Why do I always call Shiina Ringo Shingo?

I don't know if you have already but YES! You seriously need to. I've always preferred her solo material anyways, but that's because I got into her when Tokyo Jihen was still new. I highly recommend her 2nd and 3rd albums, but the other 2 studio albums are really great as well. Heisei Fuzoku is fantastic as well, but I wouldn't recommend it until you've listened to her other albums first.

Ooh, why is this place so dead? There's no news about her? :(

Nobody posted about Shijo no Jinsei...

summerain 29th July 2018 07:15 AM

Reviving this thread because Shiina Ringo is my greatest discovery this year.

Don't get me wrong, I knew and liked some of her stuff before (I really enjoyed Hi Izuru Tokoro, specially Arikitari na Onna), but nowadays I can say she's one of my favorite Japanese artists. Really love Heisei Fuuzoku.

About her recent releases, I liked Otona no Okite and Jinsei wa Yume Darake a lot, but I want an original album now! And I hope she put Shijou no Jinsei inside it, it's a marvelous song.

EDIT: actually, counting Mijikai Matsuri and Kami-sama, Hotoke-sama, she has three songs (I don't know if Jiyu-dom will enter in her future album) to this release.

^yes plz. I hope soon, cause she is already on the edge of having to much aterial to have much new content.

Her recent tour is up at JPOPSUKI. I've downloaded it, but didn't watch yet.

Sorry about the double-posting, but I wanted to revive this topic.

Did you hear her recent song, "Kouzen no Himitsu"?

thinkingoutloud89 30th October 2019 01:20 AM

^yeah, classic shiina. love it.

Diva_br 30th October 2019 01:44 AM

I love all her "noir" songs, this is not different :heart

koumori 30th October 2019 02:48 PM

The new song is great, I really love the visuals as well. :heart

She released earlier this year her album "Sandokushi". I read some people complaining about the disc "lacking" something, but I really enjoyed all the songs, with no exception. I listen to it until now very often.

The mixing of the album (like "Hi Izuru Tokoro") emphasizes the treble a little too much and, sometimes, could result a very noisy sound, but I think it fits very well with the purpose of the songs presented on the record. They are arranged in a very sophisticated way, using jazz, rock and electronica, all of them being classic elements from her discography, but in a contemporary way, which I like very much.

What do you people think of it?

thinkingoutloud89 31st October 2019 03:47 AM

I enjoy it to. Still think HIT is way stronger, but also way more mainstream.
