Both Tokyo Nights and Uso Mitaina I Love You! are some of my most favourite songs ever! But then again... I could say that about any Hikki song! Even my Mum loves Tokyo Nights! ^ ^

anyway, this is random, but am i the only one who loves "tokyo nights" and "uso mitai na i love you". i'm currently listening to them and they've always been part of my favorite utada songs. :P

I love those two songs too! Two of my all-time faves.

And yay for English album! :D

Melon Panda 2nd September 2008 07:25 PM

So that's what she was penning lyrics for. I wonder how her experimental-pop style will play into her English album?

CoriKaru 2nd September 2008 08:50 PM

I actually read somewhere way back when, when I first received "DEEP RIVER", that "Tokyo Nights" was the most "Japanese-esque"/"Japanesy"/"Japan-esque"/"Japanese Influenced" song on the entire Album.

Ummmmmm, what? For me that's probably one of the most American-influenced.

^That's weird. IMO, Tokyo Nights sounds nothing like japan-esque, but more mid-evil-esque. =/ If anything, Sakura Drops was the most japan-esque song on Deep River. Deep River was a masterpiece. All the tracks are too hard for me to choose as my favorite song on there except for Uso ni Mitai I Love You. I really dislike that song. It's just so irritating and outta place on the album.

Have to give Utada props for her "Rockin'" though.

I think if I had to choose now what my favorite song off of "DEEP RIVER" is, I think I'd have to pick.......hmmm...............can't choose. Nothing really stands out as my favorite.

As time has gone on, I've kind of lost interest in ones that I once was crazy about.

I actually never caught a STRONG liking to "Simple and Clean" or "Hikari".

I had actually already played "Kingdom Hearts" and was a follower of Utada before I was even aware of "Simple and Clean" and "Hikari" and once I became a follower of Utadas', I was like, "Oh? She sung for Kingdom Hearts? What song is that?"

I just couldn't remember anything about it. Then I went back and listened and was like......"Meh."

"Passion" is a whole other story though. I was in love with "Passion" before I even played "Kingdom Hearts 2".

lol same here. :P it seriously feels like yesterday that i saw the kingdom hearts CM on TV, and simple and clean was playing in the background. plus, i also saw an article about her in a gamepro magazine back then. :P

CoriKaru 3rd September 2008 05:12 AM

Oh yeah. I must note. The first time that "Simple and Clean" did really catch my ear and stick with me was during the "Kingdom Heart" Commercials for the Gameboy Advance Game. That's when I started liking it a bit.

[kokoro♥] 3rd September 2008 05:13 AM

^^ omg same ._.

Thats how I found out who sung the song.
The article said something about her being japans "Brit" I think @_@

Same. I actually think she and Ayumi were the reason for 90% of Americans getting into Japanese music (Hikki moreso though cuz of her English work).

CoriKaru 3rd September 2008 05:32 AM

Oh yeah. We've all heard that comparison. WE as followers of her know they more than likely meant "POPULARITY" Wise. But non followers make mistake that comparison as a correlation for the quality of music between the 2, which couldn't be farther from the truth.

About that "Kingdom Hearts" Gameboy Advance Game. I never did actually play it. Ha.

Maybe one day I may start looking for it. That is, if I ever began to care.

:yes I got into JPOP from Ayu and then Hikki. Ayu first because of Dearest XD
Then Hikki for KH.

Luv ~Venus~ 3rd September 2008 07:19 AM

Most of the onliners I've talked to (which is a fair amount lol) said it was because of Hikki they got into jpop. Simple and Clean really brainwashed gamers into finding out about jpop. Most of them say S&C is their first jpop song eva (even tho it's a-pop). :laugh I thought KH was a great game but the popularity it recieved really blew me away. DDD: OMG, don't even get me started on KH2. It was like every gamer had to buy it when it first shelved. :lmfao It was worth it tho. KH2 started out good and end good.

Yes, I think Hikki has also gained a sizeable amount of supporters who only like her and no other J-Pop artists. Lots of casual fans.

Beauty4123 3rd September 2008 03:16 PM

i never finished KH2, got stuck on some level and just gave up, LOL. :P

Luv ~Venus~ 3rd September 2008 04:09 PM

^OMG! Me too Beauty! :laugh the only reason why I saw the ending was because my lil cousin beat the game before me. XD As for KH1, let's just say I haven't given the game enough attention to even think about playing it. The only reason I knew what happened at the end was because I saw it on youtube. :lmfao But hearing Simple & Clean, did make me wanna paly it tho.
