I'll NEVER understand why people prefer a single than a new full lenght album... :shakehead

I don't really get it either. ALBUMS are infinitely better than singles no matter the circumstances. So you want to spend 1000-1500yen more to get the songs in some other form? Or is it the extra photoshoot that we don't get very much of on singles?

brener 21st December 2012 05:52 PM

i dont think its time for a full album, we all know this album is being released just because of the contract ayu have with avex to release one full album once a year... i think she needs to think about her creativity around her career

it has nothing to do with the money.
It's the hype thats around it.

I LOVE getting singles. I miss them and would love to get more of them one day.

Since when was that a 'contract'? She released two albums in 2010. What exactly was that?

I really wish people would stop trying to blame Ayu/avex for certain things that are just made up in their head.

In any case, so far in 2012, we've had Party Queen/A SUMMER BEST/two minis, so I don't think there's any sort of "Oh, you need to release a full album this year" stipulation in her contract otherwise she'd have released one in 2011.

chill out... being or not a contract, and of course she has a contract, everybody does, the thing is lacking of creativity. in the past few years, most of her songs sounds the same, three or four sounds new to me. and this is my opinion, you can disagree, but dont try to change my mind.

Like all artists when they are in the business since a long time IMO

Is it safe to expect a track list within 2 weeks?

I agree with TeamAyu2004 here. I love it to get about 4 singles before a new album, it just makes it more exciting.

It seems that you misunderstood.

"Since when was the one-album-per-year thing you mentioned a part of her contract?" was what I was saying... not "Since when did she have a contract?"

Also I wasn't saying that these releases are or aren't creative (I personally think they are) so that can be thrown out.

I really don't understand why for whatever reason, people want to put words in others' mouths when they never said anything remotely close to what is being referred to.

Maybe more like 3? We'll probably get a title at least soon and maybe a preview of a track at CDL? This also brings up a weird point... will this be the album that is going to get promoted at AT13 or whatever the tour is then?

Party Queen.
Most creative and unique album of her discography.
I will leave now.

What other styles do you want her to to? Opera? Enka? Beatbox? New Age?

To me, most of her songs these last few years sound quite new and distinct...

its not about style.

i just think that you are overrating this thing. it's my opinion, and what's wrong for me to think about the '1 full album per-year' of new songs? and Love songs was released late enough to be considered a 2011 album ;P

whatever, this conversation is getting nowhere since we'll never know her contract.

truehappiness 21st December 2012 06:11 PM

I won't ever really understand how some people say "Oh everything sounds the same..." when it just seems like they never actually listened to the albums. A lot of the tracks imo on Party Queen were rather varied and had a sound that she doesn't normally use (though the middle got very Michelle Branch meets Ayu).

As far as creativity goes, she's doing just fine I think, but I think the issue is that for whatever reason people want her to experiment with different genres and all that...

(but when she does, no one ever likes it, so she loses either way)

Basically, a lot of fans are setting themselves up to hate whatever she comes out with anyway regardless of the outcome.

Because it's a falsehood that's made up and for whatever reason when things like this get tossed around, people think it's the 'truth' like how the theory that we were getting five mini albums came out because LOVE and again were mini albums but now we have A Classical and this 14th album.

I prefer singles than nothing, of course, but... If she releases 3 singles and then she anounce a new album with 14 tracks, I know I'll have aproximately the same amount of new content with the album than we have with a single

And this is only because they decide to include those "single songs" into the album. If they didn't do that, I'll be really hyped with the album announcement.

IMO it's much better to have a full album than a single. :)

truehappiness 21st December 2012 06:18 PM

I think people are just too obsessed with getting singles. I don't really care what gets released as long as we get something new along with it (see A BEST 2/A SUMMER BEST). It really just looks as though people are complaining for the sake of complaining. Does it matter that all Ayu has done in the last 2 years are albums when they've mostly been completely all new material, especially in the long run? Sure, it seems less hype-train worthy and it doesn't really promote her upcoming albums as much, but if she doesn't want to release singles or doesn't plan on doing so from now on, why keep beating a dead horse?

i loved when she recorded Eyes, Smoke, Magic and the next LOVE, two of her best songs in years. the problem seems to be her japanese fandom...

Pieces_of_SEVEN 21st December 2012 06:22 PM

excited. hope the songs from LOVE and again are NOT featured.
