I'm still severely in love with Dance in the Rain. I don't know what it is, but I haven't enjoyed a song this much in a long time.

Koda Kumi turns into her 15th year!

Koda Kumi turns into her 15th year! An arena tour has announced!

Koda Kumi held a live which she invited 10,000 fans (limited to fan club members) in commemoration of 15th anniversary of her debut on December 6th. The venue, STUDIO COAST, was the venue for her long-cherished first one-man live. The reason she picked STUDIO COAST as the venue was that she has been having "a passion for singing" and "feelings of gratitude to supportive fans" since her debut.

The live started with her latest single, "Dance In The Rain". It was composed of all of her 58 singles, including her debut single "TAKE BACK". The set list was, you can say, the best singles collection. It was the super-premium live that you could enjoy her career path in one day.

She talked to us looking back on her career path, "I'm grateful for things that I could've done; to tell people the importance of love, and to give someone a supportive push through my voice and music. I'm also grateful for conducting the lives and releasing singles that impressed fans. Mostly, I was very glad to hear the supporting voice from fans. At first, my CD didn't sell well, so sometimes I thought of quitting, but the fans were waiting for me and gave me a supportive push. I learned that the music that I want to do doesn't always become a hit. A good luck and good timing are also important. After 14 years, I still think it's important to believe that you can make it come true if you keep on believing even when you are in an unpleasant situation. I owe what I am now to my fans and staff, not on my own. I'll keep on singing with all of my experiences."

She rushed through her 20's. She appeared on a lot of media, held tours and made new songs in between. She used to have a full schedule, however, she committed to music again this year and concentrated on producing. She had achieved many milestones: releasing singles 12 weeks in a row, double million sales of her best album, holding lives at Tokyo Dome twice, and making the world's first virtual reality music video. What does she aim at now?

"I still like J-POP, but from now on, I'd like to be more flexible and try other kinds of music. We made the world's first virtual reality music video this year and I met new people such as a new director and a new cameraman. Meeting new people, which happened a lot, was very nice. When trying new things, there are always unexpected happenings. Then, you find new aspect of yourself due to those happenings. I felt it very strong in this year. I came up with ideas based on my experiences, so our works were beyond our expectation when we finished; it happened a lot. I am glad I can go on a tour next year, and I will make it wittier and more entertainment. I will do my best to make the next year to be memorable year to my fans."

She has been unconventional and challenging new things actively, so she is continuously evolving. She is called "QUEEN OF LIVE KODA KUMI". We cannot stop looking forward to what queen would do in her "Koda Kumi 15th Anniversary Live Tour 2015 supported by Mercedes-Benz"

She performed 58 songs? woah.

Gustavopc 6th January 2015 05:00 AM

^ It was a medley, and she split the singles into two setlists. There were actually four small one hour long lives, and in each she sang half of her singles

Gosh, this text made me anxious for her album! I hope it really means new things on it. I wonder if it's finished by now, at least the recording process. Hope we get a date soon!!

On Ayu's CDL I got a piece of paper with Kuu and tour dates.

happiholic★ 6th January 2015 01:04 PM

I'm a little surprised that her virtual reality music video isn't at least a bit more recognized. I mean, I can't help but feel if Beyonce or someone had done it there would be a big fuss. I guess because Kuu is an outdated J-Pop singer no one cares :P I just hope that a more popular Western act doesn't try to claim they did it first and everyone believes them because they are more popular.

Oh yeah! I would love to get another song like Lay Down or V.I.P. or Under. She must have song like on of those on each album as mandatory.

Luck16 6th January 2015 09:37 PM

To me a club banger is a song that people can get down to in a club lol if that's the case I think she had quite a few since 2012 like Dreaming Now!, IS THIS TRAP?, LOL, SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA, CRANK THA BASS, etc... maybe the description you've been looking for is a slutty sexy hot club banger :laugh but to me SO FEVER is the definition of that :love

chocopockymaster 6th January 2015 09:37 PM

I must be the only person that can't stand Lay Down. My most recent club-banger of hers is totally XXX. :heart

Zeke. 6th January 2015 11:05 PM

Lay Down is boring. She hasn't had a good club banger in years.

mi|kshake 6th January 2015 11:25 PM

Loved reading that article - can't wait for more news on the next album!

Luck16 7th January 2015 03:02 AM

I love Lay Down. Gives me so much energy when I'm working out

orangeakira 7th January 2015 03:42 AM

Yeah Lay Down is amazing. Have you guys heard it properly with a subwoofer? The bass is so intense. I just wish she didn't fuck it up with the horrible pronunciation. Lay Down the Raw.

Tom Punks 7th January 2015 04:07 AM

I both massively stan for Lay Down and find it super boring at the same time. idk
