Don't do that!! D:
Don't worry...you'll figure it out..eventually.. |

it just sound so familiar isnt it? and also, i think say the word is a cover too, right? any idea from which singer? |
Okay. So Wikipedia totally made me confused.
Say the Word IS a cover, but Namie wrote lyrics to it. :P She also wrote the lyrics to I Will. :) |

I wouldn't mind if she covers a song like she did with Come and 60s70s80s. The new arangements & lyrics were so different and better. |
^ Yeah, but I'd really like for FAST CAR to be a cover of Tracey Chapman. Haha. PLAY didn't have any covers at all though~. ^^
It's probably just wishful thinking. ^^ |

i realized it when i heard think of me for the first time a few days ago ^^ |
^ It is as well! Thanks! :)
|
This is the list of Namie's songs that I know for sure that they're covers, if anyone knows more, let us know :)
60s70s80s Go! Go!: Yume no Hayasade GIRL TALK Come Indy Lady As Good As Wishing on the same star 人魚 Try Me ~Watashi wo Shinjite~ Stop The Music |
who sang the orignal "Come"?

60s70s80s ARE NOT COVERS! Get the definition of 'Cover' songs first before you put them in your "I'm sure" list... GIRL TALK is also NOT a cover. It was composed by T.KURA and lyrics by Michico. |

I also consider 60s70s80s covers as they sample already existing songs. But you're right, GIRL TALK isn't a cover. |
^ sampling is NOT covering, or are you saying Ayus Free & Easy is a cover because the first twenty seconds or whatever are sampled? When sampling, the majority of the song still is new -> NO cover
|
@UHplus & noidea oh my, calm down. cover = sample, they maybe changed the arrangements and lyrics, but the point is that they are not the original songs. That's said on wikipedia too. :)
GIRL TALK, isn't sampled (covered) by "Girls just wanna have fun"? tralalala XD Even if it's only sampled, that will always be a cover for me. EDIT: A friend of mine, who never heard of Namie Amuro, when he first heard GIRL TALK, he immediatelly said "Girls just wanna have fun, huh"? Even I thought of Cyndi Lauper ... |
Ah but from my ears, the melodies aren't THAT different. So I'd personally say it's a cover. :\
|
maybe for you, but wikipedia and you are wrong, sampling and changing the arrangement and lyrics is different BTW, if they build something completely new around a SHORT sampled piece, like in WHAT A FEELING for example, that's not covering, if most of it is original, it IS an original song, that builds up around a sample
The right definition of cover is a song that is less original than sampled and/or rerecorded, so if one line and a little instrumental part for example is sampled, the song is not a cover |
^ of course, maybe for me :) but when I'm listening a song, and I already know it's from someone else (I heard it and I recognize it) I see that as a cover. Because Namie's producents used the sample, they got an idea from someone else, and just made it better. The same goes for Ayu x Sweetbox.
That doesn't mean that is bothering me or I don't like new versions. |

^ Well, there's no point in being antagonistic towards each other.
It's obvious that me and Maemi have opposing views to you and noidea, so it's better if we leave the argument without it escalating, right? Haha, I mean at the end of the day, what does it matter if we accept them as covers and you don't? |
