So you're saying that Kelis' Tasty flopped, Nelly Furtado's Folklore flopped, Britney's Greatest Hits flopped, etc etc? Unfortunately, not every album sells one million, not even the weekly #1's are guaranteed one million. 500,000 is already considered great. And Paris is a debut artist, so 100,000 is excellent.

Paris is selling pretty steady given her status and public perception.

Just cause it's Paris.. :/

Truth.

I don't get the why people keep on rambling about the imperfections in her voice. She's not making mistakes like American Idol contestants. Plus her voice isn't high pitched or screechy like Ayu during her debut. It's just there, nothing to it. The instrumentals wouldn't sound better.

We can't compare Paris Hilton with Kelis, for example, because Paris Hilton album had a much bigger promotion and hype than "Tasty". Britney Spears album was a Greatest Hits. And Nelly Furtado's Folklore was a huge flop in the US and Nelly Furtado wasn't dropped by her label thanks to the good sales in Europe.

I just heard her CD. She sounded like she smoked marijiuana when she made this. She sounds so stoned. Good ol' Paris :)

Isn't that basically what Paris is? Okay, minus the "well respected" part. The only reason the album sold 100,000+ records is BECAUSE of Paris Hilton's name. If I had put out this record, you wouldn't have even heard it. And for damn good reason :D .
And if Beyonce or Mariah, or Christina, or Gwen had put out a craptastic album like this.......that would never happen.

Ali2tai 20th September 2006 01:37 AM

I agree! I don't like her but Paris looks good on the cover

Disagreed, Tasty had the mega-hit single "Milkshake". Paris only had a moderately successful "Stars Are Blind".

You guys sound jealous of her album and the chance she got to start a music career. Not pointing at anyone in particular.

AUGH. NOT THE JEALOUSY DEFENSE. Always the freaking jealousy defense. That defense is so damn dumb. We always have to be jealous (of Paris Hilton? For what, being rich? That'd kind of contradict some other things there). We can't just hate someone for legitimate reasons. No, we. Have. To. Be. Jealous.

Personally, it irks me that she got signed when she doesn't seem to really care about having a career in music. For her, it's something to do when she's bored and another source of income. I know it's stupid of me to say that I know someone I don't know better than they do, but she doesn't seem to have a passion for music.

Having a passion for music is a reason to make it. She doesn't need the money. She doesn't care. Plus her singing is horrid (I know, I know, "she doesn't sound bad." I'd like to introduce you to the wonders of studio enhancement, able to mask and correct everything but a wafer-thin voice). The production should've been given to more deserving people. I'd say singers, but that'd mean including her as one.

The jealousy defense hurts as much as listening to people critic the music you like, doesn't it?

She isn't that rich by the way. She needs the money at the rate she splurges, the Onassis people are way richer than her. It doesn't matter if she has the passion or not since her producers obviously do. The music sounds amazing. I don't believe a single bit that Paris crafted those tunes or even lent a single finger in the proceedings.

Thank god for studio enhancements, all artists should use them. Why let flaws remain in your album if you're making a dance record? She ain't no Jewel. Paris has a personality that is very rare and it's probably helping her singing skills. You can just imagine her spoilt demeanour as she coos her way through the album. So extra points on mood and atmosphere too.

If this was Aly & AJ or any other crap Disney artistes, the album would have sold 9825792857982 copies and everyone will be drooling over it.

Kacper87 20th September 2006 10:46 PM

One of the reviews in my country sums this album up perfectly- Paris earns money by giving her name to various products. It could've been a new chocolate bar, it could've been a cd. Nothing more to it:P

Yes, but Paris Hilton had the huge media-hype and the big and expensive promotion. If "Milkshake" was a mega-hit single, it was because people liked it (different from "Stars Are Blind").

Her album is considered a flop. Too bad if you like her and she has lots of achievements in her "carreer", but her album wasn't one of them.

Time will tell, dude. Time will tell.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. If you don't like her, then don't listen to it. Every one deserves respect no matter how annoying they might be.

spookshow 22nd September 2006 08:15 AM

I saw the video for "Nothing in this world" and it's pretty good! very nice message to it

jeffycue 22nd September 2006 08:17 AM

jigglypuff 22nd September 2006 09:13 AM

turn it up is the best song. then again i have a excuse 4 liking it, it was produced by scott storch.

ruixiong89 24th September 2006 05:20 PM

Mmm ... I saw the video for Nothing in this World too, I think it's weirdsy and quirky but it has a message. "Stars are Blind" isn't that bad a song, but then yup, I do have to admit the music video is kind of weirdsy too. Jealousy though, is repetitive ... and has really BAD lyrics about her and Nicole?

Overall, I don't think the album is that bad, it's rather good surprisingly coming from Paris. But yup, that image of her has got to go. Though seriously I doubt she's like that in real life. It's a media image.

NEW VIDEO : PARIS FOR PRESIDENT

Pure heaven~

do it again 27th October 2008 10:50 PM

i love that video "look at bush it can't be that hard"
the only thing that bothered me was that guys eyebrows...

bondingo 27th October 2008 10:58 PM

That video was great but the song absolutely sucked. The chorus was terrible. The guys chanting was insanely annoying and ruined the song for me completely, and this is coming form someone who owns her first album and loved it.
