^other than coming from a small company (which is more and more frequently used as an extra to emphase their achievements) I reayll don't see anything more "special" or "hard working" than most other idol groups out there. Yes, their music is good here and there but i really have a hard time understanding their success. It's seems to be more like a momentum they have going on (and yes, i hope it last a while for them) but there are plenty of other groups that deserve a similar treatment - maybe even more so.

BTS more and more becomes a standard for k-pop for many foreign fans (similar, but a bit wider) to what PSY had going on - and t feels very one-dimensional which i find rather frustrating to see than being happy about kids in my country sporting BTS shirts, knowing that they don't understand a thing about kpop but just care for their looks or just hopping on a bandwagon of what is "cool".

^ Most fans started stanning them because of relatable lyrics, the message behind their music and because they really liked the songs. At least back when they used to be less popular. Also, they participate in creating their music, unlike most kpop groups. And their success is completely different from Psy's. They didn't have a viral hit that made them blow up. They grew gradually by acquiring more and more fans. Although like with any popular thing it's also partially thanks to luck, of course not 100% of the success can be explained from an objective standpoint.

thinkingoutloud89 6th September 2018 09:35 PM

^I know that is different from PSY, but it boils down to the same consequence and that was what i was saying. Also the whole "they do their own music" is kinda overrated too. Other Idols do too and it is not emphases that much + most other Idols are not given that chance. If they would produce constantly good music I would be okay but songs like "Not Today" or "Fire" are just loud and "Fake Love" really wasn't that special. In fact many of their songs are not that special, yet they dominate the top watched music videos charts only because of crazy fans that can't objectively judge a good song anymore. For example: I'm a huge G-friend song, yet Sunny Summer was a really bad title-track. Only because it is G-friend it does not make me love that lackluster song.

rainbow_smile 6th September 2018 11:40 PM

^ Just because you don't like a song doesn't mean it's bad or not special and that no one can ever genuinely like it tho. Yes, I have a fair share of BTS songs I'm not a big fan of, but for example I really like Fake Love which you didn't like. Besides, just because they have some songs in their discography that aren't to your liking, doesn't mean they're not good in general. It's impossible to always produce songs that everyone likes

thinkingoutloud89 7th September 2018 05:17 AM

^has nothing to do with me liking it or not - it is a generic song for fact as it does not sound any different from other boyband songs. As I said - fans can't judge properly anymore. Well, be it. I don't see them lasting to long anymore anyways.

koumori 7th September 2018 01:18 PM

This is the artist thread for BTS, so if you're here only to say they're going to fail, there's no point posting in here repetitively. Negative feedback on new releases is one thing, insulting the fans and saying the band won't last too much longer is another. Post with thought.

If there's nothing else constructive to say, both sides drop the subject now. There's a lot more to discuss on BTS recently :)

thinkingoutloud89 7th September 2018 11:16 PM

^It is not a threat for praising but to voice opinion on something - and with the first dating rumors coming up, I wonder how their story will continue.

Back on topic - the Nicki Minaji edit is quite cheap. I guess they had at least a bit of budget to give her a proper set.

rainbow_smile 8th September 2018 01:36 AM

^ Thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated.

Anyway, on a different note, I can't get enough of Euphoria. I love Jungkook's voice so much.

susiowong 8th September 2018 06:23 AM

^ YES! His clean vocals really shine in Euphoria. Imo his voice is fitting for such a sweet and happy song. And the choreography - so gorgeous. I've probably watched fancams of Euphoria more than I have any other performance. :laugh

I feel the same and while I was reading your comment, I immediately thought about VIXX. This group is so good, creating their own concept, music and lyrics and yet they aren't known as they should be.
I think every group work hard at their own level, BTS or others but as you said, BTS has nothing more special than others groups (that's my opinion).
That being said, I'm always curious about their songs, and there is always one or two I'm enjoying (loved so much DNA or Fake love, on the contrary, I don't like IDOL, too much noise for me).

Ikr! I haven't watched the fancams yet bc I want at least some of the concert to be a surprise when I see it in person, although I've seen a fancams of him singing that high note and it healed my soul. However, the choreo I've seen so far in that video they tweeted and on the vlive broadcast was pretty good imo! He nailed everything in euphoria, I love him so much, he's so talented.

susiowong 8th September 2018 04:54 PM

^ I think you will be blown away when you see it live. :D

There really is something healing about that song. Not just the high note, all of it. It just makes me feel good when I hear it. Tbh, when I first heard it I didn't really care for it, but it grew on me immensely, and then watching it with Jungkook's live vocals and elegant dancing - ahhh, it's next level. I'm so jealous I'll never see it in person. But I know it will blow you away.

rainbow_smile 8th September 2018 09:37 PM

^ I'm really looking forward to being blown away, I have no doubt I will be hehe

I hope you do manage somehow someday :( maybe he will somehow perform it at a different concert (although unlikely but who knows). I'm really glad it grew on you tho. It's my favourite song on the album.. I do agree the song suits him so much, but it also makes me feel very intense happy emotions, which no other songs ever managed to evoke, so it's a very special song to me.

susiowong 9th September 2018 03:41 AM

^ yep yep that's kinda how I feel about it too - one of my favorites and makes me feel... just super happy and refreshed? It's become special to me too, like my happy place, except in music. :laugh Jungkook somehow manages to have this effect on me. So for that, the fact he's had such a positive effect on my life through his voice, makes me really appreciate everything he does for us through his music. :yes

They will release a new Japanese single titled "Bird" on November 7! Japanese versions of FAKE LOVE and Airplane pt.2 will also be included. "Bird" was written by AKB48's producer Akimoto Yasushi

Not very excited about the fact that it was written by AKB48's producer but I hope I'll be surprised. I usually like their Japanese songs

susiowong 13th September 2018 12:45 AM

I stand by what I've said before, but we need an OG Korean MV of Airplane pt.2... but I will take what I can get.

Not gonna lie I'm not excited about this either (as if the Nicki Minaj collab wasn't bad enough...) but I guess it means more hype for the boys? :shrug

rainbow_smile 13th September 2018 01:07 AM

Yeah I guess it'll give them a bit more exposure/media play opportunities in Japan... I hope the song turns out to be good and not similar to the akb48 repertoire tho, some producers are versatile enough

I'm excited for the airplane MV though!

Also, agree with everything you said about Jungkook, he's such a precious little angel ;-;

rainbow_smile 16th September 2018 10:46 PM

The tracklist has been changed. Bird's release was cancelled, they added two remixes instead. The new tracklist:

1.FAKE LOVE -Japanese ver.-
2.Airplane pt.2 -Japanese ver.-
3.IDOL (Remix)
4.FAKE LOVE -Japanese ver.-(Remix)

susiowong 16th September 2018 11:17 PM

Honestly, I let out a sigh of relief when I heard they were removing the track.

After Nicki Minaj and Akimoto Yasushi... yeah, nobody is perfect, but the boys can do better than that. So I'm glad bighit is being considerate of the issue that came up with aki-p rather than brushing it under the rug.

I just hope BTS and their team try to be more aware of potential problems that might occur when collabing with certain people in the future. (I mean, the right-wing allegations aside, it was just in the past year that he was releasing problematic lyrics... That in itself creates dissonance with their message of loving yourself and their UNICEF campaign - fighting sexual violence against children.)

But I digress. I hope the relationship between international army and k-army is salvageable. I've also heard very little from the J-army perspective, so I'm curious what their thoughts on the matter are...

rainbow_smile 17th September 2018 01:16 AM

From what I've seen so far most k-armys seem to be understanding, and don't hate i-armys, they're also aware that a lot of us actually supported them and not all of us are rude (which is nice), but the majority of i-armys seem to be very bitter towards k-armys. I think the international side of our fandom kinda tends to hold grudges =/

Tbh they should've just hired ayu to write the lyrics LOL
