Besides Walk, Out of control, and Last minute... the lyrics on this album are kinda shit. I mean, I expected an album like Colours to have not-so-great lyrics, but imo lyrically this album is a step down from LOVE again.

Just have to say, now that we've had a month to listen to the album, that TSMGO reminds me less and less of snowy kiss. TSMGO is so much better! There are small similarities, but nothing like I thought before.
Also, this is a pretty solid album. The only track I ever skip is the gift...so generic and bland. |

Well just yesterday morning while i was going to work my iPod decided to play the GIFT and since i was sleepy and lazy to change the song i was like oh well.
But when i reached the center of the city (it was around 06:30) there were soooo many people that sold flowers it was some flower festival yesterday the GIFT was still playing on my iPod and it was really nice even though i tend to skip that song pretty often |
Walk is my favourite song from A One. I love how many of the songs from it fit so well the spring season.
|
I'm liking Walk more and more every time I listen to it. The only ones I sometimes skip are Anything for You and The GIFT, though I don't think they're bad. I tend to listen to them more when I'm on a ballad kick. Out of Control is one I'm really loving lately, I think the bridge is great.
|
The instrumentation of the GIFT itself is pretty bland, but I LOVE the way Ayu sings it. It is as if she is holding back tears while she sings. I never skip it because of that... it makes me cry from time to time :)

I'm kinda with you there... I find The GIFT to be EXREMELY generic musically (aside from the intro & outro piano phrase, which I think encapsulates the apprehension/nervousness/excitement/anxiety you feel when getting married very well), but her vocals make it absolutely entrancing. I thought that when I heard the preview, and I still do.

Almost a month on and the one thing I hate about A ONE is still Anything for You. What a draggy, cheap rip-off of Walk.

The GIFT is still the absolute worst song, and Walk is the most unmemorable. But Story is flawless. How many times do I have to say this.
|
I really like Story too. I listened yesterday to the A ONE ballads on my phone (without earphones) because I wanted to hear ayu's vocals more than the instrumentals and its kinda magic. I noticed that for this album the music becomes background-ish, her voice being the main tool. TSMGO doesn't work this way lol ~iieei iieee~

I love The GIFT. I think it stands out from the rest of the album as far as over all sound.
As far as vocals, I think this album contains some of the best vocals she's ever had. The way she sings NO FUTURE, The GIFT and Last minute, for example, really draw you in as a listener. It sounds like she's tried some different vocal techniques! :) |
^I agree about her vocal, NO FUTURE high pitch sounds it's smooth for her state of vocal, it's not grating but just right.
I don't like how The GIFT ended up with the same piano because that sound doesn't match well as a closing of a track bc it's building up instead of closing it. Quote:

I love the song so much, the built up and the sounds are magical and bittersweet but sung in a happy tone. It's magical. |
Am I the only one who loves Walk and Anything For You? It's probabl because they're so alike that I do like them, but they're just so perfeeect

I love these two also. And to me Anything For you sounds pretty much like SAKURA rather than Walk. Maybe a mix, so this would be why I love it so much.
tbh I never thought I'd live up to a day where I'd prefer the ballads tracks of an ayu album rather than the rock tunes but well here I am :laugh |
