I finally got around to listening to Heaven and Hands on me, I love them. I'm looking forward to my copy which still seems so far away,

I have always respected where an artist wants to take their music, and as fans we either follow or don't, if we ourselves aren't liking what they are bringing out.

I been following Namie since Style and it was a joy going backwards thru her music ( Finding all the gems thru her older music, because there is alot, and I adore some of those songs to death lol ) But I still love her new music too as it comes out, ( Some songs more than others, yes I don't love every single thing to death ) But I haven't missed an album yet

I believe if Namie wasn't happy where she was, we would see her going on hiatus alot, dropping a best album from her previous company, and bringing out a new album with a different style

With all that said ^-^* Looking forward to my copy

Actually, Namie has recently sated in magazine interviews that she decided to sing in English with no intention of catering to international audiences. She simply does it because she finds songs that are given to her by foreign producers or that have a "Western" aesthetic are fitted better for it. Basically it just sounds "cool" to her.

Regardless, implementing English lyrics has introduced her to a wider audience. This is evident with her last album and the growing number of English language speaking fans on her facebook page. :yes

i think that's only logical, obviously she wouldn't pick up songs she didn't like *shrugs*

I thought everyone knew that Namie do wit she want, do wit she like?
As stated, she finds recording in English for those types of songs cool, and thus does it. BBC explains it all. Some people cry, but she no care.

I still prefer and want works with Nayom't, I'm not the fan of American producers, sorry, cuz they don't sound that much original

Is she saying the crowd, the cloud, or the club in the second verse of "Hands On Me"?

Namie was referring to choosing which language better synchronizes with a song (Japanese vs. English), not choosing the songs themselves. ;)

Namie's July 'S-Cawaii' & 'Sweet' Magazine Interview Highlights:

Namie viewed her 20th anniversary as a "clean break" in her career. She stated that she gained a sense of freedom, and her work feels fresh and exciting again. :yes

Namie felt in previous years she mainly focused on preserving a certain image of herself. Now she's more expressive and desires to portray concepts in her works. (Summer = happiness, cheerfulness, etc.)

She's really happy with the direction her music has taken and wants to continue to challenge herself and try out new concepts. She does not want to stay stagnant with her career
.

She also states this is the most summer themed and aggressive album she feels she's ever recorded. She hopes listeners will enjoy it. :D

She's working with a different team (new producers) to produce her music. She found this challenging since the team is very diverse (International).

She revealed there are more English based songs on the album due to the English (demos) synchronizing with the flow of certain songs better. She felt certain songs on the album when sung in her native tongue did not harmonize well with the original tracks.

Namie has become more laid back in song selection. She points out her lyrics have become more intelligible and less figurative and perplexing. She wants the listeners to focus on the music. Hence titling her album "FEEL".

^ That really nice, after 20 years she still wants to try new stuff and keep going with excitement for her carrer, that makes me happy :D

The language thing makes sense, I'm glad to know that she considers how the songs will sound better, though I wish she would sing less songs totally in English...

Thank you for that piece of interview, it's so nice to read she's so happy releasing music nowdays, that's the most important thing, whether we like the songs or not.
I'm fond of her previous "image", but I do want her to evolve, and most of all to be happy and satisfied. I'm sure she can put that intensity she had before in the new direction her music's taking, she just needs time and practising, Uncontrolled was a first attempt, I suppose. She too admitted it was rushed, and that FEEL should sound like a "polished" version of it, very summerish, strong and new for her.

that is awesome that she's very happy, I will buy the album to support her.

Surreal17 20th June 2013 07:47 PM

she seems happy and more excited for a release than before. good for her! i know that in the past she struggled with social anxiety but eventually WON this personal battle.she's a fighter!

Benikari47 20th June 2013 07:55 PM

I'm so glad that she's happy with what she's releasing right now, and that she's in a more relaxed state of her career.
You can really hear in her recent songs that she's just enjoying herself and having fun right now! <3
