Let's all be honest.

Ayu can't release -anything- without people talking badly about it.

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

Like seriously.

She could release a ballad. A rock song. A dance song. A mid tempo song. And she'd always be labeled as sounding old. Looking old. Out dated. Boring. Predictable. A mess. Tired. Screechy. Shouty.

So whatever. *shrug*

You kind of have to roll with the punches at this point.

THIS IS SO TRUE!

^Yes it's true but it was easier to defend her to friends and acquaintances who were haters before when her songs sounded like musical masterpieces, had deep lyrics and she was at least singing in pitch.

I can only care about this song because it's by Ayu and it shouldn't come to this. But as someone mentioned maybe this is what Ayu liked and is really into ATM so power to her. But I seriously don't think it's helping the cause for a comeback.

jbrat2219 24th October 2013 04:54 PM

Comeback? She never went anywhere in the first place :laugh

^ Your signature makes me die laughing :roflmao

What exactly makes the Japanese public beacons of good taste, anyway?

This is a country where Avril Lavigne is still relevant.

I don't think that ever happened... Go home, you're drunk!

Good point. I mean to be popular again. But then I just had another thought. When she released Love (not)mini-album, it had such decent conventional songs and IMO a lovely cover and it couldn't even sell 100k on oricon. Maybe she's better off just doing what she wants to do.

But the main problem now is that most of those who always complain about her music are her own fans...

BlackSilence 24th October 2013 05:37 PM

lol you don't like something? fine...you move on...i'm not a fan of the direction she's going but whatever goes for her.. i'm hoping somethign better for my taste will come after... as of now, i've gotta say the goddarn chorus is stuck in my head all day, the melody is too simple and i dunno...i've only listened to it like 2 times lol if it will be stuck for longer it is gonna get annoying and i won't ever give the song an other chance...lol maybe it's good that it's so easy to remember people will get brainwashed faster and get the single, cuz sometimes it happens that when the song is playing in your head often from annoying you become addicted to it haha

She really is, she's made some of the best music in her career (in my opinion of course) from Love songs onward and it is STILL not enough to satisfy the haters fans. So why not make the kind of music she wants? Even if it's happy and cheesy, as long as I can groove to it she won't get any complaints from me. I liked You & Me because it was upbeat and I could dance to it not because it was deep and inspiring :laugh Sometimes I just wanna let loose and have a good time and enjoy the music.

I'm happy to see that there are at least some people who love Feel the love and are excited about the single as well!

She already explained that in one of the interviews. Iirc, it was in Numero Tokyo.

Some prominent (And, unfortunately, funny) comments are :
"This is the 21st Century, right?"
"Amuro works with Zedd. Ayumi Hamasaki works with DJ Hello Kitty and Komuro. LOL"
"Wow, Amuro wants to try EDM so maybe Babasaki thought she might be desperate to try as well."
"Ayu's enka singing style with this 90s garbage song? Wow, I've heard everything."

I'm so disappointed. This came out of no where, and it's like she's trying to capture the success of recent, and now outdated, electronic waves.

She should have came back with a ballad. I know you guys don't want ballads right now, but if she wanted to release a single as a comeback, she should have released a nice ballad and sang it perfectly on TV and then everyone would hail the return of Hamasaki Ayumi.

This is just garbage, you guys. I'm flipping my table.
Even Na Na Na and Shake It are better than this, and I absolutely hate those songs.

when did the views of 2chan = views of the japanese public?

That's an interesting perspective... Usually when songs are catchy and keep playing on my head it makes me like them more and want to listen to them more, I usually consider it as a good thing, not annoying :laugh
I'm hopping japanese people will hear the song on the radio or wherever and become addicted to it, because this one so catchy :D

good. i'm happy she isn't going with a classic winter song, such as a ballad.

i'm pretty sure the only thing meant to be "Christmas" about this single is the release date. :laugh

jbrat2219 24th October 2013 07:32 PM

And the fact that she's gifting us with a single after all these years!

I personally don't care what format the new songs come in as long as she continues to sing, I will continue to support her :)

If someone looks about public opinion from somewhere like 2chan, please.
It's just a place for anonymous scumbacks to be pissed and angry about everything.
It's not relevant to any public opinion in any way. Same with 4chan an such.
Sites like 2chan have the idiots of internet combined in one place, to be aggressive and acting like middle-schoolers without showing their face.

exactly.
she wouldn't release something she wasn't happy with.
as long as she's happy, i'm happy. :D

Honestly, I think Ayu did a good job with Feel the love. When I saw the EDM word in the description I was afraid because every songs I have heard nowadays all sound the same & boring. However her song is really fresh compared to others singers/bands' EDM songs even if there are a lot of basic sounds. Ayu managed to bring her personnal touch in that song.
I feel a daydreaming atmosphere when I'm listening this song. When I close my eyes, I see people taking a lot of pleasure while they're dancing. The scene's speed isn't fast, so you can see everyone's smile in their face. They like dancing, they like dancing together! The verse is really soft, "slow"..so.you can breathe before to jump in the chorus. With that kind of break you can dance all the night without being tired as you would be with a more dynamic song. The arrangement is quite good too. Sometimes I hear water sounds & I love the funny sounds (don't know how to call it) that we can hear after the first chorus & at the end of the preview. The melody is nice too. Even if it's her best song, I really like to listening to Feel the love. It's relaxing.

maikaru, these people have never had anything nice to say about Ayu even when she was popular so it's not like it's a surprise that they said these things. You go to the Yahoo!Japan articles or 2ch threads and it's always the same thing. You only really see positive comments at Ayu-centric BBSes or threads and even then, some of the other people find their way in. It even happens with Amuro/any other act that's remotely popular. If anything, the presence of these idiots only reinforces her popularity since they don't even talk about other acts because of how irrelevant they are.

Well, I'm going to flip the table in celebration. Even though I might be criticized as a blind Ayu fan, I've genuinely eventually loved everything that Ayu's put out at some point. I don't really care if it makes me look bad to believe in her even when no one else does because I think I'm always going to support her especially in light of recent interviews and such.

Quote:

“No matter if I am myself, and no matter what kind of silly face I show to the world, there are people who never stopped believing in me.

So what is happiness to me? In the end, I don’t care if my life is a huge success or a huge failure. More importantly, it is to be believed in by someone other than myself. To be believed in and never given up on. That’s what I think is the meaning of life.”
IMO, she is not trying to do anything other than replicate what she had with You & Me and so far she seems to be successful. Do the words "You & Me was her last big hit (with 3.2 million YouTube views)" not mean anything to you?

What's worse is that this track isn't out of the blue, it sounds like a b-side version of You and Me. I hoped she'd go more Tell All than... this. I'm not a huge fan of Tell All either but at least she sounded like she wanted to be making music on that track.

Honestly? Probably not. But that goes for any artist really. Since this is an Ayumi Hamasaki-centric forum, Ayu isn't exactly just 'any other artist'. (**I am not saying that you have to like everything to be a fan, just saying I'm not going to be surprised if people actually like what Ayu put out regardless of what it is or if you personally think it's trash**)

This nonsense about this song not being music is sort of offensive to Ayu and anyone who worked on it, tbh.

ayu doesnt need to always release ballads to be known as queen and be hailed at every time by every single person. :innocent
