ayu really show her talent again in Secret by writing and singing in only 2 month to complete a whole Secret album. She deserve a real artist award.
Koda should learn more to become a real artist who sings and sings with their real talent . For now, Koda's sucess is equal promotion and sexiness type

ImpactBreaker 26th December 2006 04:57 AM

I LOVE both albums. Unlike most people, I think both albums are very unoriginal to begin with :laugh, but I don't care, the songs are catchy and it didn't take much time to get into most of them (exception for KK 4 HOT WAVE single songs, but I like them all now).

By the rate koda kumi has been releasing stuff, I'd say she's the one to beat that record, not ayu (popping out several stuff in a short ammount of time). I believe most songs had already been made by ayu. C'mon there was a long break between the BLUE BIRD single release and Secret, she was definitely producing songs at that time (I don't believe the few weeks bull). Some of the songs were even made way before Startin'/Born To Be... was released (It Was, which was supposed to be in (miss)understood), and just got refined.

WillofDusk 26th December 2006 05:33 AM

oh?
How do ya know it was was made before startin'/borntobe?
Team Ayu really has announced about the changing of mini to full album.
Even it was made already, recording and checkin on each songs really needs time and hard working.and so as filming the two PV 1LOVE and momentum at the time, you should know it already,1LOVE was made just less than 1 month before the release day and we just accidentally know it, I believe Ayu really has to work on those new release song very hard. That's why I chose Secret
This also the first time I see an album that go with a drama, whole promotional tricks.
It's time I'm outta here,I always the starter of many fight in other forum (hoho) sorry if I had alread started one/

LOL don't worry, I don't consider this a fight, it is just a discussion.

No. Not really.

Mad_Cactuar 26th December 2006 12:01 PM

Since she beat ULTRA BLUE's first week by a small margin, I predict an 830,000 overall sales.

kiseki89 26th December 2006 03:46 PM

After listening to both... Black Cherry has some great ballads but with Koda's voice... no offence, it's not my taste.
Secret is better [my preferred voice sense] and the songs are great too, no hate song for me, even my not so favoured until the Day... is growing on me.
Whereas koda's album, I only like at most 5 songs and that's when i ignore her voice

shadow*puppet 27th December 2006 09:49 AM

well, I'm always up for a debate... it's always nice to test out your opinions against other people's

but honestly, it strikes me as a bit sad that it is when koda has finally come into her own and been recognized as an artist of her own making, that's when people compare her endlessly to ayu, even her fans... why does she always have to be in the shadow of ayu or hikki? why does her identity have to be constantly linked to that of someone else? her similarity with the previous "queens" is really only superficial at best...

it would be nice if koda's music would be debated on for itself and by itself, without finding its value only through comparison with other artists...

that said, secret is better

I strongly doubt it. Otsuka never had a "peak" and her sales are not influenced by a bunch of extras or anything tacked on her releases. People buy her solely for the music. Even her albums hardly have any music videos on their DVDs.

show me the extras! :D

extras always make me happy, but of course I wouldn't buy an album if the music were bad in the first place... music first, extras second

just because otsuka's singles/albums don't have as much extras as other artists doesn't make her a "better" artist nor does it mean her sales are more "genuine"... there could just be as many fans of hers who buy her stuff because they think she's ZOMG KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIII! keep the booklet and use the CD as a coaster...

by the way, I love your sig! Brilliantly insane :) the dadaists would have been proud... hehe

Mirai Noah 28th December 2006 07:36 PM

I voted for Secret, because I like more tracks on it than I do on Black Cherry.

ayu_fan929 28th December 2006 07:37 PM

^Well the "extras" in Otsuka's singles are the PVs since they only appear on the single CD+DVD and not on the album.

Secret..Secret..Secret

I don't like black Cherry

tenshi no hane 29th December 2006 12:32 PM

I like all the tracks on Secret and only a few on Black Cherry, so I chose Secret

TedusCloud 29th December 2006 03:33 PM

OK to be honest I've only heard Black Cherry and Feel My Mind from Kuu's work. The only track that I kept on my iPod was COME WITH ME from Feel My Mind, and just Ningyo Hime, Yume no Uta, Puppy (Goshojin-sama!!! I love it), Milk Tea (A great effort as her first try at writing) and I'll Be there. I feel that in Kuu's work there is a 'quantity is better than quality' feel. I don't like that. The transitions are AWFUL. I have to mix the tracks up to actually manage giving it a whole listen. But that's not her fault, it's Sony's. And the single tracks are better than the album tracks by a wide margin leaving an album seperated in two worlds.

Ayu's on the other hand is a masterpiece. The transitions are perfect! The voice is perfect too! The songs all weave together well. Now it could be that I'm saying this cos I am the self proclaimed 2nd biggest Ayu fan(1st is Ayu herself LOL) but it really does feel that she gives time to her work and won't let her label walk all over her and leave her as something who looks pretty and sings and gets in the cash. I feel that Kuu should stand up more to her label and crave for more independence.

Yooku 29th December 2006 03:39 PM

I voted Secret. It's very good album and I like all tracks of it (:

paperbag 29th December 2006 05:23 PM

I agree. Secret is the strongest album out of the two :yes

To be honest I really hate threads like these. Of course majority of the posts are going to be biased towards Ayumi since this is of course an Ayumi forum. I also hate how often Ayumi and Kumi get compared considering they are two very different artists with completely different styles. Why does one have to be "better" than the other?

I hate when people (miss)understand these threads. It does not say "Is Ayu Better than Ku?" or vice versa. It is asking which album you prefer all around - which type of music you like, which album seems more polished, which album has more replay value and such.
