it's so funny that during last week's radio show, Mika wasn't even aware the tribute album was going to be released. She didn't even know it existed lmao. #sonymilking

But it's a nice thing, there are at least a couple of new covers to look for.

So happy they decided to release MTV Unplugged on bluray *_*

And the tour... acoustic... I'm so freaking excited. I HAVE TO GO. However it's going to be tough for me but I'll try to go for the Kanagawa show... or maybe I'll go to the other two final dates.

another year without a studio album. All kind of compilations in the last three years x.x

Utena 26th January 2016 04:54 PM

^ the year just started...?

KarenPang 26th January 2016 05:18 PM

The way I see it , Sony BMG is finally stepping up and for once decide to market Mika more properly

And lining up with 2 different releases & her 1st acoustic tour at the beginning of 2016 is a great start , especially since Mika's 10th anniversary celebration was quite muted due to her health problems

I still think it was a big mistake for Sony BMG to put out DEARS & TEARS . These 2 releases should never been in existence in the 1st place or they should have been released this year instead to make things more meaningful

At the time of release , they were and still so pointless

Utena 26th January 2016 05:55 PM

I still don't quite understand why they released Dears and Tears to be quite honest. Mika probably needed to take some time off from singing and Sony thought it was going to be a good idea to release that crap of a best compilation thing :x
Oh well. I have a feeling she'll release a new album this year, probably during the second half.

I'm just freaking happy she's touring again and I'll get to see her *_*

mi|kshake 28th January 2016 10:47 PM

With the excitement of the new releases, I didn't realise until I read this thread that they were more compilations lol! Although I'll let them off with the Mika Ranmaru release.

Has anyone got their copy yet and what do they think of it?

Utena 28th January 2016 10:54 PM

^ it's a nice release but I would skip it if you're not a hardcore fan. It would have been more interesting if there was a DVD with it or something, the audio recording isn't really doing much for me. Plus her voice sounds kinda weak at times, she's had much better moments lately IMO. No picture from the actual cover photo shoot inside, which is a bummer to be quite honest. But all in all, it's an interesting release.

I still get confused with the word bootleg in the title isn't that another word for fake? Lol
Anyways i never really got into mika's music but i really like hanataba, any recommendations where to start?

mi|kshake 2nd February 2016 10:21 PM

Thanks for your thoughts Utena. It sounds like something I will buy in future!

I also meant to ask about Relaxin'? I haven't heard any of it so can't figure out if I want to buy it or not. Are the remixes any good?

Unfortunately, I haven't heard Hanataba Ryusei (I always try and avoid singles before I get the album!) but as it's a ballad I would recommend:

Oborozukiyo ~Inori~
Ichiban Kirei na Watashi o
Ashita Sekai ga Owaru Nara
Pierce
Memory
Kumo No Ito

Upbeat-wise, I would recommend:

Superwoman
Game
Candy Girl
No Answer
Glamorous Sky
Spiral

honestly acoustic tour sounds just right!

chocopockymaster 7th February 2016 03:56 PM

I'm listening to the Mika Ranmaru bootleg right now....I really enjoy the arrangement of LIFE but dear god is she straining her vocals. I can't even enjoy it. :no

edit: And now I'm listening to Dear....Jesus christ, is she drunk??????

I have RELAXIN'! The poems in between the songs are pretty to listen to. The new mix of Sakurairo Mau Koro is gorgeous. The remixes are all very calm and peaceful to listen to (the highlights for me are Over Load, Yuki no Hana, and the one with a long Japanese title lol Kireri Watashi wo or something like that). Memory is also my all time favorite Mika song so having it on the complication seemed perfect. I only bought the release because it was on sale but I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging for the CD+DVD is beautiful too.

mi|kshake 7th February 2016 08:53 PM

^Oooh def sounds like one to buy then. I will prob prioritise it over Mika Ranmaru.

I actually had a dream the other night where I met Mika and I got a hug and a photo. She had the blonde hair/wig like in the Ranmaru pics.

Is her contract with Sony comming to the end or something? I feel like her career is finished since tribute albums are usually released in memory of artists who finished their careers or passed away. I wouldn't mind if she took a break. It's better than getting another best/collection/cover albums.

Diva_br 16th February 2016 04:01 AM

I don't think like that, Mika is a great singer and have memorable songs like Yuki no Hana or WILL, and she has many years in the industry, so is normal for me the tribute
