Hoping for consistant sales at least for the first week. Hopefully numbers wont fall below 10,000.
Praying for at least 100,000 copies in the first week.

I don't think that's really fair. Fan or not, if you don't like something, then you are under no obligation to buy it. The artist is selling their product to us and its up to us, the consumer, to judge whether it is worth buying or not. Even for me, I don't buy blindly from my various favorite artists; I just buy the products that I like the most and feel are worth the price tag - its up to the artist/record company to make me believe that they are. Record companies don't make PVs and covers just for the hell of it, they do it in the hopes that it will appeal to the consumers and they can make their money back + extra; that's why they need to make sure that what they are expecting people to pay for is actually something appealing to the audience. Sometimes they hit and sometimes they miss.
Albums and especially albums + dvd + 2dvds are expensive. I don't think only 4 pvs is necessarily the problem, but more so the quality of the pvs. Had they been 4 high quality pvs, I think more people would shell out their money.

I agree :)

If Ayu was a Kana Nishino back in 2000-2002..she wouldnt even be selling 80k in 3 days now

tokyoxjapanxfan 22nd March 2012 05:31 PM

(As smart phones increase in Japan, all "digital" artist's sales are dropping because chakuuta/chakuuta full are the only things Japan ever really cared about...selling a lot on iTunes or getting number 1 on iTunes for weeks really has no impact on people, at least now. Could change in the future.)

I wonder if, as the years go buy and Japan is -obviously- moving into the digital music market, they will finally start adding in digital albums sold via iTunes, etc.

I always thought that the day Ayu got a #2 album I would be really like, affected by it, but I don't care haha. Maybe it'll push her to be a bit more... proactive in making more interesting music/videos/promotion. Of course, I don't dislike the album, it still lacks in some aspects.

And I agree with Sunshine. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to buy into something, haha. Although I was surprised because I had assumed tons of TA members would have pre-ordered and whatnot. I guess not? :P

I thought the same. Where have TA members been when the album hit the stores? x)

Didz-19 22nd March 2012 05:46 PM

maybe the TA members when broke? Hahaha

Deep snow 22nd March 2012 06:10 PM

I get that neither she nor most of us care much about sales, but I can't help but feel sad that Party Queen doesn't sell so queenly. Perhaps this is too early to say that. Here's hoping.

One thing that AYU fans fear of,

#2 Album

pimenta 22nd March 2012 06:20 PM

I really like acid black cherry and the 『2012』 album is good, but... this is totally unexpected. I was expecting Ayu at #1 and acid black cherry at #2.

I really hope the sales can pic up a little and that she passes the 100k D:

TA members, go buy the album!! >.<

Maemi 22nd March 2012 06:34 PM

well 65k, it's not bad at all :)

Refix 22nd March 2012 07:00 PM

Hmm...the sales keep decreasing. Hope in this weekend it will increasing.

jpopfan018 22nd March 2012 07:21 PM

The sales are actually not too bad. Hopefully the album will sell enough to cover the production and advertising cost. I'm happy enough that we have a new album to add into the pool of songs for ayu to use in her tour.

TeamAyu2004 22nd March 2012 07:29 PM

^ lol... advertising cost... you be funny....

I think if this does not make number one in the end... they might actually promote her next album!
I think avex things Ayumi's name sells it self... sadly this is kinda of true because she may hit 100k with the weeks end... and thats with little to no promotion.... but if they want better sales they need to get out there more.

Deep snow 22nd March 2012 08:06 PM

Why isn't she anywhere on TV, again?

toniayu 22nd March 2012 08:26 PM

the sales might be getting better when Ayu appears on TV the following weeks :)
She's the Queen anyway

Personally, I think the execution was brilliant. Taking the cover art at surface value will lead to disappointment; if people take a few minutes to consider the purpose then they will find it fits the bill. For this reason I absolutely love these covers as it looks like a lot of work has gone into the concept. However, I don't think they're comparable to her classier cover art. They need to be looked at from a different perspective: these covers aren't just about her looking gorgeous but, rather, they're putting out a message. The downfall is not the tackiness but the fact the producers neglected to include a strong anchor within the cover art (eg: a sample of the lyrics that might help set the tone) that would ensure that only their preferred interpretation of the image would be put across - as a result they left the cover art much more open for a negative response.

I agree with this. Even more so because we're coming into an age where print media is slowly becoming redundant and this means that magazines definitely aren't enough to reach the intended audience.
