This Is The One is FIERCE.

TakaSama 13th March 2009 01:41 PM

I got my physical copy tonight. A couple of comments - there are no lyrics in the regular booklet, just song credits followed by a bunch of pictures of Utada. (The pictures are fun). For the Japanese press, there is an extra booklet with the English lyrics and their Japanese translations.

The album is kinda meh for me. I think I'd take The Workout over Automatic Part II, and that's saying something. Some of the tracks are pretty/catchy, but they aren't going to have long term replay value for me, I think. The lyrics really lack the substance of her other work. I really like apple & cinnamon, but that's about it. FYI is good, but I prefer the original Ryuichi Sakamoto song...

This all being said, I'm going to play it a couple more times and try to really digest it.

My album ranking:

Deep River > Ultra Blue > Heart Station > Distance > Exodus > First Love > This is the one

So much for waiting for my copy, I totally caved...xD and the album sounds great! I love FYI, Apple&Cinnamon, Taking My Money Back, This One and Dirty Desire the most <3 The only song I don't really like is Me Muero.

U-GO-BOY 13th March 2009 02:04 PM

yea I don't like Me Muero too

I downloaded the album earlier on , will be giving a listen after I downsize the files since I don't need a 320kpbs version of the whole album

ayumisrael 13th March 2009 03:02 PM

Really liked - On And On, Apple And Cinnamon and Dirty Desire.
Nice - This One (Crying Like A Child), Me Muero, Taking My Money Back.
I don't like - FYI, Come Back To Me, Poppin', Automatic part II - very dissapointed.

Overall this album has a few good songs but overall I don't like it and I will say it's one of hikki's weakest =\. Just couldn't get connected to most of it.
I will listen to the 3 I really liked a lot.
I liked EXODUS more.

Maemi 13th March 2009 03:33 PM

Guys where did you download it? o__o;

EDIT: I just found the 320 kbps one.

~Inori~ 13th March 2009 03:41 PM

I only like a few songs on the album. FYI, Poppin', Apple and Cinnamon, Taking My Money Back and This One (Crying Like A Child).

WTF @ Automatic part deux. WTH was she thinking? Should've left that crap in the basement.

KarenPang 13th March 2009 03:47 PM

well at least lyrics wise it's much more PG rated fare unlike Exodus :dead2

The songs that I have listened on This Is The One are pretty good

Poppin's something that you either will like or dislike

SURREAL__RAINBOW 13th March 2009 03:50 PM

On And On and Apple And Cinnamon the best :D

WHOOO LEAK!!!! Bout time too! Im in love with Dirty Desire and Poppin lol.

Zeke. 13th March 2009 04:36 PM

Basically the only song that I LOVE is "This One (Crying Like A Child)". It's perfect. Sounds really similar to Koda Kumi's walk. The intro chords and such. I get that everyone has different opinions but this song really is produced amazingly and everything about it is great. I'm surprised, and disappointed, that it's not the favorite for everyone. Lol.

I like "On and On", "FYI", "Apple & Cinnamon", "Dirty Desire" - but they are songs I could live without. If anyone else sang them I probably wouldn't like them.

It's an alright album. I guess I prefer Utada Hikaru and don't really have a need for her to become a big American star if her music in Japan is better.

But again, I have "This One (Crying Like A Child)" on repeat.

stickyrice 13th March 2009 04:50 PM

It's a good album.

I love Apple and Cinnamon as well as Dirty Desire. The rest were just ok.

Nothing spectacular here really. Personally, I prefer Exodus over this.

Maemi 13th March 2009 05:05 PM

I like: On and On, FYI, Apple and Cinnamon, This One (Crying Like A Child) and Dirty Desire. Come Back To Me has become too repetitive.

Apple and Cinnamon is the best song from this album. I even like the text and everything else <3 The refren is very nice.

Unfortunately, I've the same opinion I had for Exodus. It's ok, with some really good and cool songs, but on other side it also has some really crappy songs. So this is one of the weakest albums in her discography!

jbrat2219 13th March 2009 05:17 PM

The album is okay, not overly impressed but I love On And On, This One, Automatic Part II, and Me Muero. Taking My Money Back is growing on me quickly, although I won't say why. I think I may just buy these individual tracks seeing as I probably won't listen to the rest of the album.

Am I the only one who likes Automatic Part II way more than the original?

njanjayrp 13th March 2009 05:20 PM

I am really starting to love This one as I find the lyrics really nice <3

FuNsTyLe 13th March 2009 06:37 PM

I like poppin'... its very cool
