Well, your statement is a bit rude. As I said that a few times during the past few years, ayu needs to go to a newer direction. She actually did try something new (NL) and she did try something a bit bolder in this album (as far as I've seen from the pics. I still haven't listened to any materials except the singles and microphone). She's not staying at the same place last she did for the past few years. Of course I want her to make something more innovative, but this is not something she can create all of the sudden. Fresh idea doesn't just click, especially for artists who have created more than dozens of songs.

You sound like she's so lazy and just picking things up from the recycle bin. And she deserves for lower sales just because you dun like the album? I dun mind people criticizing artists works (sometimes I do criticize ayu, hikki, etc.), but your comment is just out of manner.

(Sorry if I offend anyone. I dun wanna be rude but his comment is just totally off.)

Good sales I think the top 3 female studios of 2010 will look like this

1. Namie
2. Koda
3. Ayu

IMO thats really good considering this is Ayu's 11th album and her longevity in the industry has been amazing.

See I think that comment by Dark_hated is funny, lol.
It's like how Ku fans make fun of her ****tyness and it's usually all good in that hood.

At least she got number one 2 days...but I think that one of the reasons is that NEXT LEVEL was a better album than Rock & roll circus

She's gonna be #1 for the rest of the week (Or at least, she has been #1 since the album came out and is consistently ahead of UVERworld) unless you saw the AT09 #2 positions and thought those were for Rock'n'Roll Circus?

I was listening to it while walking home from work today and I actually found myself thinking "God, hurry up with this song so I can move onto the next one" and then finally "Hurry up with listening to Rock'n'Roll Circus songs so I can listen to something else" - it's something I've never found myself thinking before. Wanting an Ayu song to end so I don't have to listen to it? I'm trying... I really am. But I think that this might be... my least favorite Ayu album... I still love you Ayu though :luv2

Ouch. Sounds like this was a complete opposite reaction to an album that one would expect after holding out for so long.

Maybe you need to let the album grow on you?

bluegie 17th April 2010 08:53 AM

Yeah I think Masamune mistaken the album w/ the AT09 DVD. :)

I didn't say they DISLIKE her music, just that her image is more popular than her music, and the fact is that Ayu is doing better digitally, as Rule/Sparkle manage to beat WILD/Dr. physically and Sunrise sold way better digitally in 2009. Those are the facts. The digital sales of the songs do show what songs are popular, WILD and Dr. were more or less popular however not more popular than any of the songs Ayu released during the same year and many other female artists who did even better than Ayu (Nishino Kana and JUJU). Namie is popular for her image and dancy tunes, but that doesn't make her songs are huge hits.

The Ku trolls should go away as no one even cares anymore :innocent

SURREAL__RAINBOW 17th April 2010 09:58 AM

Maybe it will be like this but it depends if newer female artists will become popular.
kuu doesn't fit the list though, BEST ~third universe~ is also a compilation album so it doesn't fit the list.
Without the BEST kuu could be the third.

toniayu 17th April 2010 11:21 AM

Are you kidding? :thud For today's standards, this isn't low. For Ayu's standards from 3 years ago, yeah it is.

I think that music station actually helped a bit with the lower decrease.
Without the perfomance yesterday it could decrease in a half again.

As for the tour there wasn't a tour date yesterday, there is today and tomorrow. ^^

Mirrorcle Monster 17th April 2010 12:14 PM

Ayu is the most important female artist in Japan, Namie hasnīt been so famous past years, and Koda neither, but Ayu has always been #1 in the charts

aura~ 17th April 2010 12:53 PM

hey.. but weekend sales aren't this ones.. those are from friday... and tomorrow we will know saturday sales, right? And the concert is today, not yesterday...

And there are many people in Japan who have simply stopped caring about Oricon,
Dont base her popularity on her "bad sales" on Oricon,
Because she's been getting #1 album on iTunes,
And also she is a very high ranking artist on mu-mo, and other online stores.

I think those who say she is unpopular are greatly exaggerating the situation.
If she wasn't popular, she wouldn't be able to fill arena after arena in one concert tour...

I will never understand where the pessimism comes from in this forum.

Thanks... I often fall on this thought of taking what Oricon says as truth... We are not in Japan, we are not exposed to everything Ayu does, or everything the media says about her. We also don't know what japanese think about her, and if she's really popular or not. We can only find answers in charts and sales, and the most trustable and popular one is Oricon... Then, we only know if ayu does good or bad from this...

Moreover, international fans often take every (sexy) little thing as a treasure... we apreciate the oricon charts, the #1, the polls, her records, if she gets a lot of promotion or not, the CM's, if the tour is long or not, every image no matter when it comes from, the prizes, if the merchandising is good or not, if she repeats songs or costumes in the tour, etc etc...

And I'm sure japanese fans doesn't care of half of this list... XDD

That's our problem...

before being an ayufan I didn't care of what an album was selling, or if it was #1 weekly.. in Spain we don't have those things (plus here if an album sells 100K is a HIT!)

So... yeah... we can't avoid it.. XD
