fanmail 4th June 2008 05:09 PM

^ oh there's a DVD too? i didn't know that -.-" well even so! they don't need to release the album AGAIN. they could keep the songs for a new album or something =\

Melon Panda 5th June 2008 01:07 AM

I think Rihanna's management is somewhat nervous about her next album and its high expectations, so they released two new songs on a repackaged version of a hit album for safety reasons.

I think so too. As much as I hate rereleases though, this is only the first rerelease of GGGB so I don't understand the whole "don't rerelease it again" stuff.

I'm thinking her record label is probably mad that she's one of the hottest artists out there, but the album has definitely underperformed in the States. 1.3 million is strangely low after having 4 top ten hits, 2 of which reaching #1. They probably want the album to sell another million or so, so they're rereleasing it. She's taking a page right out of Mimi's book with this one.

sibby 5th June 2008 01:02 PM

omg i suck fanmail. HAHA oops. >_> (but i really wish my friends buys it though. oh well @_@)

oops T_T

wow at the tracklisting O_O

I don't like Rihanna's hairdo now . I like it during the Umbrella era but her current do's like boyish & etc .

She looked unusually old in the PV for If I Never See Your Face Again with Maroon 5 though

I don't like her lipstick colour in there

Disturbia debuted this week at 18 on the Hot 100, her highest debut thus far! Hopefully radio will embrace the single (which is pretty much inevitable), because I fear digital sales might stall pretty quickly otherwise. Like I said though, I'm extremely confident Rihanna has another sure-fire hit on her hands.

I actually decided to pick up the rerelease simply because I adored GGGB so very much. Admittedly, the rerelease is pretty pointless and makes what was originally a perfectly paced pop album feel unnecessarily bloated, but Disturbia and the packaging alone make up for it. The new turqouise/red colour scheme on the cover looks awful in pictures, but in actuallity it's very shiny and metallic and classy and beautiful.

Take A Bow is still mind-numbingly uninspired though. It's most definitly a decent song and a smart single choice given how Americans seem to jump on any sassy female breakup anthem/Irreplaceable clone, but it hardly fits the tone of the album.

After Disturbia, I really hope Breakin' Dishes finally sees a release. Sure, she's been milking this thing long enough, but I really think its the only other song she'll ever have that has the potential to come even somewhat close to the massive success of Umbrella.

I think so too. Disturbia is a fantastic song and far better than the horribly dull Take a Bow. Like you said, it's decent enough but it bothers me that people can release boring songs like that and people here will eat them all up. There's far too much dull R&B getting success here in the states.

I'm picking it up as well for the same reasons, even though I also own the original release. I do think the cover is much better than the original, but it bothers me that they couldn't have just done another shoot for a new cover. The whole "recycling the same image with pretty metallic colors" thing seems pretty cheap to me. I think Disturbia will be the last single from GGGB though. I don't see Breakin' Dishes happening, even though it was rumored long ago. I would love for it to happen, but I don't think it will. Now with the rerelease, releasing a song from the original version as a single doesn't seem like something they would do (unless they're REALLY desperate for her not to release anything new).

qwerty 30th June 2008 09:28 AM

Rihanna's new material sounds so much better than her debut music. My copy of GGGB should arrive today, and I can't wait to listen to all of the tracks. I already love "Umbrella," "Don't Stop the Music," and "Disturbia." :heart

PSYCHEDELICOdust 1st July 2008 06:39 AM

I've had Breakin' Dishes STUCK in my head for like 3 days now.

argh i love it.

Partino 2nd July 2008 05:40 AM

are there any "non-wiki-based" news of "DISTURBIA" .. like hows the PV is going to be like ... who are the remixers of this song .. stuff like that ... I've been so waiting for a release of DISTURBIA as a single that I simply can't wait for it till it finally comes out .. sorry if that comment makes no sense at all, but I'm tired as hell and typing is the only thing that keeps me up at this hour.. I can't drink any coffee for .. well ... a long time .. cause my stomach can't handle it anymore ... soo ... and sorry for the off-topic going :laugh
