You mean how much does it take to get a #1 weekly album? Or a #1 yearly album? Weeklies very, from 250k all the way to 1 million this year. For yearly, here's the past few albums:

2005 - Mariah Carey, "The Emancipation of Mimi" - 5 million
2006 - Carrie Underwood, "Some Hearts" - 4 millions
2007 - Daughtry, "DaughtrY" - 3 million (???)


Off-topic, but I really feel like HEART STATION will hit the million, just based on ULTRA BLUE's chart trajectory. HEART STATION sold about 3k this week, which is what ULTRA BLUE sold in its last week in the the top 50. At that point, it had sold 859,852. After ULTRA BLUE fell out of the top 50, it still went on to sell a total of 909,113. That means ULTRA BLUE sold 50,000 copies even after it fell out of the top 50. If HEART STATION manages to do that, it will get to 1,020,000.

Isn't this Utada's 10th anniversary in Japan as well? Automatic came out in December of 98. Or because it came out so late in the year is 99 considered her debut year?

It's actually been a fulfilling 10th Anniversary for me!!

HS will eventually sell 1 million, but i just hope it won't take THAT long to reach it. but it definately will soon enough.

I just would like it to sell 1 million by the end of the year. That way it can be included as one of the MILLION SELLERS of 2008!
