Kylie celebrates 20 top years

Diminutive diva Kylie Minogue is celebrating 20 years at the top of the pop tree and, to mark the occasion, is hosting a massive pop jamboree in London.
Quote:

SHE'S sung about it for ages, now pop princess Kylie Minogue is calling everyone around the world to come together and celebrate.

Having just become the first female recipient of the Music Industry Trust's Award, the divine Miss M is believed to be shelling out nearly $1.2 million for a party to acknowledge her claim to the throne as pop queen.

Marking Minogue's extensive commitment to the music industry, the bash is tipped to take place in August to coincide with the 20th anniversary of her first single, Locomotion, going to the top of the Aussie charts.

According to UK reports, the diminutive popette is planning to fly in close friends and family from Down Under and has also invited her grandmother in Melbourne to shake her stuff at the big event.

Guests have apparently been asked to converge at a Soho hotel before being bussed to the secret party location, with the singer recently spotted inspecting trendy venues around London district's Shoreditch and Canary Wharf.

The super-soiree is also believed to double as the pre-launch of Minogue's new album and simultaneously announce her 2008 world tour.

It's also a celebration of her return to the music world after her fight against breast cancer.
In a step back in time, Minogue is believed to have invited her old Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan, but will her French ex love rat Olivier Martinez get a guernsey? He should be so lucky.

Album + World tour = About bloody time... YAY!!!

bondingo 22nd June 2007 02:40 PM

World tour my...she probably won't even come to America. I'd love her to, but I doubt she will.

I am excited about the new album though, this no news crap is getting really old.

Halla 22nd June 2007 04:35 PM

I guess by world tour she means she'll tour China & Japan and maybe few other Asian locations too this time besides the usual EU + Australia locations. the Showgirl tour was supposed to tour those too before the cancellation.

I think Kylie might be able to do NY & L.A too. I wonder tho if she'll risk bringing the tour to the US at all, it's not very likely. it's a expensive & very grand arena tour, you can't take chances with the success of it.

anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing about the new album. hopefully ASAP :yes

BTW Kingofpop, I liked the Dannii spoof you had in your sig just lately. Eventho I love Neon Nights, it's funny spoof and so true in a way lol

Yeah, I can't blame her management for not wanting to take such an enormous financial risk, but it saddens me that her tours always leave her American fans in the dark :(

Beyond the Sea 22nd June 2007 04:44 PM

If she goes to New York, I HAVE to go!

Beyonce accused of cloning Kylie

Quote:

Beyoncé's metamorphosizing-robot performance "Get Me Bodied" at last night's BET Awards has caught the eye of a thousand Kylie Minogue obsessives, who are in a tizzy over the admittedly strong similarities between her arrival onstage and the way Minogue opened her shows way back in 2002. A clip of Kylie's entrance is above, and we have to say that watching it, we felt a bit bad for B: On first watch, we thought she kinda looked like a dollar-store Oscar replica, but the performance's low production values (are her suit's doors creaking?) were made only more obvious after watching the Australian diva's quite-form-fitting outfit, which was obviously inspired by repeated watchings of Tron.

Beyonce's show-stopping metallic robot outfit and wild dance routine on US television this week certainly wasn't inspired by an extra-terrestrial encounter.

The R&B diva's performance bears a striking resemblance to a show put on by Kylie Minogue back in 2002.

During Kylie's "Come Into My World" Fever tour, she opened the concert encased in a robot costume, which was based on designs from the 1927 film Metropolis by famed Austrian director Fritz Lang.

Beyonce, like Kylie, emerged from the space-age suit and began to sing and dance after its metallic panels opened up electronically.

However, the former Destiny's Child did throw in some uniquely "Bootylicious" robot dance moves at the BET awards show on Tuesday night.

It is not the first time Beyonce has been accused of stealing, with one current lawsuit forcing her to suspend production of her latest album.

The 25-year-old is currently being sued by soul star Des'ree after she covered one of her songs and put it on her B'Day Deluxe album without copyright permission.

Des'ree is seeking unspecified damages "in excess of $150,000," as well as an injunction on the distribution of the song and the video for it.

Wow! thanks for sharing that, i'm so slow, I have not even seen any pics yet... I love Doctor Who and Kylie so great combination, so freaking xcited to see it. I just wish she was in one of the futuristic episodes not the one set back in time, like this one on the Titanic.

She looks better than what I was expecting

Kelly Rowland set to cover Kylie Minogue

From sydney Confidential
July 10, 2007 08:40am

IT'S the kind of song that is hard enough to get out of your head as it is, now it's going to be even harder with news that Kelly Rowland is doing a cover version of one of "our Kylie's" biggest hits.

The catchy club track Can't Get You Out of My Head will be back on our airwaves in no time after the former Destiny's Child diva announced she would re-release Minogue's chart-topping dance tune.

The move follows fan feedback the rhythm and blues singer received after performing a version of the song at an exclusive London nightclub.

However, the new translation is set to have more of a hip-hop feel - very different to the bubblegum pop version originally released in 2001.
I love Kelly but this does not at all make me happy... *Hopes it's good*

Groove Armada praise new Kylie album

Tuesday, July 10 2007, 14:35 BST

By Daniel Kilkelly

Kylie Minogue's comeback album promises to be a huge success, according to Groove Armada star Andy Cato.

Minogue has recorded a track with the electronic music group and allowed the boys to hear a taster of her new album, which will be released by the end of this year.

"Ours is the best tune. The track we've done is a killer," Andy told the Daily Star. "I've heard snippets of her album here and there just to get the flavour of it and, as always, we've gone off on a bit of a tangent - but Kylie sounds great. She's just brilliant at giving it a real attitude. I think it's going to be a big one."

His bandmate Tom Findlay added: "It's sort of a Blondie pop with a stripped-back sound."
I don't know WTH stripped back means but I like it.

Partino 12th July 2007 06:40 PM

^Blondie Pop is always good ... I'd love to see a mix betwen Kylie and Debbie Harry
