Ku's index wasn't 1.7 but lower in the end. And what ayumisrael said is true, it was posted on Ayu-china and the encore press isn't gonna be shipped till April. The first USB press is gonna be counted for today (25th).

I do agree with you in that context, but hopefully NL might drop less than TRICK did in daily and weekly sales, so we just need to wait I suppose...
The USB count and the other version might "help" in that case.

Those sales are HORRIBLE. This is what she gets for including 4 interludes instead of 4 FULL SONGS in an album. I hope she'll learn her lesson from this.

ayu had million selling albums with 3 interludes :x
Also in fact the sales aren't really bad =P (with no comparisons to other stuff). They are pretty good.

1st of all, isn't this album supposed to be released on 25th? If this is the 24th figure, just like Kuu's latest single/album (forget) that released one day before, the real 1st day sales should be tomorrow right?

2nd, I am too lazy to go to Utada's thread, but she got higher NINKI index than Ayu's. May I know Utada's 1st day sales? Or if possible her 1st week sales, so I can compare, because usually sales won't be too much of a different.

Japan's economy it's broke...

I think people have more things to worry than buying albuns...

I just realized that the date says 24 not 25. O.o

Her first day sales were like 24 or 27k. For the week she got 73k or 77k. Not sure.

pommy48 25th March 2009 11:16 PM

It's not the case with NL though, CD's dates in japan are always on Wendnesdays and are being sold a day before (on Tuesday) that oricon can count and show the stats on Wedneday.

hikki's This Is The One first day were 27,213.

That didn't stop Arashi from selling 502k in their first week nor did it stop Ikimonogakari, Kumi, DCT and Remioromen from selling way over 200k.

baoanhnguyen 25th March 2009 11:25 PM

first thing this morning before going to school i thought it was 99200 (index) i freaked the f*u*k out! i was like "omg it might break 500k first week"...but then i realize that Oricon started posting actual sales...........way to rain on my parade! i am actually quite happy with the sales though. At least it'll go Platinum first week (hoping)!

Im predicting that NL will sell somewhere between 261k-275k its first week....but then again, im not a scientist.lmao.

Sophia ~ The goddess of Wisdom 25th March 2009 11:31 PM

I think the economy is really taking a hit on all the album sales, I mean all the big artists have seen a decline in their sales. But I think Ayu will still have a large sale number if we count all the sales outside of Asia, which is where most of her sales are now. =D:yes

I doubt it is because of the interludes, because she has always had them. Though I agree that it doesn't make sense to have 4 interludes in a 14 track album - 17 or 18 track album then yes. I think it has more to do with 2 things - the economy might play a factor and a good chunk of her fans may simply just not like this style of album. Also she neglected TV promotion for too long.

While Japan's economy is being effected, at least when I was there in February, it was no where near as bad as the US one.

Kaiouforever 25th March 2009 11:53 PM

If she can hit 500k, that would be a miracle.

shineestar 26th March 2009 12:15 AM

Well she got #1, great, and hope she sells even more. ^^

mimi.chan 26th March 2009 12:31 AM

YAY! for ayu! #1

somethinglost 26th March 2009 12:43 AM

I think it's interesting that some of you are freaking out over her sales when we all know many here haven't even purchased a copy.

Anyway, I don't think the sales are bad, and there is no use making excuses for why her album isn't doing good, or reasoning with those who think the sales are bad. It's a product, it will do well if people want it, it won't if people don't want it. It's not like Ayu is so new artist who needs to build her popularity and credibility, she is known and whenever she releases an album it is known.

Just relax everyone, Ayu will be fine and she will continue to make amazing music for us even if she doesn't sell 5 million copies of this album.

That said, I'm going to ignore the sales, pop in my "NEXT LEVEL" CD and enjoy it! ^_^
