I don't really care if she's going to release a phyiscal single or not. I just want to listen to her new music. We have been waiting too long for just a new song. Even 10 seconds of sample is welcomed...

I guess I've activated my panic mode now. It's getting near April and I can't wait longer...

yayyyy my kuma USB should be shipping soon! :D

PSYCHEDELICOdust 4th March 2016 05:11 PM

It'd be nice if we got something soon. I miss her.

I had a dream that Hikki released some I've Sound-esque dance track and woke up find it was not reality.

I really really look forward to hearing anything from her. I also wonder what kind of directions she would like to go in for an album at this point in her career

bluegie 7th March 2016 12:18 PM

I don't think she'll go for synth instruments this time... She went to that direction for the last two albums. I hope she's heading somewhere else and give us a pleasant surprise :D.

Me too! I wish her new album will have elements of Arashi no Megami, Show me love not a dream or Sakura Nagashi with dark, rockish theme.

I honestly don't care what type of a song she releases. I just miss her so much that I don't care if she goes and releases a rap song for example. I would cry in happiness because I've been missing her so much. ;_;

RAP STATION?
ULTRA RAP?
DEEP RAP?
FIRST RAP?

Yes! I honestly can't wait for her new releases either. Whatever it is, it's going to have a special maturity to it that we won't hear anywhere else. What made Sakura Nagashi so breathless is it's maturity. It was a huge throwback to songs like FINAL DISTANCE though... Ugh... I'll just be thrilled to hear an intellectual pop star again. I love Ayu, but she's kind of a dumb blond compared to Utada, especially in terms of songwriting.

Wow, this comment is so wrong, I just can't. The "dumb blond" comment is really unnecessary. And as always, some fans overrate Utada when Japanese music scene has amazing songwriters like Yuki Kajiura, Kokia, Chara, Sheena Ringo etc. I like songs from Utada but she's nowhere people are trying to put her. Can't we just appreciate songs and artists without trying to compare and put down others? And yeah, I know forums are meant for discussion but I had to say something about this.

You can fuck right off with this comment. Utada is the one with a song whose lyrics literally read, "You're easy breezy and I'm Japanesey". Come on now.

I was going to say, wasn't Ayu renowned for her lyrics and utada not so much?

ahtka-chan 9th March 2016 04:35 PM

Anytime I listen that "Ayu was renowned for her lyrics" I think about STEP you lyrics and oh well...

Still, why people continue making comparisons in 2016?

thinkingoutloud89 9th March 2016 04:53 PM

^lyrics up until RAINBOW

Well, now she's back! The new song is titled "Hanataba wo Kimi ni"

Zeke. 9th March 2016 04:55 PM

Well, on average, I think it was always believed that Ayu had more of a natural talent for writing as opposed to Utada. I think Utada has to put more effort into it. I actually remember reading in a few places that one of Utada's weaker points was her lyrics, which were said to be very general and less metaphorical.

And really, there is nothing wrong with comparing their lyrics. There are brands over 100 years old that people still draw comparisons between, so I see nothing wrong with discussing artists who compete within similar categories in a similar manner. I hate it when people get so butthurt over comparisons.

Well, you can screw off in your own right too. Since 2006, any Utada track has been significantly better written than almost anything Ayumi has put on a record since Secret. You can't discount Utada's Japanese works for what she did on a very experimental English record. Ayu's talent as a songwriter has gotten worse, whereas Utada has significantly improved.

And to hammer this point home: How many of Utada's songs since ULTRA BLUE have been about love or relationships or breakups? ...Now, how many of Ayumi's songs since Secret have been about love, relationships, breakups, missing someone? My point is that Utada is not only a better songwriter today, but she's also a more diverse songwriter.

kotora 10th March 2016 01:13 AM

Yeah! She is back!
Can't wait!
