I think there is no reason to think she won't release any summer single this year.

I believe she will create something awesome again!

SKYia 5th May 2014 07:42 PM

There's still some time but she'd have to announce it fast, her summer songs always define my summer, each year I go to my family in Germany and as far as my memory serves me I always remember listening to Kuu over and over during those trips, if she doesn't release I'll stick to her past singles.

marty 5th May 2014 09:39 PM

I'm kind of happy she probably won't reales a summer single this year.
I feel like Bon Voyage was released just yesterday (still fresh and fun from beginning to end) and I think it's definetely a Summer album too, so I want to enjoy it fully this Summer!

NintendoHTF1242 6th May 2014 01:25 AM

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES "On Your Side"? Damn flawless song.

Gustavopc 6th May 2014 01:28 AM

I dont get why she wouldnt release a summer single this year, it's not like she's pregnant or on hiatus, so surely avex will have her to release something, plus it is clear when she's on stage that she ENJOYS her summer songs as well as the audience, she has fun on producing it and then performing it. I mean, look at how many PLC and LAX5 perfomances we've got, and how playful she is in all of them! Even if it happens that we don't get a summer single, we should get at least one song. If pregnancy didn't stop her from doing WWO on 2012, there's no reason for nothing new to come this summer (:

orangeakira 6th May 2014 03:43 AM

I hate summer singles. As soon as something is "expected" it's because it's been done so many times before it becomes predictable. However, Koda Kumi's summer singles always have amazing songs on them so I wouldn't mind a summer single from her this year.

emi♡ 6th May 2014 08:23 AM

I'm actually always surprised by her summer singles. She always does something grand or interesting.

Her winter singles definitely can be interchangeable tho lol

Minttulatte 6th May 2014 10:27 AM

One of Kuu's strong points are those kick ass summer singles. There's always 3-4 different songs that you can find your personal favorite and then listen that on repeat until you need a little bit a break (2 days) and then listen more. For me those singles (and usual winter singles) has become very important. They define my summer. I don't feel very summery if there's no summer single from my queen. And besides, hasn't she herself said that summer is her favorite season? I don't think she could drop the single just like that. We just gotta wait and see what happens.

And today I'll be listening Kuu for the whole day. Got into a huge obsession, and I love it. It's been months since I last time got into this♥

Corvina 6th May 2014 10:42 AM

But Kuu hasn't winter singles. She often has a single in autumn. It's mostly pretty different though - fast song, ballad, midtempo - we already got everything. Though we always get a single in the last part of the year.
I'm really wondering, how she will do now with that anniversary project in the back.
It's still time for a summer single.

pimenta 6th May 2014 10:43 AM

If she releases a summer single, great, but if she doesn't I don't really mind, her last summer single that I trully loved was 3 SPLASH...

Well, it's almost winter in Finland whenever she releases a single in the autumn so I always call them winter singles. :)

I completely forgot the whole 15th Anniversary project. I wonder what it is. One single per month? New cover album? Special tour? A best of? We never know. All I know that it's probably just as epic as her 10th Anniversary! This woman knows how to celebrate her anniversaries right♥

Hey guys, sorry to interrupt the summer single conversation -

does anyone here know a blog / site / person that IDs Kuus outfits? I am especially interested in the clothes worn in her PVs.

Thanks for any tips you might be able to give. :)

Your're not alone, it's one of my favorite songs on Bon Voyage.

hsienko 6th May 2014 08:50 PM

Despite what I said previously, I like XXX now I wish it was on the album.

I hope we a get a new summer single too - I'm still have TOUCH DOWN and VIP on repeat.

OF COURSE NOT.
That song was my ringtone for a month.

setsuka 6th May 2014 11:52 PM

I just hope it has something to make it unique.....to me she is stuck artistically....Bon Voyage was cute but that whole era was phoned in

I wish she either brings whoever mixed that flawless Pink Spider electro-ness to her summer single team or does another Touch Down but this time acknowledges its existence

I just want her to stick to one genre and go hard, since she is usually falling into this blah in the middle pop with no kick territory for me

my dream single would be :

1. hot RnB track with a female featuring like DOUBLE or AI...or maybe even reggae like lecca or Minmi
2. hot electro song like BUT but updated for 2014
3. In the Air's spiritual successor
4. RnB slow jam like for you

I WANT A 4 A-sides, since her best singles were 4 hot wave and 4 times

please no pop-rock......i have had enough of that crap

KuuXAyu-fan 7th May 2014 01:14 AM

I blame Kenji for the light pop-rock summer tracks. They were never the main promo tracks for the summer singles until she met him and then we ended up getting Poppin Love Cocktail and LALALALALA back to back. :headache I don't mind those songs but if she does another summer single this year I want the main track to be anything BUT a pop-rock one. It's enough.

Gustavopc 7th May 2014 01:37 AM

While I kinda agree, at least I find the rockish songs more enjoyable than the electro-cute stuff like girls and Lick me, I'm happy she got rid of them, the only track like that I liked was Lady Go! d:

And yeeaah, Kuu needs to collab with a female singer again! I dreamed of a Maki collab back in the SWEET BLACK days, it'd have blown me away :heart

Zeke. 7th May 2014 04:02 AM

No way! Lick Me, girls, with your smile, good day - THOSE are the summer jams. They just ooooooze summer. Perfect to play in hot weather.

I also loved whatchu waitin on and still do. Best summer song ever.

Lady go kicked ass too. That song was epic.

I need those types from her. They have the atmosphere of summer, much more so than her weak attempts at ghetto grooves.

I agree so much with all of this! As much I do kinda have mixed feelings towards ultra cutesy songs but with the right context I sure enjoy it. And yes on Whatchu Waitin' On as the best summer song lol

Her ghetto grooves attempt are hit and miss for me :|

Gustavopc 7th May 2014 04:21 AM

^ I get the summer feeling, but the songs sounded kinda lame to me, not to mention a bit repetitive. I seriously have problems telling With you smile and girls apart when the songs play at random on my iTunes. otoh, WWO is HOT as hell, it is cute in the right amount and the instrumental is epicly well produced.

On another topic, I went through some of her past albums today, and now I need her to perform anytime, I'll be there and IN THE AIR all in the same concert. I'd die of pure happiness, I love how uplifting these songs are.
