It seems she foreshadowed the revealing of her left ear condition?

Man this girl is a genius, I love her even more now! :D We all really need to keep an eye out for all this.

Poor ayu, her japanese fans must be very ungreatful and annoying, pushing her to the limit of losing hearing in her left ear, damn, greedy Max Matsuura.

The other is about the Dome Tour. I was surprised to know it had been only two hours before the concert that she fell from the stage, as I had thought it would have been earlier than that. But what was more shocking was that her left ear had caused hearing impairment in the middle of the rehearsal. She held the concert in spite of those troubles after all, and after the Dome Tour, she lost her hearing in the left ear almost completely. (What a painful story !) -- Then how is it going now? On the day after the TV program, she wrote on the BBS of Team Ayu as below.
Honestly speaking, I'm not in a negative mood regarding this matter. Because all of you listen to my song in place of my left ear, don't you? (Team Ayu BBS April 13, 2004)
This is an indirect expression. But if we interprete this most naturally, it will be that it's impossible (or almost impossible) for her to hear in the left ear now. What impressions did you have after knowing these new facts?
It seems that he has guessed correctly.

Yeah, ayu has been hinting on that for quite a while. That's one of the reasons I wasn't really shocked. I already had in mind that her left ear condintion was bad years ago. I think she didn't lose hope and was expecting that the condition would get better after a few years. I think she's been having appointments with the physician since then, doing hearing tests and checking how her condition was. After all these years, most likely the doctors came to a conclusion that there was nothing much to do anymore. ayu was sorta prepared for that after all these years struggling with the problem. But then she just decided to be open about it now. Wasn't her hiatus after BLUE BIRD/Beautiful Fighters was released because of hearing problems?

I'm not sure. Wasn't it for eye infection?

Jwiz 6th January 2008 05:35 PM

^ yeah, should be eye infection.

ahahh I don't remember, I remember she hinted again about her ear either in 2005 or 2006...and a properly treated eye infection is usually cured after 10 days only:laugh

I am not sure either. I remember she wore those huge glasses though at the Zespri award thing.

ImpactBreaker 6th January 2008 05:42 PM

I think I rwemember the eye infection thing, but I thing she got rid of that pretty fast. I think it was just some casual news wasn't it? Like it only lasted for a week or so.

EDIT: Oh, Never mind. It seems like 2004 was the last time she had hinted about her ear problems again.

zeroshin888 6th January 2008 09:57 PM

she's so strong and optimistic! I admire her even more now!

I think it's wonderful that she has such strength to push forward and continue her music. Especially for a musician, the news that an ear has stopped functioning completely must be devastating... It must be one of the most awful things you could discover as a musician. That the very thing you sing to has stopped listening forever.

I really hope her optimism lasts, she's a very strong person and it's inspiring how she's dealt with this so far.

We're all here for you too, Ayu :)

2004 was the last time it was brought up because of the NTV 2004 interview.

She posted about it because fans were deeply worried about her and were endlessly posting about it.

It seems that she still couldn't hear too well three years ago, but I think that the termination of this "hearing" seemed to have affected her, as she stated in her blog..

ImpactBreaker 7th January 2008 03:14 AM

It seems like the condition of her ear was pretty bad at that time already, because of the way she mentions it:

"Because all of you listen to my song in place of my left ear, don't you?"

It sounds as if her hearing loss was already pretty deep. I think she still had hopes to recover it though, but they ended when she made her last appointment with the physician in 2007.
