Excited for the movie but do you think BoA will really be taken seriously? Her English is the best out of the Asian artists but still a little choppy and awkward when spoken.

kinda afraid about that too :( but i dont think this movie is gonna be popular so i dont think its that big of a deal lol

ILoveGeniuses 27th January 2011 02:51 PM

@all.night.raver: Well i guess we'll just have to wait and see. Honestly, I do agree that BoA still needs to work A LOT on her English. I have however noticed that she seems to be beginning to more absorb the American culture and lifestyle. Just I don't think BoA's the Asian artist with the best English. People like Hikaru Utada and Yuna Ito for example are excellent, but that's more so due to where they grew up. Anyways, I did hear Tiffany from SNSD in English and hers' is pretty good too. Also, I've been keeping up with the WG's here in America, and the absolute most recent video had me stunned. Their English is seriously improving. It's much clearer and better spoken than it was like a year ago.

Anyways, about BoA, let's just hope she's been taking some major serious English classes. Jackie Chan does well without the most excellent English in the world, but I think that's usually cause he does action comedies in America. I can't see America liking that sorta broken English in a serious dance film.

Am I only one who is bored with whole "BoA in America" thread?

let that movie filming + eventual promo finish as fast as possible

hearted 27th January 2011 03:15 PM

^:roflmao
well atleast we get cute boa pics of her with huge pizzas??? XD
im excited if she's gonna release another english album, her first was really good :love though she needs to cut down with the autotune :grumpy

ILoveGeniuses 27th January 2011 03:39 PM

^agree with the autotune. And if she does another English album, she better get better promotion than last time.

hearted 27th January 2011 03:56 PM

^ugh totally!!! sm should really go to jype for some promotion advice

ILoveGeniuses 27th January 2011 04:03 PM

^agreed. It's amazing what some real promotion can do. Just look at WG's. They made their single "Nobody" @ #31 on the year end Billboard charts. BoA could manage that if she promoted a lot more.

hearted 27th January 2011 04:05 PM

^i think so too! her english songs are awesome for clubs and i showed Eat You Up to some of my friends here and they all LOVED it!!!

ILoveGeniuses 27th January 2011 04:17 PM

^I got the same reaction from most of mine as well.:D:D Sadly, showing friends just isn't enough to boost sales of an album enough to jump it up the charts into the top 20 unless you have like over a million friends.

BoA cast in leading role for Hollywood film, “COBU 3D”

Hallyu queen BoA will be making her Hollywood debut through the film, “COBU 3D“!

BoA will be starring alongside Derek Hough, the champion of America’s hit reality show, ”Dancing with the Stars“. The two stars play the role of dancers who grew up in vastly different environments, and so they knock heads when they first meet at an underground New York club. Although they start off as fierce rivals, they eventually fall into a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ type of love.

Duane Adler (who’s known for his work with “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up“) will be directing the film, and it’s being co-produced by Robert Cort, CJ Entertainment, and SM Entertainment.

“COBU 3D” aims to escape from the standard dance movies that focus on battles instead of delivering a solid storyline. The film will shed light on a beautiful love story, as well as spotlighting a variety of dance styles including tap, hip hop, and swing.

The movie is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and CJ Entertainment will be distributing it in Korea, China, and Japan. Lionsgate International will be the international sales agent, and they’re planning to begin pre-sales at the Berlin International Film Festival this February.

Meanwhile, BoA will begin official preparations for her role this coming Spring!

cobu what

ILoveGeniuses 28th January 2011 02:43 PM

^Interesting... but what does "cobu" even mean? But i suppose if they cast her as a foreigner that America won't mind the not-so-perfect English as much.

Mirai Noah 28th January 2011 07:25 PM

Whoa, people might actually watch this movie since Derek Hough's in it!

But yeah, what does COBU mean?

U-GO-BOY 28th January 2011 07:51 PM

COBU is an event in New York? @.@
