so let's say if the total cost you have to pay them's 1,900 Yen , if you punch that no. into XE.com , what you see on there , might not be the actual amount you have to pay the next time you update your bank book

it's usually higher & sometimes lower , depending on the exchange rate

ok.so lets say the total when i confirm the order is 5000Yen,they won't charge any extra charges without my permission right?
I'm afraid they will charge extra (in Yen) after i confirm the order and also the shipping price...

no they wouldn't

I ordered quite a lot of times from there & they never done that at all

nanakopy87 28th August 2009 09:10 AM

ohh,okay.so let say,(i'm stupid =.=")
item price is 5000 Yen and shipping fee is 900Yen,so the final price is 5900Yen.
They will not charge more than 5900Yen right.

Im fine with the exchange rate thingy. The thing that Im worried if they charge extra like wad nanakopy said, but since Karen said they wouldnt do that without permission then I think I got nothing to worry about. Thanks guys for clearing my doubt.:D

If I not mistaken I remember someone from forum has been overcharged with new total cost (which is much much much higher than the original cost) when she/he bought Deiji deiji diary from hmv japan,
but I cant remember who. :dead2 I scare if this will happen to me, thats why Im asking here:P

gothicayu 29th August 2009 08:41 AM

what you guys seems to forget is the total is in yens even if hmv will charge you exactly the price that you see , your bank will charge you some "extra fees " for the change .
thats what must have happen to the person who boght the vivi magazine .
hmv dont extra charge but bank does !

nanakopy87 29th August 2009 08:47 AM

i see...this is why sometimes the total price @ online receipt is different from the bank statement

that's what I said a few posts back :innocent

that's why nowadays if I can , I go with PayPal since the amount that I see on the net , it's the same one that I will see on my bank book

rusuke 29th August 2009 09:23 AM

If you want quality then go with the JP press. Don't be bothered with the price. It's worth it!:)

nanakopy87 29th August 2009 09:23 AM

i see...
hmm, they do charge some 'fee' too for using paypal...
they charge it to the credit/debit card account for certain bank,in my country.

normally it won't happen to cd/dvd, but for the book. I remember that the person preorder it, when the weight of the book wasn't out yet, so hmv japan only did an estimation(but i remember fairly well that they did state the shipping might be change on the listing), and the book turn out to be so much heavier(no one really expect that it will be SO HUGE right?)

KarenPang 30th August 2009 10:18 AM

^ :yes on what Genie said

I ordered the Kami no Shizku photobook via HMV Japan a while back ago for a friend here as a gift & on the day when HMV Japan mailed out the photobook to her , I had to pay more than the estimated shipping fee that they quoted me

so such incident is only possible for pre-order item, not ready in stock item right? If that so, I got no worries anymore since the book Im planning to buy is ready-in-stock item. :D

well said !

paypal do charge fees and sometimes their fees are more important than bank fee but again it depends wich option you pay for with your bank and paypal so you should check both of them and compare prices .as for the hude difference .

as of price with the shipping the price that you see on the website is based for japan to japan but since when they ship international it cost, more thats why the price change when you checkout ( because the address doesnt have a japanese zip code )

its kinda like amazon.com .for exemple the flat rate shipping is 2.99 ( but the price that you see is for us) so if you check out with an address without a us zip code it will charge you 5.98 $

thts not good:irked how much extras you had to pay for the book? Im planning to order Perfume Portfolio photobook, hope the extras wont be so much or at least still below YA price for the book :innocent

LacusClyne 31st August 2009 10:24 AM

before karen tells you how much more...

just to compare the shipping, hmv is safer then YA, especially for your country, since they tend to keep mail. and hmv use register mail, while you have to pay extra for register mail at YA, or the free shipping takes a long time for you....

HMV initally quoted me 900 Yen for the shipping pertaining to the Kami no Shizuku photobook the & LIPS single as an estimation shipping price

after they mailed out both items to my friend , it jumped up to 1,680 Yen

still thinking if I want to buy the photobook locally at Kinokuniya for myself or not :innocent

nanakopy87 31st August 2009 12:11 PM

lol....do they inform you before shipped the parcel to you?

Iyreen 31st August 2009 03:21 PM

^they informed u as in they ask for ur permission to charge extra or just inform and then straight away charge ur debit card without you agreeing on the new price?

@lacus
yea, Im trying to avoid YA becos of my previous experience. Wanted to buy at cdJapan but since they never list the item so now I opt for HMV japan :P
