Not even a top 20...I'm shocked. Barely top 25, not even 3,000 copies sold... :no

Another sign of the times here... (or REALLY??? Why aren't Ayu fans willing to buy this???)

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th October 2014 05:53 AM

Because they don't know about it?

Because they already own the song digitally or on colours? I get it. Avex needs to do more.

More like ayu needs todo more. :(

I love this song and the cover of the single, but I feel nothing from this release at all. And same goes for the charts, first time I really couldn't care less about anything.

I'm happy with Colours and looking forward to any new music and gorgeous shoots, the charts haven't been a priority for a while now.

orbitalaspect 8th October 2014 07:30 AM

Just for comparison's sake... BoA's last single sold twice this in its first week. :|

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th October 2014 09:10 AM

It's pretty apparent (to me at least)that everything she's not doing now is a choice. No video, no promo, no magazines. I wonder if Avex has offered her any ultimatums that she's chosen to ignore?

I think this single was a choice to release, because there was effort put into the cover. Had this been forced, they could have just used an off shot from Colours.

And if that's the case, she'd have chosen to release it, and chosen to not do anything for it. Which is the most troubling part.

Though this is all my own speculation.

I thought she was maybe going in the "Western pop Diva" direction. But the Diva's of western pop do TONS of stuff. J Lo works her ass off (hah), even though her sales are no where near where they used to be. So I have no idea what she wants to achieve with her current career. It's really, really weird that she'd just throw away everything she's achieved. (I know, I'm exaggerating)

I personally didn't like them except Merry-go-round :)

@tokyoxjapanxfan: I think she's satisfied with what she's achieved, that music isn't really a big passion anymore, and that she's happier focusing on her personal life over her career for now. It seems to me like she works these days mainly for the paycheck. (And before 235902305920 people jump in and say "SHE CAN'T POSSIBLY WANT TO WORK FOR MORE $$$ BECAUSE SHE'S ALREADY RICH!!!" yeah, that's nice and whatever. Not necessarily true though.)

I don't mind if she doesn't want to release 5 singles, 2 albums, a best-of and 3 tours a year. I just think that if she wants to sell her loyal fans a product, she needs to make a proper effort to create a quality product. If she keeps releasing—or letting avex release, or whatever—such absolute nothings like this single for a quick buck, she's only going to feed the discontentment among her fan base, and in turn further fuel the demise of her career. I'd say that if she wants to keep making money in the long run, she needs to change something fast, but tbh I think she's past the point of no return now.

I'm definitely shocked by how low this single's sales are, but not really surprised. It makes sense that they're so low because of the utter lack of effort she's put into the product. I just can't believe this is what the Ayumi Hamasaki product has actually become. :\

I agree to you both tokyoxjapanxfan and Tom Punks.

It's just, why bother releasing a single to begin with if you're just gonna do it half assed? What is the point? She should have figured out by this time that her fans doesn't enjoy it that much and does she really get anything out working in this way? Well, whatever happens I hope that she will find a way that makes her feel like her work is fun and inspiring. Otherway she might as well just take a break imo.

relmy 8th October 2014 11:32 AM

There was no way this single was ever going to do well, who is it even aimed at? The song didn't even get a PV. Should have just put out the new remix as a digital release, probably would have done better!!

Chris85 8th October 2014 12:06 PM

Well, I just hope we won't have to wait another 3 years for new single.

TeamAyu2004 8th October 2014 02:09 PM

I think she's more interest in her new man at this point:mischief

LONJJONG 8th October 2014 02:14 PM

AyuGAME 8th October 2014 04:26 PM

You can't compare a recut single with no PV with a maxi single :shakehead

It's like comparing the sales of a regular single with a triple a-side single, pointless

adantatu2 8th October 2014 05:28 PM

You can't compare the sales with BoA's last single.

BoA's single had two original songs and two instrumentals. They weren't included in an album before its release date. It had more promo and an anime tie-in.
BoA is releasing stuff more often, she has like 3 singles and an album in Japan this year and a mini-tour.

perfectodub 8th October 2014 07:10 PM

wouaaa wouaaa wu wu wouaaaaaaaaaa
- oh pour babieeeeees!
...
many of you are acting that way... like spoiled kids

each year of 1 or 2 albums , ayumix, eurobeat, winter ballad, summer song, other two singles , ayu-trance, Arena DVD, CDL DVD, 8 PVS, some dvd sets...ayu just spoiled you!

this year we have one album with great and different songs and a espectacular DVD concert...thats good and enough..and is more than many other artist offer during the year., go live your life and back next year!

hayasaki 8th October 2014 10:51 PM

This is actually the first release I didn't buy in a while from Ayu. I understand and feel how other Japanese fans think and feel regarding this release. But, i'm planning to buy it this weekend after hearing the HACKJACK remix. I accidentally downloaded it the other day and it was so awesome that it made me change the way I view the single.

I think if Ayu had just pulled out a li'l effort at promoting this, it can even manage to enter top 10.

Ayu still has it, IMO. The Japanese people still love her and respect her. Come on, she's ayu. But it seems she is on a verge of personal break at the moment. I'm hoping for a proper comeback. <3
