It's sad :(

Gustavopc 25th March 2015 01:03 AM

And people be complainig bout Kuu and ayu sales :P Well, at least it outsold DTK. I didnt know PLAYGIRLZ had sold that much tho

adantatu2 25th March 2015 01:18 AM

And the problem is that this is a group, and the label has to spend more.

The fact that they allow sales that poor to be number 2 on their best selling list makes me laugh. Like how you gonna start your sales from the end?

Why? I didn't get your point :yconfused

CoriKaru 26th March 2015 01:47 AM

Meaning it becomes harder to justify their activities (Singles, Albums, Music Videos, Concerts, Tours, etc.) considering they are more expensive to fund than a solo artist who is failing like ayumi.

thinkingoutloud89 26th March 2015 02:06 AM

^ayumi is not failing since she is probably one of the richest chics out there
people should stop to equal sales with money they get
not even big selling artist get much out of a release....the release is more like a vehicle for concert tours, goodies, CMs ands stuff....thats where the money comes from

But they are not more expensive to fund, I don't think the salary of the total members of AS makes even a quarter of ayu's. Also korean industry pays very little to artists.

CoriKaru 26th March 2015 06:10 PM

Then throw in any other solo artist that fits the example. The concept remains the same. More bodies. More money. This is what adantatu2 meant.

AFTERSCHOOL albums
28,489 PLAYGIRLZ
5,643 AFTERSCHOOL BEST
4,813 Dress to kill
4,227 Virgin
3,750 THE BEST OF AFTERSCHOOL -Korean Ver.-

That's depressing. I love them since their debut and it's a shame that such a good group is so poorly managed. Dress to Kill is an epic album and the sales probably weren't even enough to pay for their grocery bill for that month. Plus, I also don't see the point of releasing a compilation after only two studio albums.

Just for the record: I'm still crying that Juyeon left the group. She was my favorite member since "AH". I even got her card when I bought VIRGIN.

Yes :)
It's more complicated and expensive to keep a girlgroup, especially one from Korea. You have to spend more. That's the reason for groups like 4Minute and T-ara to stop their japanese releases.

visionfactory 27th March 2015 12:56 AM

But 5,000 copies of an album (3,000yen) is worth more than 15,000 copies of a single (1,000yen) and 16,000 copies is the maximum they have sold in korea so it's not a bad number for Pledis at all

JackieRos 27th March 2015 02:18 PM

I don't think we can compare sales to other artist.
I mean when has a Korean group done super well when they release in Japan.

Like I always said sales doesn't mean anything about quality of the music.

Kara and SNSD did pretty well :)

adantatu2 27th March 2015 06:46 PM

A PINK is selling pretty well, their last single sold more than 50k.
AOA sold like 20k with their last single.
KARA is releasing a summer single and SNSD a single in April, so we'll see their sales.

T-ARA and now AFTERSCHOOL, both released a best, and I'm sad because I don't think we can expect more japanese releases from them.

visionfactory 28th March 2015 05:57 AM

I still have hope in T-ARA and AFTERSCHOOL getting more activities in Japan!

APink had 9 editions for their single though, AOA also had 9 editions, they have several cheap limited editions to boost their sales, it's hard to say how well they'd do without those.

Kara and SNSD did really well, Kara's second Japanese album has sold over 750,000 copies and SNSD's first album has sold over 850,000 copies.

There simply wasn't enough hype about Afterschool, which is a shame.

They released 3 editions only :shakehead the random CD label pic doesn't count as "another edition", same contents and cover

Afterschool did the same with Shh, 2 editions and a third with random CD label pic

If APink only has 3 editions why does soundscan list 7 editions in the top 20?
4 member versions sold over 5,000 copies, that's over 20,000 extra copies sold from 4 member versions alone.
