^ Well it wasn't just Namie, though she was a big part of it. Groups like TRF and GLOBE were absolutely huge for Avex as well and all of them were produced by Tetsuya Komuro. Avex had already been 'built' by the time that Ayumi and Max got there. :) But you could say that a second wave began after Ayu hit it big.

RikkuChii 23rd September 2009 02:53 AM

Yeah..you could say Tetsuya was the "Max" of the 90's.

No. Tetsuya was even more important. I think nobody in the Japanese music industry came CLOSE to TK. EVERYTHING he touched in the mid-90s become gigantic phenomenons: TRF, globe, Namie Amuro, Tomomi Kahala, Ami Suzuki, hitomi (in the beginning of her carreer). And he was not only a producer and a manager, but a huge celebrity himself. I remember seeing a list of the biggest tax payers in the entertainment business in Japan during a span of 20 years and he was, by far, the number 1 (and he was actually accused of tax evasion!).

Max Matsura is very successful but he is not a extremely influential and powerful brand. He is the president of a huge corporation which is not exactly what TK was in the 90s.

I would put him way above Max actually. If you look at the number of songs produced and often times written by Tetsuya it is amazing. There was hardly a week in the 90s where he didn't have a song somewhere in the top 10. He was ultimately responsible for the success of several different artists. Max on the other hand I would say his only real claim to fame has been Ayumi. You could even maybe say that Max just got really lucky with her since he hasn't really had a major success since. Plus Max is more of a manager type and Komuro was a song writer/producer.

edit: now I see that andre basically said the same. :)

i hope he reunites with Namie someday, just for 1 song or 1 performance. kind of like what he did with globe this summer.
because i really love Namie's older works. but i doubt it will happen lol

i think it's because even casual Namie listeners who normally don't buy her stuff even bought the BFT DVD. it's really the tour of the century :P

besides that. It's a single! So, she would release an album soon. They will put the singles on that album.
DVD's are somewhat memoriable and you can do more things with that: watching / listening...

Anyway, I think it's sadly that they photoshopped Namie so much. She is a really beautiful natural woman and lots of photoshopping makes her fake.
That's why I don't like the last covers. Well, the BEST FICTION for certain.

it's part of the "theme" or whatever, so there's an excuse. but i still don't like them (well at least the BF tour ones, the BF album ones were pretty)

His band globe should be getting back together since his legal issues are figured out (all their music is back up on iTunes) Wondered if their cancelled releases will be released. There popularity kind of died (they were *reallY* popular) but they still have their fanbase. I love globe, whether its pop/rock, or trance.

Minttulatte 24th September 2009 11:44 AM

I still haven't watched this concert. I gotta download the torrent version as soon as possible and watch it. If it's good as I believe it is, I may actually buy it for a change. :D

~StarCatcher~ 24th September 2009 11:53 AM

I ordered it as a blu-ray.

BUT its at customs until next week=(

Minttulatte 24th September 2009 12:10 PM

Namie sells so well with that DVD. ^__^

AyuHamasaki01 24th September 2009 02:49 PM

I really like the covers of the album and the tour DVD :yes I think it fits the theme really well.

"...it's not real. It's the best fiction" :lech

UHPlus 24th September 2009 05:51 PM
