Because it is not all about the sales, especially with a remix album!

LacusClyne 10th April 2014 03:22 PM

Is her concert tracklist fixed? Or has there been any changes?

Gustavopc 10th April 2014 03:47 PM

^ She's been changing one song on the encore every show, it seems, all the rest of the setlist seems to be fixed. Probably she'll add more songs in the future if she releases a summer single and the tour is still going on.

I know it's not all about the sales, but they do need to cut things that won't make profit, after all they're a company :shrug They invest money on the DJs to remix the songs, on the photoshooting, working on the art and manufacturing the copies, and if it's not worth it...

Unless like 5k copies are enough to profit on a remix album, then it's ok :P

Corvina 10th April 2014 04:39 PM

Driving Hit`s 5 just sold a tad bit more (~10k).
I don`t think that changes too much for avex and their profit. :laugh

DH6 has already outsold like 50-60% of studio albums by Avex artists this year :P It's still a profitable series for them.

marty 10th April 2014 11:40 PM

You're kidding me? For Avex it's ALL about sales. They just released a summer album in early Spring, even if after two years they could have waited three months more, just to have material for what bring REAL money: the tours.
They literally rushed this, recording the new tracks and shooting two PVs in few days and shoving them in the album as quickly as they could.

Btw, I CAN'T BELIEVE BON VOYAGE SALES.
I'm so depressed.

ladyluthien 11th April 2014 05:31 AM

Listening to my copy of bon voyage and loaded is playing. I absolutely love this song. But am I the only one who hears "hey boy...feel my gumbo" I'm sure that's not what she's saying but I can't get it out of my head.

Yes sure avex is a company and they are very into the sales :D:yes but I don't think Driving Hit's is that important concerning the sales and not too bad selling for a remix album imo!

I hadnt thought of that tbh hahahahaha Fair enough

ayumisrael 11th April 2014 04:49 PM

That's why namie's releasing a ballads best but of course. Dimension Point manufactures her CDs (aka avex trax). They need an album this year to sell a couple of hundred thousands and Namie has to be used all up until she will highly decline as well, even releasing a best that's not even typical for her style. At least they have that... =P

But yeah the Bon Voyage numbers are depressing. Girls are getting their lowest numbers in their career, except for namie (for now).

Luck16 11th April 2014 05:20 PM

Avex is in no trouble loooool they have EXILE (and its subgroups).

TeamAyu2004 11th April 2014 10:01 PM

i was actually unimpressed with Bon Voyage.
It was okay... but beyond on that nothing really special... Really in love with dreamin now and a few other songs, but blah.

JAPONESQUE really spoiled me.

do it again 12th April 2014 12:25 AM

lolol i was just watching some old lives. she was cursed with suki de. her voice cracking at music station and then her arm getting caught on the dress at kouhaku. but she pulled it through the rest of the performances perfectly. she's really my fav person to watch perform live.

Actually, I'm wondering if they keep releasing this remix albums serie to fill the studio albums gap in sales. Not that I'm complaining, I love Driving Hits cds so much! <3
I'm curious about how much it costs to produce a remix cd like that and if it's cheaper and easier to make money with.

I wonder what got them to start releasing them. She only ever had that small download only remix album for a while, and I don't think she ever really had that many remixes besides one or two on singles. Now they're releasing them like there's no tomorrow. We've gotten 7 of them in 6 years which I think is crazy. I love them and I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering.

Gustavopc 12th April 2014 04:55 AM

^ ikr! The first one was planned to be released a bit after Kingdom, it was meant to be a 2CD release with a remix disc and a collab best disc, but due to the scandal it got suspensed and one year later we got Out Works and the first DH as separate releases. The following year was her 10th anniv., so I though it was fair enough to be releasing another remix album after the first, but then they just kept on releasing one each year :laugh

Maybe they prefered taking out the remixes from the singles and having them as a separate release so they could be selling more stuff? The single would keep it sales but now there'd a remix album to gain money on :P

Me too. but she debuted in 2000 right? so we still have over a year before anything will happen.

Can't believe that was that long ago already!

Avex isn't as much about sales as it is about profits.

Koda's sales are down, everyone's sales are down, but she's still one of the best selling artists in Japan lol Why wouldn't they release a remix album? It sold more than the last album for one of my favorite R&B artists.

Honestly, I wasn't very impressed by Bon voyage at first, even though it's so ridiculously fun, buuuuuuttt the songs have grown on me a lot. I listen to LOL at least twice a day. Loaded is so on my list now. I'm actually proud of the album like her others now. I'm really happy with the tone and even though some of the songs are a little not as up to par, I feel like everything contributes nicely...and I still can't get over how fun it is.

KuuXAyu-fan 13th April 2014 08:10 AM

For me Bon Voyage was the opposite of Dejavu. Dejavu had amazing singles while the album tracks weren't up to par IMO. Meanwhile Bon Voyage had a weak single cycle but the album tracks were great and much better than I expected. LOADED totally deserved a PV.
