Sundae 5th June 2009 07:34 AM

I don't like the Jonas Brothers either but now apparently the Wonder Girl's US album, set to release in Sept-Oct, will have lyrics written and composed by the Jonas Brothers. Also Nobody english version will be released as digital single on 27th June.

It's like good news and bad news with them.

elepop 5th June 2009 04:17 PM

I don't know about the Jonas Brothers, but I know they are extremely popular. So that's pretty good for Wonder Girls. I cannot wait until they debut! I hope their album won't be full of covers of their own songs in English!! 2 or 3 like BoA is fine though. I still think that most of them need to practice their English more though. Ye Eun sounds pretty great. But the rest... XD

NEWS NEWS NEWS!
Quote:

From 27th June, the Wonder Girls will begin a new chapter in America as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 (American leg), with their last on 22nd August. English versions of their Korean hit songs Nobody and Tell Me will also be released soon.

According to a JYP Entertainment representative, "The Wonder Girls had signed with one of Hollywood's top talent agencies, CAA in October 2008. They also inked a contract with Jonas Brothers company, Jonas Group to join them on their concert tour. They will also release the english version of Nobody first followed by Tell Me through digital channels. Their full-length english album will be available in September or October."

With regards to using Nobody as the debut single, the JYP Entertainment representative explained, "Through discussions with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and Jonas Group, they felt that Nobody had an irresistible charm surrounding it. The music and overall feel of the song were perfect plus it helped to accentuate the image of the Wonder Girls very well. Industry critics in America also felt that the retro 80s disco style of Nobody would be particularly refreshing, especially in the American music scene."

As the producer for the Wonder Girls, JY Park also outlined to the media about his strategy with regards to Asian singers debuting in the European and American music markets. He said, "Formerly, Asian singers would rush to do collaborations with musicians in that country when they enter that market. But that's a grave mistake. We cannot just hand our artistes over to the American-European producers, we have to stand our ground and maintain our own unique flavor. Although the Wonder Girls and I are kinda nervous, we are also contended and excited about this at the same time. This is something that we have planned together for a long time, so I am sure we will not let everyone down. We hope that everyone will continue to show their support for us."

Before the Wonder Girls, SM Entertainment's BoA and YG Entertainment's Se7en have already make inroads into the American music scene. Everyone is full of anticipation about the Wonder Girls debut next. Meanwhile, continue to stay tuned to AKP for the latest on the Wonder Girls and our exclusive coverage on their debut.

They better release that CD in canada because I'm going to run and buy it!

edit:
by the way THEY ARE COMING to canada, I didn't realize it
but there are 2 DATES FOR VANCOUVER!!!
:D
too bad I don't live there..

elepop 5th June 2009 07:25 PM

^ No dates for Montreal?

I wouldn't be surprise though. Since The Jonas Brothers aren't popular here.

NEWS
WONDER GIRLS HAVE PLANS FOR CHINA TOO!
Quote:

The Wonder Girls were in Beijing, China today for a studio interview with Sina.com. There were the usual interview questions with the Wonder Girls which I am not going to write on much since we have ALL heard it before. What's important though was the interview with JY Park who revealed his masterplan outline about the Wonder Girls taking on America and China in the latter half of 2009.

JY Park confirmed that the Wonder Girls were indeed appearing on 13 shows for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 and said it would be a meaningful opportunity. He said that it was not simply taking 1 step but essentially going 3 - 4 steps away from others who were debuting at the same time. JY Park also said, "There's Toyota, Hyundai in America while Jackie Chan has also made a name for himself in Hollywood. But why isn't there an Asian artiste who can hold his own in the music industry? This is an excellent opportunity for us and although it's going to be a difficult one, I have to say that there is no better time for us to enter the industry then now."

JY Park also lavished praise on his charges, "When one goes to America, everyone has to start from scratch again. The Wonder Girls might be really popular in Korea because of Nobody, but it's nothing in America because no one knows about them. But I am very touched to see them being able to start from scratch again, with the same determination as they did before their debut in Korea and the strong will to want to excel again."

'In Korea, there will be people helping them to clean their rooms, handle their daily lifestyles for them because of their star status. But after going to America, I told them that they were not stars anymore, they have to start from scratch again, being just like how they were before their debut. They have to get their own necessities, clean their own rooms, etc. It's pretty difficult to adjust from being a star to a nobody in such a short time, but they were able to accept it and just do it effortlessly, so I am very impressed.

JYP also talked about plans for the Wonder Girls in China, "Actually, our plans for the Wonder Girls have a concert in China has been pretty much finalized for this winter. We hope that a lot of people will come to support them. Besides releasing an English album this autumn in America, we are also going to release a Chinese album at the same time as well. All of them have a Chinese name and have been learning the language constantly, hoping to meet their Chinese fans with their album as soon as possible."

This pretty much confirms that we won't see them in Korea much for 2009.

They must be really busy!
