Arashi's 44th single grabs the No.1 spot on Oricon weekly ranking

Quote:

Popular group Arashi's 44th single "Dare mo Shiranai" (went on sale on May 28) sold 462,000 copies during the first week, and it topped Oricon's latest weekly single ranking.

This is the group's 33rd consecutive chart-topping single since "PIKA★★NCHI DOUBLE" (released in February 2004), and it is also their 40th in total.

With this single, Arashi became the 2nd artist (including both male/female, group/solo artists) to achieve 40 chart-topping singles, as only B'z has accomplished it before since Oricon started this ranking.

In addition, Arashi's live DVD "ARASHI ARAFES'13 NATIONAL STADIUM 2013" also topped this week's DVD ranking for the 2nd consecutive week.

When including this week's sales which was 41,000 copies, the total sales for this DVD attained 519,000 copies, and it became the first DVD that sold over 500,000 copies in 2014.

Moreover, the cumulative sales of the group's music DVDs (15 DVDs in total) has now reached over 8 million copies which has never been done by any artist other than Arashi.

Arashi's starring movie 'PIKA☆NCHI' to get a spin-off

Quote:

It was revealed that there will be a spin-off movie of "PIKA☆NCHI" series which stars all the Arashi members, 10 years after the previous release.

The spin-off will be titled "PIKA☆★☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Tabun HAPPY" (read as "Pikanchi Half"), and this will mark the first time in 7 years for the members to star in a same movie together since "Kiiroi Namida", released in 2007.

The series' first movie titled "PIKA☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Dakedo HAPPY" was Arashi's first starring film all together, and was released in October of 2002. It was about the youth of 5 high school students that lived in multi-unit apartments called Yashio Danchi.

3 years later in 2004, its sequel "PIKA☆☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Dakara HAPPY" (read as "Pikanchi Double") was also released, and it featured the reunion of the 5 guys in their 20s.

For the spin-off episode, it will depict the 5 guys that are now in their 30s, and have a reunion after 10 years as they're running into problems with their family or work.

This spin-off will be placed as the series' "2.5th" work, as Matsumoto Jun explains, "If we placed it as the 3rd release, it would be too high of a hurdle. We want to enjoy it loosely from the '2.5th' position."

Though Arashi sang the theme songs for both previous films, they will not be singing for this spin-off as it's the "2.5th" work.

Reportedly, the plan for the spin-off was started in April. Ninomiya Kazunari also says the film will be "quite loose, since it suddenly started."

"PIKA☆★☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Tabun HAPPY" will be screened limitedly at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL during August 1st to the 31st.

Waku Waku Gakkou is their yearly organised event where they will visit schools & act the role of teachers and teaching a variety of subjects to students

That said , I'm not so keen to pay so much $ for this live streaming of Waku Waku Gakkou but it's the 1st time it's happening for this event of theirs + Singapore is the only South East Asian country that's getting this opportunity

Let alone , the thought of meeting so many nut cases / insane ARASHI fans in person , uh thanks but no thanks :no I've heard from my sister that people from nearby Malaysia & Indonesia are planning to fly in just to watch this in the cinemas oO

Also , it doesn't help the screening venue's so inconvenient , I mean seriously Balestier ?

Anyway , Shaw Theatres has updated this at their end

Arashi’s “Pika☆nchi” Returns to Big Screen After 10 Yrs

Quote:

After two movies, “Pika☆nchi LIFE IS HARD Dakedo HAPPY” in 2002 and “Pika☆☆nchi LIFE IS HARD Dakara HAPPY” in 2004, it was announced that Arashi will star in “Pika☆nchi” latest installment with “Pika☆★☆nchi LIFE IS HARD Tabun HAPPY (version 2.5)“.

In the said movie, Shun (Aiba Masaki), Bon (Matsumoto Jun), Takuma (Ninomiya Kazunari), Haru (Satoshi Ohno), and Chu (Sakurai Sho), will again meet after 10 years due to a certain incident. The five of them will talked about their life during those 10 years that they were separated.

As for doing this movie, Matsumoto commented that they want to do something foolish again for their 15th anniversary since debut while Ninomiya said that the movie was done on a whim so expect it was put on loosely.

V6‘s Inohara Yoshihiko also provided the movie’s draft with Kawahara Masahiko (Pika☆ nchi series, Hachimitsu to Clover) in script, and Kimura Hisashi (Kindaichi Shounen no jikenbo, ATARU) will direct the movie.

The movie will be screened exclusively at Tokyo Dome City Hall for four times a day starting on Aug 1st to 31st. 250,000 audiences are expected to be mobilized.

Arashi visits Tohoku region for Fuji TV's 'The Music Day'

Quote:

Popular idol group Arashi will showcase their special segment titled "Arashi no Tohoku Mirai Tabi" on Fuji TV's special live broadcast music program "THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara" on July 12. For this special, the members each visited a different part of the disaster-struck Tohoku region. Arashi, who visited the region 2 years ago and last year as the main personalities of Fuji TV's "24-Hour TV" program, will show the "future" of the Tohoku region as it recovers from the March 11 earthquake tsunami disaster in 2011.

Member Aiba Masaki will assume the role of the train conductor of the popular Sanriku Railway for a day, while Ohno Satoshi documents the life of a father and son who do hotate (scallop) fishing, and he also attempts hotate fishing himself. Meanwhile, member Ninomiya Kazunari revives his popular "24-Hour TV" segment "Ninomiya Kazunari no Nihon Chousa" specially for Tohoku.

Furthermore, member Matsumoto Jun reunited with the wind ensemble from a high school in Miyagi Prefecture which he performed with last year, and conducts them again. On the other hand, Sakurai Sho will meet the members of the group known as "The Future Nadeshiko Japan" who Sakurai played soccer together back in 2012, again.

Arashi, who has performed mini-concerts in Miyagi and Iwate since the disaster, performed their concert this year in Fukushima for the first time. After performing more than 10 hit songs including "Kotoba Yori Taisetsu na Mono" and "Dare Mo Shiranai", they shook hands with every person that came to their concert. Sakurai commented, "Even though it was only for a short time, I had a lot of fun with everyone here. I hope you will all look over our smiling faces."

Arashi announces new album and 5-dome tour

Quote:

Arashi announced during the last showing of their event "Arashi's Waku Waku School 2014" at the Tokyo Dome on June 29 that they will be holding a 5-Dome tour this year as well.

As the event came to an end, member Sakurai Sho (32) started off by saying, "We have a very important announcement." Next, member Aiba Masaki (31) said, "In Fall, we will be releasing our 13th original album." and then Matsumoto Jun (30) added, "We will also go on tour. This year it's also going to be a 5-Dome tour." much to the joy of fans present.

Starting at the Fukuoka Dome on November 14 to Tokyo Dome on December 23, there will be 18 performances in total housing over 845,000 fans. This will be the largest 5-Dome tour in the history of the group.

Due to high demand, Arashi's concert tickets often end up on the black market, to which Ninomiya Kazunari (31) appealed to the fans, "On the whole we have more performances." Ohno Satoshi (33) added, "We will be running at full speed till the end of the year, so please keep up with us!"

This is the 4th time that Arashi has held the "Waku Waku School" event, which is made to resemble a "stay over in school" event. There were 6 sessions of the event held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka and Tokyo Dome, engaging over 246,000 fans. Furthermore, the last session was also broadcast in Shanghai and Singapore, where 950 lucky fans were able to watch the event live.

Arashi's 5-Dome Tour Schedule is as follows:

Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome: 11/14, 11/15, 11/16
Kyocera Dome Osaka: 11/27, 11/28, 11/29, 11/30

Sapporo Dome: 12/12, 12/13, 12/14
Tokyo Dome: 12/19, 12/20, 12/21, 12/22, 12/23
