I have a feeling that if that boyband (I keep forgetting their name...) wasn't that close to ayu, many people wouldn't freak out as much. Honestly, I think 99K is pretty decent for recent ayu's sales. Also, why compare her sales w/ kuu? It's not like we'll get extra meat if NL beats TRICK.

I think most of us are just panic because we want NL to be no. 1 this time and somehow the new album struggles again (I dun even know if I should consider the struggle has begun already).

And comparing NL with hikki's new album is useless. That's an English album... even I love hikki so much, I dun really care about This Is The One.

Yeah, I agree. I also am surprised that people here seem to almost be hoping that Avex will manipulate sales to make sure Ayu gets number one. What happened to wanting a fair competition?

As for these sales, I don't think they are good nor are they terrible. For 4 versions, you might even say its just slightly on the low side compared to Guilty. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

true 5 more Oricon days & anything can go in time to come

I'm quite statisfied with the sales and I love the album, which is the most important thing for me anyways. I think people need to stop comparing Ayu with boybands like ARASHI and TVXQ. Honestly, I think it's stupid to be comparing a solo artist with groups. What other Japanese female solo artist do you know that has been around for more than a decade and can still sell hundreds of thousands of albums? Some people need to get over themselves. :rolleyes :dead2

:yes

at this day & age , it's not easy for a solo artiste to sell a lot of physical units as compared to like say 10 years ago

the selling power of a group's definitely way up there now as compared to a solo artiste

sad but true

i dont think that's the reason...seems
like a lot of jpop artist are selling less lately.

i'm not too worried about sales nowadays. Ayu's already past her peak of "big sales" & it's great that an artist that has been around for so long is still hitting #1. :)

so true :yes

Well, I know the sales aren't so good but neither so bad :/
Japan loves boyband >_>

Beauty4123 26th March 2009 03:02 AM

the first day sales are pretty good :) i hope they'll increase during the week.

rakeru 26th March 2009 03:14 AM

definitely can't hope for anything near 500K in the first week. maybe 500K total....

Im predicting that NL will sell somewhere between 261k-275k its first week....but then again, im not a scientist.lmao.

GUILTY's first week sales were ~270k and she only sold 67k first day... Ayu should be able to hit 300k :)

Most charts and rankings threads get a big "whatever" from me. Next Level sells well? That's good. Next Level doesn't sell well? That's okay, it doesn't change my opinion about the album.

Lower sales just means she can't afford the entire Alexander McQueen RTW line this year.

Oh capitalism, look what you've done to us all.

TITANIC 26th March 2009 04:00 AM

I dont think NEXT LEVEL can sell more than Secret 1st week sales.. :(

LOL:D. Don't worry, she's gonna do more dates for her AT tour to get more money :P.

With all this talk about numbers, I hope no one is not actually reducing an album's quality to a numerical value. My perceptions about this album will remain unchanged regardless of number of units sold, chart position, how much is sold greater or less than other albums, streak number, amount of #1s, etc. I just care for it to be successful enough so she can continue doing what she is doing.

waterballoon 26th March 2009 04:53 AM

Well, I don't see how 99k is "bad". Whatever, it's too early to say anything.

pop909 26th March 2009 05:15 AM

May Avex will give her a Mirrorcle BOOST? LOL
You never know, the weekend changes EVERYTHING.

Haha of course it's not bad at all. She almost got the gold standard in 1 day, that's amazing on it's own. It's just a selfish fantasy of mine to see ayu go back to her million selling days. The realistic part of me will be happy if she breaks 600k.

Ahi_max91 26th March 2009 05:22 AM

Position: #1
Sales: 99,200

ayu ganbatte ne ^^!~ yaii...

I was secretly wishing that it would surpass GUILTY's total sales, seeing how this album is just a breath of fresh new air... but we'll see.

Anyway, one thing that confused me - are the 99k sales for 24/3 or 25/3? Because in Singapore now, it's already 26/3, and Japan is only an hour difference with Singapore, so I'm assuming that 99k is for 25/3?

I think the 99K sales started from yesterday Jun Xiang

Oricon's weird sometimes

like for the 1st week be it a new single or album release , they only count 6 days instead of 7

HamasakiKUN 26th March 2009 07:00 AM

99200 its sales from morning until afternoon aroun 4 Pm.. so 99200 it is not full first 24 hour sales...

SunshineSlayer 26th March 2009 07:13 AM

^Its the exact same sales period that every other artist has.
