Miliyah's albums shouldn't be difficult at all. (Beside, if you're really curious about her music, I don't think this should be such a problem.)

Basically if you're patient enough, you will definitely like almost anything Miliyah has put out by now. The way I do it is always get an artist's latest album and start from there, then build up until their first album. Or you could simply start with singles, or watch some PVs first to determine which single/album would be the best for you to try out. I think Miliyah is definitely worthy of giving her extensive tries and downloading most of her stuff. She writes her own music for the most part and her voice is unique and great compared to a lot of Jpop artists, as well as take note that most of her music is produced a lot better than a lot of other Jpop stuff (her albums sound good and got at least some of the dynamics left untouched).

While a lot of people might suggest HEAVEN, I personally disliked that album when I heard it a first few times, point being that everyone's tastes are different. And you probably know by now that the first album you try by any artist is likely to make a big first impression of them, and will have greater chances of ending up with being your favorite by that artist because it was after all your first encounter with their music.

All I'm saying is that, knowing Miliyah's discography extensively, there is literally no wrong album you can go with for a first try. So basically, have fun exploring! And if the first album you chose to try is the one you don't really like, don't give up just yet. You'll be really happy that you didn't in the end.

Sorry for the length.

thinkingoutloud89 21st January 2015 01:34 PM

^true. I suggest HEAVEN beacuse it had the song that were really easy to get into, despite songs like Silent Ocean. i would also have said Ring, but like all her albums uo to HEAVEN, it had some very weak songs which I still can't remember. LOVELAND also wanst her best effort in that sense to me.

Another way to get into her is, to create a playlist of a recent tour (M BEST, HEAVEN) and listen to that.

NintendoHTF1242 21st January 2015 06:24 PM

HEAVEN is her most flawless album. Has everything you could ever want out of a flawless Japanese album.
