Stylish , I don't really have that much love for it haha

mmm looks like she couldn't really escape the 2nd album syndrome T-T

Lovebox debuted at #2 on the 1st day :O

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/ja/d/

Is this her 1st release to debut so high on the 1st day ? I think so right

Definitely! Bitter and Sweet only debuted at no. 5.

The sales aren't enormous, but Bitter and Sweet was also a slow seller so I'm sure in the end it'll be okay ^^

AyUta 2nd June 2010 03:57 PM

Aw, go beni!

KarenPang 2nd June 2010 04:28 PM

BENI posted this Twitter message on her Twitter account

This exactly. I really like BENI, and I loved all of the singles from B&S and I was excited for every release but the album tracks were all one big blur and then that blur carried on to Lovebox's singles and then album tracks..

KarenPang 2nd June 2010 05:25 PM

I think this's quite a common problem I see for artistes that deals with pop/R&B

artistes like Aoyama Thelma & Shota Shimizu are not spared from this too . Like , I was very bored with Shota's debut album Umbrella & that goes for Aoyama's DIARY

but somehow or another , they manage to evade the 2nd album curse when they released Journey & Emotions respectively

I guess the expectations for Lovebox was quite high cos the album tracks already overtake the singles in many aspects & the singles themselves were already really good

so this in a way backfire or 2 . If the tracklist's cut from maybe 15 songs to 12 songs then it might have been better

PoetGirl 2nd June 2010 06:35 PM

second place is awsome! I just started to listen to the album. I like what I hear so far

ストロボ・EdGE 2nd June 2010 10:00 PM

What's the 'second album curse' you speak of, Karen?

Well, it's also called the sophomore album slump, it's when an artist's first record (or in this case, first BENI record) is received very warmly and sells very good and the artist might be nervous, wanting to achieve the same succes again which something leads to extremely similar or sometimes bad records.

adantatu2 3rd June 2010 12:26 AM

No.2, wowwww!!!!!!! She can be the No.1

yes & also musically too

it's very difficult especially if you release a debut album that's so awesome in terms of sounds

but when you come to your 2nd album onwards , it become very blah & long winded

AyuGAME 3rd June 2010 01:23 AM

number 2!!! not bad...
the gap between her and the first position is just 2k, hope beni can take over this...

I wouldn't consider "yurayura," "Girl's Night" "MOVE" and "break the rules" as ballads...

Congrats for getting the no. 2 position! It's a shame her first week sales won't be very high, but it's still exciting that she's so high in the rankings

Well no, I wasn't being entirely literally ; )

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd June 2010 12:38 PM

I see. Second albums are really, really important after all. It determines if the singer has that it factor or if they just got lucky in the first shot.

KarenPang 3rd June 2010 12:47 PM

^ yeah but a lot of artistes that I support & know who release 2nd albums onwards , they managed to escape that curse like Aoyama Thelma , Shota Shimizu , BREAKERZ & etc

It's just unfortunate BENI's not in that category .__.

anyway YAY Lovebox's at #1 today :D :D :D :D

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/ja/d/

wow is this the 1st time her release's at #1 :O

PoetGirl 3rd June 2010 12:53 PM

I love the album. Sure, Beni's songs are quite similar but I do like them.
When yura yura starts I always think Im listenin to kiss kiss lol.
some songs really... are not that interesting when you listen to the album,
which means, if you listen to them separately they are ok.
like 君じゃなきゃ, message, マイ・フレンド, he is mine and so on.
Its like you dont have feeling that song has even ended,
two songs sounds like the same song.
beni has luck that her songs are sweet and listenable,
if those were terrible songs I would be mad angry

Well, maybe Aoyama Thelma managed to escape the curse in terms of the music, but sales of her second album were only MUCH lower than those of her first D :

A good example could be Mika Nakashima, whose second album sold even more XD

AyuGAME 3rd June 2010 02:46 PM

really interesting album chart...i hope BENI can get number one position
