the hitoyo yo's (sry if i spelled wrong)...seems to have passed the 500k mark apparently and the news is from 2nd Dec...im so confused now

Not very nice comments.. I translated one and I got something like the change to full album is terrible - selfish of fans, since 'we' kept asking for the change.....

Is it me only? I really feel that this album is great...

Takaramono 4th December 2006 06:19 PM

I love this Album,too!!^^

Dustie 4th December 2006 06:23 PM

Is it really first week numbers? It's monday here... barely tuesday in Japan...

URANUS 4th December 2006 06:27 PM

It's strange. Some people seem more obsessed with her sales than with her music.

Personally, I think that anything over 300,000 is good for today's standards. It might not get her to the top of the yearly ranking but at least she's selling proportional to the industry. I'll worry when her original album sell 50,000 copies in its first week.

Terri 4th December 2006 06:38 PM

If this is reliable, that is very low. I wasn't expecting a million, but something higher than 500k...at least.

I believe sales are always counted from Tuesday->Tuesday. I don't know if they are released at night when it turns Tuesday or towards when it turns Wednesday.

When I saw this, I was just like...are you serious? Ugh, thank you for bringing down my day with something that is obviously a mathematical impossibility. If, somehow due to the possibility of anything happening, that is the real weekly sales number, I will simply proceed to lose all faith in this reality. Nothing would make sense anymore, and all the fundamental theorems we base our lives upon would simply crumble and cease to exist. I pity da foo who isn't shooting for 1mil. weekly.

Hmph, buncha people got +1mil total last year. That, at least, is far from impossible. It's not like the CD industry is gonna disappear overnight.

(I've read everyone's thoughts btw, and I speak so regardless.)

All of them were BEST albums, except the Def Tech one and there was something else that was special about that one anyway.

They say it because they're extremely ignorant.

They think all Japanese are kawaii and listen to happy pop music and have incredible style and eat sushi like whoa.

They don't realize Japan has just as many entertainers and singers and bands. They only see the big names because they aren't in Japan.

They make angsty baised statements that prove their ignorance and lack of intelligence.

Maiku 4th December 2006 07:15 PM

maybe if she would sang something different than just jewel it would had help atleast a bit but i'm fine with the numbers ^^

Bahamut619 4th December 2006 07:25 PM

I think she was pretty lucky to have sold that much... This album is not at all what an average Ayu fan in Japan would like, and most of the songs were low quality compared to her earlier works.

And also because that (m)u album was a total disaster, people are more careful in deciding whether or not they should spend money buying Ayu's album :no

PrincessAyu 4th December 2006 07:26 PM

i wonder why everyone is so disappointed. The cd is hardly in stores or you're all expecting everyone to buy a piece. Maybe people spent their money elsewhere. Christmas or other holidays or who knows what or people are still gonna buy. And more and more people download these days, rather than buy.

SunshineSlayer 4th December 2006 07:28 PM

Wow you guys are overreacting. 386,000 is pretty good in this day and age. (and that's not even official yet)

namiie 4th December 2006 07:38 PM

Yeah, I think it's 386,000. It's not terrible but I think the album will definitely continue charting a lot, and maybe hit over 1,000,000....we can only hope!

do you really think it was so bad? :shakehead i wouldn't call it a disaster and i wouldnt do it this time either! like many said, as long as the fans like it and avex get the money back they spend (and i think they defintively do, even only 100.000 copies are sold) it's ok and we can be happy!:yes

bluegie 4th December 2006 07:48 PM

When I saw the title I was like, "wow, that's a bit low". But think about iTunes sales + other sites' downloads, it isn't that bad. Since ayu didn't have any splendid single this year (in terms of sales), it's common that the album won't be sold that well in the beginning. This album may have a better leg compared to (m)u tho.. let's say some people downloaded the album songs and found out the greatness, they may buy the album eventually.

And you have to count for the fact that the new generations of Nano/Shuffle were just released 1 - 2 months ago, there would be lots of new iPod users in Japan, and they might try using iTunes store for fun..

Ayumiko 4th December 2006 07:50 PM

Even though the first week sales are a bit low for ayu standards but its very good for today's standard. Theres alot of ppl who would want their sales to be like this..not just first week sales but overall sales. I think ppl are expecting too much in sales in the first place. I think the sales are ok for someone who is a female solo artist thats been in the industry for 8 years now. She is no longer at her peak. It will be very difficult for her to keep selling alot now that theres other younger fresher artists out there. If you look at hikki's ultra blue and all her previous japanese albums...that's even a bigger drop. I'm just happy ayu, hikki, mika, etc are still making music even though they are not selling as much as they use to.

ok...besides kumi, is there any female artist whose sales (original albums, singles) didn't drop?

midnightispure 4th December 2006 07:52 PM

I expected around 450k, although this number isn't bad. Many artists would flip out over these kinds of sales. Besides, its the music that counts. I'm happy with the album, its good. I can't ask for anything else. Sure, Ayu does need sales, however she doesn't need "wow" sales for her career to continue. As long as she keeps producing good music, I'm happy.
