Dammit! I'm tired of seeing ALL SINGLES BEST on the charts! Why are people still buying the album? I mean. it's like people are just hearing about the album. I have nothing against Kobukuro but I want that BEST album to stop charting. I haven't been this annoyed with BEST albums since Koda Kumi's BEST ~second session~ was released...and that album is still charting! Ugh, is this the best way to get to popular...by releasing best albums?! :rolleyes

Finally, GUILTY sales exceeds 500k!!
Congrats to ayu!!

PS: i'm still waiting my copy from YA, it's been 15days now!!

No one is gonna buy 20,000 copies if their intention isn't manipulate the charts, that's quite obvious. So yeah, if you buy 20.000 copies, it's against the law, even if you 'genuinely' buys it.

Boybands didn't sell bad (and in fact their sales have been quite consistent), but the girls just outold them back then. I wouldn't say the females dominated the chart (like took all yearly top 10 spaces), but usually those top 3 positions were occupied by artists like hikki, ayu, or mai, misia, ringo, momosu, etc (esp hikki and ayu).

So I hope that some female artists (or even a more serious male / male duo) will pound those boybands soon... (well it'll be excellent if those females will be hikki and ayu again LOL)

Koda Kumi outsell boybands. Ayumi Hamasaki most of the time still outsell boybands in album sales. Hikki too. Except for EXILE, album sales for boybands aren't particularly impressive, unlike their singles sales.

Well, AVEX can always say that they brought 20,000 copies of Guilty for charity.....like a music charity overseas. They just make up a name or whatever. Besides, AVEX doesn't have to buy it. They can just get one of their "simple" minded workers to buy 20,000 copies [AVEX gives them the money] for charity.

You know.....I'm :laugh right now!

im waiting to see how hikki and koda do with their releases this year...also there will be a few other power selling female artists releasing albums this year to contend with...

YUI, ayaka(prob), Namie(iffy...depends on the quality of her singles this year)

so this will definitely be an interesting year for female artists...

i wonder if ayaka will sell another million???

Luv ~Venus~ 16th January 2008 03:22 AM

^I doubt Ayaka will sell another million. I doubt Koda Kumiko will sale another million. I don't know about Hikki. It's like her fans debate on whether or not to buy her albums should sell or million or something. I hope she does though. I believe YUI could sell a million..if her promotional team can promote it right and YUI has some really decent songs o her album which I know she does. I believe Namie can achieve the 600k mark. Her popularity is back and people seem to can't get enough of her.

futureLOVE 16th January 2008 03:23 AM

yeah...ayaka hasn't had such success with the singles since First Message...so i dunno, like i said, it'll be interesting.

andrepaul 16th January 2008 03:33 AM

million for ayaka looks difficult but over 650k is clearly possible. Winding Road was a big success.
Hikki can take the million easily like Exile.

lovemimi40 16th January 2008 04:04 AM

This year, Ayaka didn't have big success singles like she did with First message (Mikazuki and I believe), but it'll definately be interesting to see how much she sells. I, for one, think her singles this year are really great, but that will probably mean low sales lol

futureLOVE 16th January 2008 04:05 AM

i doubt hikki has anything to worry about...it definitely helps that her release schedule is spread out more than others because it raises anticipation tremendously.

Its only January and its already 5th place...utada and koda still needs to release their album, and exile will have their best albums as well...and plus whoever will be releasing later on in the year...but anyways, reaching top 10 or not, I'm just glad it reached over 500k. A lot of ppl expected it to sell much lower in total sales.

I think avex made a smart move by releasing together when... it definitely helped GUILTY's sales. It's one of my fav ayu ballads and it seems like the song was well received.

yep i agree with you.

anyway i want GUILTY to be in top 10....and fare better than m(u) in terms of position chart(8th) ( although chances are low as it's already ranked at 5th in just the first month ) :(

bondingo 16th January 2008 05:43 AM

Interesting to think about how the big female artists' sales will compare this year. GUILTY's sales are pretty good, but not exceptional. ayaka definitely won't make the million again unless there's a huge single before then. Hikki can easily reach the million mark, as her albums sell like crazy no matter what. She's smart and her releases are so far apart that people crave her and buy the albums like hotcakes. Namie has no chance of reaching a million, but hopefully she surpasses the 500k mark as PLAY did.

futureLOVE 16th January 2008 05:46 AM

i think, like with GUILTY, Koda is being underestimated with the release of Kingdom...from what i've heard, it seems to have a lot of appeal to different genres...2008 is looking like a very competitive year...more so than 06 and 07.

I think it's possible that ayu will release a new single and the Asia Tour DVD on the same day...anyone else think this?

I sure hope hikki can reach million with the new album since ULTRA BLUE didn't and it had a better selling single song on it (COLORS), but it just might hopefully! where there is hikki labelled, people will sure buy it!

About Namie I hope her sales can be maintained (like ayu's) and not really drop like Style again...

I just wanna know which female artist album with be the #1 female album of the year! :lech I'm really interested in this year. I mean, this has already the best year in years. hehehehe
