Glad to see this single sale better than last one until now in the first week.

talkin' 2 myself first week sale was around 74,000.

Now this single is over 80,000.

Congratz ayu!

freedreamer 11th April 2008 04:24 AM

I hope her concert over the weekends will boost sales...

Ayumiko 11th April 2008 04:28 AM

lol...mind as well. Ayu might get #2 for the rest of the week but will still get #1 weekly.

cttncandy 11th April 2008 04:33 AM

tomorrow the drop will be probably be down to 4-5k, people will probably have a heart attack lol They should pick up again during the weekend though. Its just the pattern... I think the single is actually doing quite well :cool

mangoo_x3 11th April 2008 04:39 AM

I really hope ayu won't lose your number one consecutive single thing... i have a question, why did you times the sales that oricon gave out by 1.75?

cttncandy 11th April 2008 04:47 AM

This is my humble opinion, and I know it will probably ruffle some of your people's feathers... but here it goes anyways....

Ayu is at this point pretty much just producing whatever she wants to. That's her power, and her right as a powerful and established artist. She has earned the right to do whatever the heck she wants to do. You guys don't think Ayu could have a huge hit again if she wanted to? Of course she could! Ayu could hire the most bad-ass team and put together and amazingly catchy out-of-this-world tune and blow the charts out of the water if she wanted to. I guarantee she has access to pretty much anybody and everybody in the music industry that can get together and produce something catchy and attention-grabbing. But that is not what she is all about, she is not about producing things that will steal the charts, she is about producing what she feels in her heart is right. And at this point her music is considerable less mainstream than before. She is not exactly producing catchy songs- she is just doing her thing. If she was really trying to produce another hit, I am sure they would be scouting the whole world to find the best producers and arrangers to make sure something amazing was put out there. She has the power to do that and she is also choosing not to act upon that power. Don't be surprised if Ayu becomes less and less mainstream, it is happening already! I am not saying she is trying to fade away- because she is not, but she is just doing things her own way and is not apologizing for it. I would be surprised if she even really cares about the number one streak. That's bragging rights for the record company, but Ayu has never ever strucked me as the kind of person that would be defined by such vague things.

Well, not all the stores in Japan provide sales figures to oricon everyday. Those usually report the numbers at the end of the week. So basically the indexes oricon posts everyday just reflect the sales of the singles/albums in the cd stores that reports sales to oricon everyday. I guess by the end when all the numbers are collected, they figure out that the total sales of singles are usually 1.75 times the index, while 1.7 times for albums.

So this is how we predict the total sales of cds everyday for the top 3 (since oricon does not show the indexes of the cds below top 3).

I agree with cttncandy - Ayumi is definitely going through rough times, and her therapy is making music. Hopefully, when she's fully recovered her spirits, she can produce that ridiculously catchy tune we've all been waiting to hear. :)

Yeah, i see your point. But imo, ayu has always been true to herself and to us. I think the main problem is that she is not the newest artist in Jpan. She's still the queen, but she might not be the most popular artist right now. It's kinda hard to explain, so i'm gonna compare her with Madonna (damn u comparisons >.<!)
Madonna's still selling great, at her age she's still a fashion icon, but she's not as popular as she was in the 80's.
They're not at their best moment, but nobody can't take them form the place they are right now.
After 10 years, ayu's still one of the most influent (if not the most) artist in Jpan

bluegie 11th April 2008 07:18 AM

I understand and support both of your ideas. This applies to hikki as well. She's not the most popular rite now, but both she and ayu are one of those influential artists rite now :D.

hayasaki 11th April 2008 07:34 AM

same as Namie...XD

Hikki, Ayu, and Namie are one of the most influential artist in the J-Pop Industry and will continue for many years ...

ayu_ready? 11th April 2008 08:04 AM

Well if you expected it to do amazingly it is =P
I kinda thought it will even sell less, like 80,000 first week but at the end it does way better!

I 2nd that! And after all, she isn't making rubbish, as her songs are as great as ever, it's just that she has matured as an artist, as I guess she accomplished everything a musician can do. Considering the fact Mirrorcle World isn't what you'd call pop now days, it's great that it is actually able to top the charts and sell better than many other poppy stuff, and I guess she just decided to "dance to her own drums". Oh and I don't really get it why were people expecting HUGE sales just because this is an Anniversary single?

1) It seems like Shuchishin has an outstanding 3rd day chart performance. It's not often to see a small drop between the 2nd and 3rd day indexes. Not to mention it's quite rare to see there's an increase on the 3rd day.

2) Looks like MW's 4th day index is under normal pattern. As I said before, 4th day index is always the lowest. Though I have to point out that MW may suffer another low index tomorrow because that's the actual "4th day" for other releases (that is... Friday rite?). I assume that MW will go up a bit during Sat and Sun sales.

3) You can see ZARD's index is even worse. So this shows Shuchishin is having an abnormal 3rd day sales, whlie MW's sales is pretty normal.

DONE.. :P
