HEART STATION 24th Week Sales Weekly Ranking: TBA | 1,419 units | Total Sales: 984,293 units

Utada’s “Prisoner Of Love” has reached the 1 million mark for Chaku-Uta full downloads in Japan. The track has just been certified by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
Just random news from U.BLOG;)

Four more months to sell a little less than 20,000 units of HEART STATION and hit the million-sales mark. That's around 5,000 albums per month. I'm getting a little worried.

CoriKaru 4th September 2008 02:29 AM

I've been worried for some time now.

AyUta 4th September 2008 03:10 AM

Same here, I have doubts now about it hitting the million mark before the year ends. Or I've been having doubts x_x; But the year is not over yet!

If anyone is interested. The record for the longest time at #1 is held by Fuji Keiko (Utada Hikaru's mother) with 41 weeks at #1 with three LPs released in one year. Of which the first LP was on #1 for 20 straight weeks which is the longest time a record was on #1 in Japan.

omg..did anyone else know this? I never knew her mom was -THAT- popular :thud:thud:thud:thud

AyUta 4th September 2008 03:24 AM

Well, it did say she was popular....but I didn't know THAT popular x_x;

pommy48 4th September 2008 03:25 AM

Hey, why worry? She's a great, talented and sucessful artist who manages to sell almost a million copies of her latest album, something impressive considering how album sales in Japan have been going down lately and that she's not the trendy boy-band or one-hit wonder around.

So, the album was great for me, I particulary LOVE it as a whole, and I hope that she actually hits the million mark this time, but I won't be sad or mad if not, i mean, is hard to sell a million albums nowadays, just look at Ayu's recent releases.

She has the best selling album/digital single in Japan. So she already has filled her shoes...to the max. :) Her and her mother are prolly the only daughter-mother team to dominate the charts and break records. Those Utadas! They have something that everyone loved or should love. And that's music. I only hope that one day I'll be able to listen to her mother's music.

Beauty4123 4th September 2008 04:04 AM

lol those utadas :laugh

pommy48 4th September 2008 04:06 AM

Check out YouTube. There's actually a song on there that Utada and her Mother sung together when Utada was a little girl. Sounds nice.

dddaiyamondo 4th September 2008 07:36 AM

Wow, Hikki and her mom are like the biggest mother-daughter musical duo of all time it seems like.

I also definitely think she'll hit the million mark :yes 20k to go and she's still doing about 1.5k a week. Awesome.

I've been wanting the UK version of Exodus for a while now, anyone knows where to get it?

It's weird, because I bought Exodus in Amsterdam, and they didn't have UK version but American version! That's weird right >__> Also, it's not even on ebay!

I really want it though, I think the UK cover looks way better, so I really wanna see the booklet too. And there are 2 bonus tracks of You Make Me Want To Be A Man, which is one of my favorite Exodus songs.

I just hope it's not that expensive.. I don't wanna pay a lot for an album I practically already own xD

I don't understand why everyone's "worried." Just because it doesn't hit 1 million doesn't make this album a failure. Not only has it sold more than UB, it's also got really good staying power on the charts, and has many high quality songs. Hikki doesn't have to sell 1 million <3

Beauty4123 4th September 2008 04:36 PM

yea but still, it's kinda aggravating to know that it only has a bit more to reach a million, and to just see it stay still on the charts is just depressing, lol. that's how i see it.

CoriKaru 4th September 2008 05:51 PM

I don't believe anyone in this thread has ever called HEART STATION a failure so that can be dropped.

The fact of the matter is, many people would like to see HEART STATION reach 1 Million and people are worried that it won't.

That's it.

No, it doesn't have to. That's a given and goes without saying, but people would like it to. Simple & Clean.

emi♡ 4th September 2008 06:04 PM

^It's just that some people really put emphasis on sales, and some don't.

Utada is one of the major artists of all time in Japan. There is absolutely no way that, even if she does lose popularity there, she will be forgotten or anything like that.

Besides, she's gaining new ground here in the states. This is a very exciting time for Jpop all around I think.

But, why is that specific number, 1 million, so important? Her sales are amazing as it is! :luv2

Melon Panda 4th September 2008 06:42 PM

Because reaching a million is a rare feat for an artist these days, and if anyone deserves it, Utada Hikaru does. Obviously, HEART STATION still kicks butt regardless of its sales, but we'd still like to see it hit a million nonetheless. Besides, million-sales albums are something of Utada's trademark (ULTRA BLUE aside).
