wow, different strokes for different folks. Letter is fantastic. I've always viewed it is as the 2012 version of 'immature' (also one of my favorite songs). raw, introspective, minimalist, nostalgic. much prefer this style than the recent wave of disingenuously overproduced "epic" songs like Return Road and Last minute that are desperately trying to recreate the magic of songs like Free & Easy and Memorial address.

don't even care that it rips the Joan Osbourne song, it doesn't sound like it in any other part besides the guitar riff anyway.

I like it too for those reasons tbh, it's just SUCH a random song to latch onto as like the best of the past 18 years of her career lol

That song is so amazing but it breaks my heart.... D:

Reminds me is the climax of Party queen to me, I love everything bout that song. Last minute ain't got that much power but I still appreciate it

njanjayrp 28th December 2014 02:20 AM

I did not say it was her best song ever, just that I consider it to be among her best works as of late. Its well written, well produced. It doesnt sound like any other song in her discography either.

hm if I had to pick 5 songs to "save" since the release of FIVE:
  • Wake me up
  • Letter
  • XOXO
  • Tell all
  • BRILLANTE

Interesting that 4 of those songs are from oddball composers (Phrased Differently, Katsumi Ohnishi, RedOne, Timothy Wellard)

oh! who mentioned Life? one of my faves! :luv2

Oops lol. My "18 years" comment was an exaggeration for everything since FIVE/PQ, though rereading it it does sound like I meant her whole career. But I didn't. :

It sounds like all her other mid-tempo "What If God" tracks to me though. HOPE or PAIN, Life, etc.

Y'all have got me listening to Party Queen now. :laugh call-Letter-reminds me are just 3 back-to-back amazing songs.

Matt_rq 28th December 2014 08:55 PM

Party Queen is such a jewel! I love everything about that CD, even the cover because is a great irony...

I really enjoy it a lot after the first three tracks. They make such a bad first impression lol. I love that it's not really cohesive throughout. And the cover with her in front of a mirror is awesome, except for the seemingly missing arm lol.

The best thing of those 3 first track is that all start like a crazy party but then comes pure magic on the next songs. Is like you want to go party but in the inside you are so full of sadness and emotions to express.

dreamlover13 29th December 2014 09:39 PM

Letter looks really bad. Considering it's followed by reminds me, return road, and Tell me why.
