I'm not sure if I understand the concept, it's kinda confusing imo :shrug

there are some scenes that are so random, ex: the dancing part in the chorus (it is very pretty though), the random hole on a bus and fill it with some random wooden board (wtf?) (who the hell will bring a a hammer on a bus??), and lastly, I didn't see the younger kashiyuka solo scene :irked

but minus those random scenes, I really like the video, the art director did a great job. The lighting, costume, and make up married so well.

I'm late to the party, but Mugenmirai is one of my fav tracks this year. Only actually discovered Perfume last year after watching Tokyo Tarareba Musume.

prussian blue 14th August 2018 12:00 PM

the album has already leaked, I got the chance listen to them. Overall it is a great album IMO, but some people in other forum dislike it very much, which I found quite interesting :shrug

Something that I dislike about this album is the opening track, which doesn't make sense at all, it doesn't connect to the track no.2. And also the fact that we already heard half of the album is something not I expected, I was expecting more new songs rather than an album packed with single tracks.

The new songs sounds "cute" overall, future pop and TENKU is fresh and light, CHORAIRON is Chinese-yly cute, I like Tiny baby the most so far, I miss how their voice is heavily distorted during the chorus.

maxikot 14th August 2018 12:57 PM

I listened to it as well and I have very mixed feelings about it. Let me just say, I loved Cosmic Explorer from the moment I listened to it and it was on a repeat for a long time. Future Pop doesn't have that for me. There is something weird about this album. I really enjoyed all the singles but put together, with the new album tracks it feels kind of boring to me. I would love the "Album track" more but there is this super annoying piece when the pace goes up and it is in 2 moments, really horrible and destroys the song for me. I also think that Nakata is preventing Perfume from developing, evolving, maturing. While the sound is super polished and singles are great on their own, everything together seems bland. In my eyes, they should try a different producer at this point. Also, when you name your album "Future pop" you should really step up your game and for me, it didn't happen - it's just current Perfume pop. I will listen to individual tracks, maybe even to all of them, but not at once.
The tour will be fun for sure so I am looking forward to that.

prussian blue 14th August 2018 04:35 PM

^I got your point regarding it's not futuristic enough to be called future pop, there is some point that I found it's more retro rather than futuristic. And I totally agree that Nakata is delaying their ability to go beyond their limit. I always wonder why he would allow MEG or Ami Suzuki to write their own lyrics but it never happen for Perfume? It's not like they didn't want to though :shrug

Shifting for another procuder is kinda impossible IMO, for some reason it won't be "perfume" again without Nakata, unless they are going for a solo career (?), which I found it's likely possible in the future.

Regarding the new album, I listened it for quite a few times, and it still sound better so far, although Cosmic Explorer is still my most favorite album. Future Pop is actually one of the album that I can listen without skipping any songs, compared to JPN and LEVEL 3 which contain album tracks that sounds like a rejected nursery-anime-ish songs.

You know, I think I am fortunate not having listened to any of the songs released this era aside from FUSION. To me, this album sounds very fresh and I can get a good understanding of why they called it Future Pop. Overall, I think it is their most consistent record released since GAME and I can’t imagine skipping any of the songs unlike their previous albums. I think moving forward, I will continue to avoid singles so.i don’t meet the disappointment everyone else is feeling when a new album is released. Over all I think it is a sold effort and it could be my favorite album from them next to GAME and Level3

Corvina 15th August 2018 08:12 AM

Hm, so, Idk what to feel about the album, but only listened to it once for now.
There are a lot of "cute" songs on it, aren't there?
That's something I don't like by first impression.
The strongest songs are still from their singles (Fusion and Mugen Mirai :heart), but we'll see how I'll feel with some time.

Bigtop 16th August 2018 06:55 AM

This one's not surprising (or, in other words, as I expected), but Perfume's "Future Pop" gets #1 on day #1 with 47,621 (#2 was Ayu, with 18,360).

The fanbase is super divided at this point, but I can't help but love the album. Every new track is great and the transitions are making me like songs that didn't grab my attention before, like FUSION and Mugen Mirai. Hopefully it will grow on people who are most critical about Nakata's current productions.

Day #2: Perfume still #1, 14,514 (62,135 total).

EDIT 8/17: Perfume went down #2 on Day #3, 6,135 (68,270; Southern All Stars took #1 daily with 6,628).

Bigtop 19th August 2018 06:42 AM

Sorry for the double-post, but bumping (almost 48 hours since the last post):

Day #4: Perfume down another spot to #3 daily, 4,005 (72,275; Ariana Grande was #1, followed by Southern All Stars).

adantatu2 20th August 2018 04:43 AM

^Thanks for the info ! I wonder if they are going to reach 100k in the first week.

Bigtop 20th August 2018 07:34 AM

Day #5: Back to Southern All Stars #1 daily (5,915) and Perfume (the one we're talking about) #2 (3,820; 76,095).

Unless something unexpected happens, it's safe to say Perfume's going to secure #1 for the week.

Bigtop 21st August 2018 07:28 AM

Oricon reporting ~79k (subject to rounding and potential final adjustments) for the first-week sales of Future Pop, as Perfume secures another #1 album. Perfume is #2 for the most #1 albums by a female group with seven albums (#1 belongs to AKB48, with eight).

Day #6: SAS* #1 daily again (8,930), Perfume #2 again as well (3,143; 79,238).

EDIT 8/22: Week #1 actual count: 79,282

I'm not feeling this album. On first listen, the only tracks that stand out to me are Mugen Mirai, Tokyo Girl, and Let Me Know. Everyday is pretty nice too. But this album isn't as strong as Cosmic Explorer was for me.

rroseiro 23rd August 2018 01:36 PM

Hi everyone! I might be able to go to Japan in December and I really wanted to see them live. How do international fans usually buy tickets for their shows? I'm not a fan club member btw. Do they sell fast? Thanks!

rroseiro 17th September 2018 06:18 PM

I ended up getting a ticket from FDJP. It's a PTA ticket though, so I'll probably won't be able to enter the venue... Sucks I only found about ID checks after buying... Either way, I'm traveling to Japan, woo hoo!
