[Edit] Normally new releases count 6 days on oricon (Tue - Sun). MW practically released on Monday, so it counts 7 days.

I'm quite shocked by how Shuchishin can maintain over 10K index on the supposed to be lowest selling day (Friday). This is getting bad now. I assume they will get around the same indexes for the next 2 days (14000?). Up till now they have been sold around 82K, while MW is around 100K. If Shuchishin can maintain 14000 for the next two days... Their final total index will be 75227. I assume MW will get around 5K - 6K each for the next two days... So MW's final index will be 66188 - 68188. Looks like our nightmare has arrived... :no

Well, practically no one knows Shuchishin would be that powerful till yesterday (when they could maintain over 10K on the third day).

Now, unless their index drops below 10000 tomorrow, and less than 9K on Sunday, I think they will take over ayu. This is a really bad year for ayu I guess.. or I guess her sales are not huge enough to maintain her no. 1 streak... Even tho if she can get no. 1 this week in the end, no one knows if she will be able to pull another no. 1 for the next one.. Honestly, nowadays 100K is not a really big selling number..

And to be honest... actually I feel bad for ayu now. MW is released a day earlier, but if it ends up being no. 2, probly the entertainment industry will joke around it can't get no. 1 even it got an extra day of sale.

I watched a Shuchishin performances and I can't believe that it's winning over Mirrorcle World, a 10th anniversary single.
Usually, I really don't care for sales or chart positions, but this is really sad :/

OK... to tell you how I feel about this battle... You guys gotta prepare to expect that ayu may get no. 2 in the end.

Normally sales pattern should be like this:
1st day: the highest
2nd day: a bit drop
3rd day: 30% dropping at least
4th day: the lowest index of the week (usually)
5th day (Sat): will get a bit higher compared to the 4th day... and probly higher than the 3rd day if the word of mouth is good. E.g., a good performance on musicstation
6th day (Sun): similar to Sat.

Shuchishin's sales pattern is totally out of ordinary. First, the indexes practically doesn't drop at all. Secondly, it could even sell like crazy on the 4th day, when this day is supposed to be the lowest selling day.

So.. seems like a really huge word of mouth effect is going on for Shuchishin... So I assume they will be getting a combined 20K at least for the next 2 days... On the other hand, the maximum MW can get will probly be 12K (Sat and Sun combined).

I hope I predict this wrong (about Shuchishin getting high indexes for the next two days...), but sigh... I dunno anymore..

Maybe all those anti fans are buying Shuchishin CD's D:!!

Looks like Ayu will be number two, but that's alright. A bit dissapointing but you have to expect it would happen sometime. If only the Depend on You first press version hadn't sold out! I would have gotten it. Gah.

Tomorrow, Shuchishin will probly get another 10K index at least... with 1.75 factor, they will have another 17500 copies... MW may only get 5K (max 7K I think.. but quite unlikely)... so that means it will get around 8750 copies...

So the new difference will be: 18000 (the total difference at this moment) - 17500 (what we expect the boyband will sell tomorrow) + 8750 (what we expect MW will sell) = 9250.

If Shuchisin can get 10K tomorrow, that means surely they will get 10K on Sunday as well... So you do the math for the rest...

10K index for Shuchisin is already a happy guess... probly they will have 15K tomorrow...

@Huaka: Yeah I guess someday the streak thing will be broken. But I didn't expect it will be broken on her anniversary single.. Gosh 2008 is a bad year for ayu... First her album no. 1 streak was broken, and her single no. 1 streak will be broken soon in about 2 days... (Unless there's miracle..)

Well, let's say in this way. Normally established artists that can cuz threat to ayu WILL NOT try to hurt ayu no. 1 streaks, because the companies should have silent deals on it. Otherwise, B'z and ayu would have already faced each other once... Same to Mr. Children, KinKi Kids, etc..

So this means to break those artists' streak, it must be from a new artist that the company does not aware of.

And this week is a good example to show how this will happen..
(Sigh... to be honest... it's just a matter of time that ayu's streak will be broken. Look at other no. 1 streak artists... Their average first week sales are all above 150K at least. It's harder for a newcomer to sell like that on the first week.. But like I said before, 100K is not a big sales nowadays. Judging from ayu's recent sales, her max first week sales at this moment shall be around 110K, and this is not always happened. If she releases another t2m type song and the Japanese don't really like it, her no. 1 streak will be gone w/ that 60K sales.. Lots of normal artists can sell over that...

Well.. to think of a better way.. Probly it's time for ayu/avex (and us) to let go of this "no. 1 streaks". It just kills off lots of brain cells whenever she's in this kind of situation. Once the streak is gone, we won't be as worried as before (like she must get no. 1 everytime)... and finally we can concentrate on her music rather than praying to let her get no. 1 again.

It's quite sad to think about that.. And I guess this broken no.1 streak will make me depressed a few more days compared to the time when GUILTY got no. 2..
