I think we all need to hope this hits 150k and we should be lucky. That's a big drop. I'm assuming the first day numbers were a lot of the fans buying the special editions (2 DVD version and photo book edition.). Now all we're left with is mostly casual buyers.

what the ****? this is embarrassing -- not for kuu, IMO, but for avex and all those shmucks in charge of the promotion this time around. kuu's one of the major acts in the jpop scene right now, yes? if you don't count idols and imported korean acts (which i don't lol because i think they're just... no), that is. numbers like this are just a disgrace. this is freakin' single sales level right hurr.

setsuka 26th January 2012 02:46 PM

it is bad,but no should be surprised

avex done goofed this time on Kuu

The production is amazing throughout, but I can't help but feel that barely any of the songs have any real standout melodies or hooks. While I'd say that it seems to be her second most consistent album next to BEST~ss~, I wouldn't exactly rank it her second best at this point. Then again, that's only after the first listen and not in order (since the order on the DVD is by genre). I'm sure it will grow on me with time. At least I can say for the first DVD and amazing packaging alone, I don't regret the purchase.

^ I completely agree with you. To me this album was nothing special due to its incessant use of "safety net" compositions and weak bridges/choruses. Many Kuu fans/stans that I personally know were highly disappointed with the album which greatly surprised me and refuse to purchase the album. The songs simply did not grab their attention in any way shape or form. It just seems with each new album she releases the more discontented I become. :shrug

Bad Wolf 26th January 2012 02:56 PM

^ this does not bode well. D:

MissElin_ 26th January 2012 03:05 PM

Wow the sales are low. Very low. I'm quite supriced. No. Very supriced. It's really not fair. But the J-pop queens are for the moment less popular than those k-pop groups.

Chiharo 26th January 2012 03:12 PM

LMAO I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks JAPONESQUE wasn't all that epic like people portrayed it.

Heavenly 26th January 2012 03:13 PM

YesAsia say that my order is ready to be shipped...

Ready to be shipped, ready to be shipped... Then SHIP IT dudes, please ! T___T

That is pretty amazing.. it's almost like they listened to the song and made that video.. lol

MAN! that sucks.. poor koda... maybe she planned the baby so she can bow out respectively before she just doesn't sell anything anymore.. lol

I wonder how the album is doing download wise??

setsuka 26th January 2012 03:23 PM

number 3 on itunes, I dunno about the rest,I am not too concerned
(and of course Brave is the most popular track)

her sales are low because of her labels action but even so in two days she outsold 3/4 of the other Jpop females so her career is no danger, really every Kuu fan I know loves the hell out of this album XD

I dunno Kuu for me gets better each year

Minttulatte 26th January 2012 03:28 PM

Wow, those sales are surprisingly low, to be honest. I thought album would read near 100K sales today but no. I hope JAPONESQUE won't become a flop though because that's when I'll get angry. D: JAPONESQUE is a awesome album and deserves better sales. ;__;

TeamAyu2004 26th January 2012 03:31 PM

^ actions? From what I understand they did a lot.. Posters, CM's... tie-ins?
What else is there? Promotion on the net

ARGH same for me!! (CD+DVD)

Well at least CDJapan shipped my copy yesterday. (CD+2DVD)

setsuka 26th January 2012 03:45 PM

she had zero tie-ins for this album,no promotion till the week before or even cms,no live performances , lol they didn't even feature her new album on their youtube page

trucks and poster are standard for almost most Jpop releases, like Crystal Kay and she barely sells

I mean avex acted really slowly but even then they haven't done much for this album safe release it

anyway I am not pressed about sales, they don't reflect anything on the album, if she recorded pop perfection she would still get these sales

:hi5 Yes, yes and yes. The only songs I feel the want to listen to are Love Technique, No Man's Land, and IN THE AIR. For me, the one's I love aren't even some of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES (besides IN THE AIR but that is a single track). This album is just so boring for me because of this.

They clearly did put a lot of effort into production though. I mean, the photoshoot was amazing, the arrangement and overall quality of the music was great (despite the songs themselves being blah), they went all out with the packaging and having high quality PVs for every single track... So what exactly was avex's strategy here by having so little promotion? They basically shot themselves (and Kumi) in the foot by putting ALL THAT EFFORT into this album and then hoping it would sell itself. What a bunch of idiots. avex should no by now promotion can do wonders - I mean, look at how much the promotion for BEST ~first things~ and the 12 singles project affected her career. Not saying she could ever attain that kind of peak again since she was very FRESH yet, but she still has the power to impact the market with promo. But I guess it is hard to say without the Japanese perspective.

Hell no for the sales. Just.

Heldin 26th January 2012 06:20 PM

Hey guys, I'm not so much in the Koda stuff, mostly, I'm an Ayu listener, but I feel I just have to say that: this album is absolutely epic! Each and every song. I'm not so into dance and r'n'b music, but when I listen to BBB I feel like dancing and screaming, no matter, where I am. It's funny, I couldn't even listen to her recent singles, but when I found VIP, KO-SO-KO-SO and even Ai wo tomenaide it felt just like a little discovery for me. This album is a great mix of rhythm, melody, beat, sex and dance. It'll warm me up during the cold winter. Definitely!

@Luna62: I already saw them but thanks for posting ^-^

No Man’s Land (translation)
Spoiler:
No Man’s Land

No man’s no man’s no man’s land...

You’re all talk. I hate you
Ding dong ding dong ding ding ding dong yo
I actually trusted you. I look like an idiot now
Ding dong ding dong ding ding ding dong yo
Our love is closed
Even the meaning of goodbye is unclear
I've woken up to reality
I want to forget right now

I’ve been running in circles round and round
A mysterious merry-go-round
I know I can set myself free
From an inescapable area
No matter how long it takes
Wooo wooo
Welcome to no man’s land

No man’s no man’s no man’s land...

Zero zero, erasing my memory
I was an independent woman, new hero
Uh lalalala
Looking painfully deep inside my heart

I’ve been running in circles round and round
A mysterious merry-go-round
I know I can set myself free
From an inescapable area
No matter how long it takes
Wooo wooo
Welcome to no man’s land

No man’s no man’s no man’s land...

No matter where I go this is still my home
I’ve grown used to the pain. This is my home
No matter where I go this is still my home
I don’t have to see a new world anymore

Everybody put your hands like this

I’ve been running in circles round and round
A mysterious merry-go-round
I know I can set myself free
From an inescapable area
No matter how long it takes
Wooo wooo
Welcome to no man’s land

No man’s no man’s no man’s land...
