Namie doesn't have anything to do with it. She wasn't the one dancing that dance...

Cherry Dynamite 17th February 2010 04:14 AM

I wish those people will just think it's a promotion of their culture >.>

non3ko 17th February 2010 04:28 AM

So they're upset about paid actors copying their sacred dance? :shrug

I agree with BanaCherry, I wouldn't have known about it had this commercial not come about.

UHPlus 17th February 2010 05:05 AM

Namie has more scandals in the past few months that the previous 10 years of her career. Crazy..

RyRyMini 17th February 2010 05:12 AM

They need to just suck it up and move on. It's not like it directly insults them.

LOLZ.

But is that a good thing or a bad thing as far as her celebrity status?

I mean, would all of this negatively affect her career? I really hope not.

Watch out for the correction... Kinda offensive if you're going to say the indigenous of Australia and New Zealand are both the same people.

but ye i know your intention but anyhow...

Polyrhythm 17th February 2010 08:06 AM

^Sorry if I offended you. I got careless and misread them as native Australians because the story was "reported by the Australian Associated Press" and I must have mixed up the two countries.

aznranie 17th February 2010 08:26 AM

that's alright at least you know now :) well i do admit although Australia and new zealand are both different countries other nations associate their culture and accent to be the same when really they are very different.

Choyan 17th February 2010 08:42 AM

lol~ Maori pplz XD ~

Yuh, they get a bit touche about those things, using things from their culture without permission and not expressing it in the 'right way'. XD~
*was studying copyrights etc etc last last year* ....AND I live in New Zealand ... lol~~
I totally get their point though and it's not pointing at Namie if anyone is worried~ It's a cultural thing here~

side note: NZders are always making an 'effort' to distinguish themselves between the Aussies (ie...flag change!!!) lol XD~~

I want to see this CM XD!!!

well i think it said that they listened to the commercial, like...the idea for the commercial, or they were told what is was gonna be, and they said it "sounds like crap" which is soo unprofessional and ridiculous that I really don't care about them being offended.

I wouldn't have cared anyway, since it's really retarded for them to be making such a big deal out of it. Seems to me like they just want to complain for attention...when uh, none of us really care.

No offense.

Kaiouforever 18th February 2010 03:24 AM

Since when is that dance copyrighted? o_O Besides, Namie just showed up for the CM, she didn't do the dance nor did she plan it

gothicayu 18th February 2010 03:33 AM

it's not 'dance copyright', it's cultural violation or whatever word that should be use instead~ XD

Don't worry guys, XD no one is blaming Namie, just the people to made the CM XD~~ her name is in it coz she's in the CM

Kaiouforever 18th February 2010 07:59 AM

It's a cultural violation? Um...well is it a cultural violation when Korean singers wear things that popular American singers wear? Or when people learn the language of other people in other countries? Or watch foreign TV shows and subtitle them in their own language? LOL

The whole thing is ridiculous, doesn't make any sense. No offense was intended with the CM and I think the dance came out looking awesome

I couldn't use any other words than you did!
That's exactly how it is.
The CM and the dance in it are great and there is no reason at all to be that ridiculous!^^

tokyoxjapanxfan 18th February 2010 08:38 AM

now that i understand the issue, i think they have a right to be angry.

if people just got up and started doing a native american dance used for intense battle, or something, they'd probably be angry too.

however, i think it's not that it's being done, but the fact that Japan wasn't respecting their requests of talking things out first before doing it.

and also, you're all aware of japan trying to crack down on sushi making around the world, right? they want it made the "correct, japanese way"--and they wan't to make (or have made?) a certification process for places making sushi.

similar in terms of protecting something which some people might find stupid.

You have a point here.
But bashing Namie like that is not right imo!

people won't care so much actually :rolleyes namie is the most notable person in the CM, of course they will bash her and not the people behind. This is the risk of being an artist

I mean people should respect other culture.
I also believe that they're acting ridiculous but that doesn't mean that they don't have the right to be angry. Yeah I know conflicting xD
