I only care about the logos when its something I don't personally like, like the CDL13-14 logo with the pop-art style Ayu logo.
(this one, thanks Misa!)

In the end I care more about how they incorporate the logo into the goods. If the goods are saturated in triangles, maybe that will annoy me. But until then I'm not going to worry about it lol. :laugh

But honestly, I think the days of profound concepts and symbolism have been over for a while now.

May this could help you...
On instagram ayu already declared what "A^3" exactly stands for.
It's Power to Ayu, her Team and her Fans...

I'm not sure if Avex do have in-house designers for their artists, but they did hire design teams for ayu's CD/DVD covers and logos in the past. Recently I found out the website of one of the company made several design for ayu. Most of them are pretty good: http://www.grl.jp/cd.html

avex often hires different freelancer designers/studios to create stuff for the artists. I have a friend that she's a freelance designer for avex so she have made stuff for different artists (she even did a video for one of Ayu's CDL). But each artist have a different management and creative team so the process/involvement is completely different from one to the other.

What bothers me about her "design team" is the lack of good taste. Everything looks very poorly made. It's not even minimal/simple design is just lame af. When we compare her visual identity to Namie's or Kumi's it looks so damn amateur. Namie's creative team was such amazing for the last years and Kumi have been doing pretty good lately too. So it bothers me, as a graphic designer and fan, that Ayu's designs are so bad.

Couldn't agree anymore. In fact her visual identity was not that bad before 2016. Back in the days during NEXT LEVEL and Rock'n'Roll Circus Tour, there was a awesome logo, glamorous goods and most important a consistent tour visual. However starting from CDL 16-17 the live visual became extremely unorganised and the goods design did look amateur. In JTB tour they even used 5 different typefaces for the goods and tour logo, feels like they didn't design a standardised tour visual. For the goods design, the towel and the take out bag of POM2018 is beyond ugly. And we got those lazy designed goods in TROUBLE TOUR, which most of them are just replicas from DOME TOUR 2001.
Like what you said Namie and Kumi have been doing way better than ayu's design. Imo not only the visual design, for the attitude on working in music Kumi is still much more energetic than ayu. In the past two years Kumi released 4 full length albums and she had many new ideas in performing songs in her past two tours. On the other hand ayu toured a lot as well but she has just released a so-called album with only 5 songs, and recycled stuffs a lot in her tour. I really hope the past ayu which is keep moving forward and having new ideas every year could come back, just like the introduction they wrote for this POWER of A^3 live.

Koda Kumi isn't in the process of going completely deaf. Ayu will likely never get a chance to perform again once she loses her hearing, so perhaps she's focusing on spending as much time on the stage with her fans as possible instead of in a studio box. Sure, it would be nice to get a plethora of albums before it's all said and done (especially since I hated TROUBLE) but I respect her decision. As for the recycling, she's been doing that for years! I won't pretend to know why but I imagine it's working out for her since fans still flock to see her. At this point, it's like complaining water is wet.

I'm honestly surprised after all this time this community hasn't found something new to complain about. We tend to recycle complains like she recycles her shows! lol

With all the rapid changes going on in the world, I'm glad I can count on AHS to stay the same :)

Graphic design has a lot more thought put into it than that, though. I didn't think any of what he suggested was too far fetched. :shrug

Therefore I wish her to concentrate more on making new music but not just keep touring and singing old songs with old performances. I want her to make another remarkable history that could be immortal before the end of her career but not just a “super pop icon at the early Heisei era” that the new generation know none of her songs.

Okay besides complant, I have to admit that I was impressed by her new performances when I first attended TROBLE TOUR like W, Lady Dynamite, The way I am, Last angel and We are the QUEENS. However it is so disappointing that she ditched The way I am and Last angel but added WARNING and evolution these overperformed songs, and kept 1 LOVE (where the same performance of this song has been recycled 3 times) at the final. I hope this time POWER of A^3 will be a real new stage with many new performances. At least not another POM 2018.

Good, I was hoping for it. Can't help thinking about the curse of sounding especially bad on a filming date though.

TeamAyu2004 13th March 2019 04:31 PM

Do they do live broadcast like this often?

SunshineSlayer 13th March 2019 05:48 PM

^ Almost every countdown live ever.

pedronekoi 14th March 2019 06:22 AM

Is it the first time they will do a live broadcast of a non CDL live ever?

Katsuyuki012 14th March 2019 06:45 AM

^Not sure about other concerts but JTB1 had a live broadcast as well.
