It sounds so awkward omg .. Gonna stick to the Korean one.

dreamland2.0 22nd January 2011 07:23 PM

hmmmm it does sound weird much more weird than the other two did :/

love in music 22nd January 2011 07:27 PM

It's so horrible :( I hate that whoever translates completely ruins the feel of the original song. They need to use whoever KARA uses to translate their songs into Japanese.

hearted 22nd January 2011 11:29 PM

=/

the only good remake song was Genie tbh..
japanese gee was just horrible and this doesnt sound that great either

...it's not that bad as I thought it will be and as fans think o.O :shrug waiting for full version.

TofuBunny 23rd January 2011 02:11 AM

^^ Agree, I liked Genie best

^ It just .. doesn't have the same feel y'know ? The lyrics sound choppy and for the first time I think their accent does show (I'm not an expert in Japanese but this is my opinion from listening to Jpop for so long )

Mirai Noah 23rd January 2011 03:26 AM

^ In comparison to Genie and Gee, yeah, it sounds choppier...

waterballoon 23rd January 2011 04:28 AM

ewww the Japanese RDR lol

love in music 23rd January 2011 07:37 AM

yeah Genie is definitely the best Japanese remake out of them all but it still isn't that great. if they were just Japanese artists and only released these versions of their songs, I wouldn't be into them AT ALL. thank goodness they have the korean versions.

y_nathz 23rd January 2011 08:56 AM

Japanese RDR is such a fail lol I feel awkward while listening :laugh

AyUmIXx 23rd January 2011 09:26 AM

yeaaaaaa Japanese RDR is soweird..
why don't they release Oh! Japanese ver instead..
it has more Japanese feel to it~

Nackar_91 23rd January 2011 11:52 AM

It really doesn't sound that bad, I think for most of you it's just a matter of being used to the Korean one. Like, having listened to it for a bazillion times.

It might just be my Japanese bias, but so far I prefer all of their Japanese versions. (But again, that's probably because I know some Japanese and can actually identify individual words, whereas Korean for me is one big mess. I should make a headstart in studying Korean once...)

AyUmIXx 23rd January 2011 12:05 PM

^ haha yea maybe you are right..
i used to be a Japanese music bias, i still am though...but kinda shifted to Korean since last two years~~ and i prefer RDR in Korean..
but for other songs, i like both in korean n Japanese~

maybe we should wait for the full version first :)

hearted 23rd January 2011 03:42 PM

^me too :P

i dont want Oh! in japanese D: Gee was already terrible because it was so high pitched, just imagine how Oh! will be ._____.

Twinkle ! 23rd January 2011 03:43 PM

They killed that great song :dead2

PLEASE JUST MAKE AN ORIGINAL SONG , NO MORE VICTIMS :weep

miroro 23rd January 2011 03:45 PM

i don't see why all of you don't like RDR in japanese o.o it doesn't sound bad to me
i prefer the korean version, but the japanese sounds ok :laugh

The same with me,
It's not that bad but the korean version is better

And yes, please a new original song :(
Though I seem to sense that it is SME's decision to market them with this strategy, it's like killing two birds with one stone. They don't have to make a new song, just re-record an old one

Yeah, I really have no problems with Genie and Gee in Japanese because they were released right when I was first getting to SNSD, so I hadn't listened to the Korean versions a million times yet (and yeah, I'm biased in that I can sing along with the Japanese versions... I really need to figure out how to properly read romanized Korean...) But RDR I'm actually used to the Korean, so it does sound strange in Japanese, but I'm sure the more I listen to it, the less strange it will seem.

not really. their songs are supposed to be catchy, but once they translate them into Japanese they aren't catchy anymore. they're just a bunch of Japanese words shoved into the song that don't fit at all. if they had them translated in a way where the songs are still catchy (IE KARA'S Jumping + Mister) I wouldn't have a problem with them.
