Oh, dear... so baaad. :no
I think the reason why some of the girls' voices sounded off or strained is because either (a) they were projecting their voice more to make up for lack of mic or (b) they couldn't hear the back track properly, or both. Although, for some of the girls, you have to wonder... I love Sunny so so sooo much (second favorite girl after Hyo) but her voice was off. I think you were hearing Seohyun's backtrack, kimmeh, because whereas with Taeyeon, you could hear her singing over the backtrack (and it sounded really good!), I couldn't hear any overlapping voice(s) with Seohyun.

They never soundcheck for these things, they literally arrive and leave the same day back to Korea.

koumori 26th March 2013 12:41 AM

I actually didn't think it was that bad at all..are my ears working properly? Haha. Sure there were some issues, but since they were singing live and dancing pretty hard at the same time, I think they all did great. I'm surprised they didn't just sit down and rest straightaway :tipsy

I think the backtrack is an issue too, since both Tiffany and Hyo were late at their lines, and they usually aren't. I couldn't hear Taeyeons backtrack at all, I just thought that maybe Taeyeon has such a strong voice that she doesn't need a backtrack at all. She was pretty impressive here. I can't hear Seos backtrack in Dancing queen, but it sounds like theres a slight "double-voice" in her first part in I got a boy.

I feel bad for the HK fans. Pay a lot of money for ****** sound and bad lights, when it could have been sooo much better.

Most of the girls can sing quite well, but under pressure(dancing, singing live) will put a strain on their voice, thus lowering the quality. My main issue with this performance is how the backtrack is too loud/not in sync with their own voices, so you hear a "double sound", in addition to bad (or no) soundcheck, like how you can't hear Tae at the start of Dancing queen. I'm guessing they're pretty tired from the japan tour too. The girls need some much needed rest

emi♡ 26th March 2013 02:05 AM

It's super hard to sing and properly hold your air when dancing like that, but even so, some of them might get better at singing with the back track. Jessica is, Seo is.

They might not have their own sound person...but it would be nice if they did. I mean, they need someone who knows their voices and how they perform, and can properly set up and adjust their mics and sound during their shows.

Turn up Jessica's mic here and there cause her voice is so soft...Maybe turn down Tiffany, Hyo, and Sunny's when they aren't singing well...to keep the balance.

The acoustics for that show were ****.

That performance of "Dancing Queen" was so bad that I am not ashamed to say that I broke me streak of never having bothered to watch that song performed live just to watch it. That is how bad it is. That was my first and will be my last. That was also my 2nd time listening to the song. My first being when the Music Video was revealed. Never even bothered listening to it on the Album. It's just awful.

How Seohyun sounded at 5:55 when she was announcing "I Got A Boy" was so different.

And that guy shouting Jessica's and Sooyoung's name in between songs sounded like a murderer.

Sunny in that video (especially at 9:33) made it worth watching for me. She's so cute and friendly always interacting with the audience. :heart

but yeah the vocals were very off lol

kendelle 26th March 2013 12:01 PM

It sounds to me like the playback is like exactly 1/2 second behind what's playing in their ears - they're consistently off in that performance, except SeoHyun's long note, but she's shouting that lol

They all seemed to struggle with that, especially having TaengSic's mics be so quiet, Tiffany's so loud and having them struggle to keep up with their own playback!! The dance was behind too, but it's probably hard to keep up with what's in their ears and what's being blasted to the audience? I really struggled to watch it though TBH and am not in a hurry to do so again ;_;

IGAB turned out a little better so I suppose the audio people were desperately trying to fix it while they stalled the audience with the greeting o_O

That Mega Mix album sucks - I was hoping for some more creativity a'la Ayu's Mega Mixes.......especially with the "hear what their hits sound like when remixed by this dude!" tagline =| THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME FML

The bad thing was the echo, the background voice, they just didn't synch it with the recorded voice and that's why it sounded not good, but I agree, it wasn't bad and would be just very different (from the cd recording) if the background voice wasn't there.

It's an actual music video, the use of the word "live" is about a preview and announcement of the music video at tonight's live concert ;) They showed a 15 second preview of it during the MC/encore.
