so it's true with regards to both covers of Lotus in that it doesn't look like anything similiar to what they wore in the PV

I'm still wondering what're those sparks at the back ? Lotus flowers in bloom ? xD

ARASHI seldom have covers that miss the mark . The others that I can think of which I really dislike include We can make it ! , Dream"A"live (erugh) & the 2CDs LE of Time :p

Then again the songs & PV matter to me the most , no point having the best cover artwork around but if the material of the artiste stinks big time :no

Mhm, I was just expecting a bit more, because all their last covers were so great. "Monster", "Love Rainbow", "Dear snow", "Hatenai sora"; these covers are all so very beautiful (even when I sometimes don't like the songs! :D).
So "Lotus" is really a big let-down.

But yes, covers are not so important.
I mean, it's great if they look nice and everything, but when the songs/PVs suck then even a great cover can't make up for it!

I don't know but it goes to show that not every artiste can have fantastic cover artwork all the time & with Lotus , it's evident

In fact for all the artistes I listen/support , I haven't come across anyone that I really like all of their cover artwork for their stuff from their debut all the way to now

Usually , the cover artwork for the CD only of anything tends to be much better than the CD + DVD & guess it also applies to Lotus too :p

Three official Guinness World Records awarded to Arashi commercials

Mobile company KDDI released a press release today saying their 60 Arashi commercials for Android au’s smartphone had officially broken three world records, reports PR Times.

On January 27, a multitude of commercials starring Arashi members were broadcast on TV, which have now been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.

The records are:

1.“Most versions of a TV commercial for the same product broadcast within 24 hours – Free-to-air (Terrestrial TV)” – 60 Android au commercials were broadcast on January 27

2.“Most versions of a TV commercial for the same product broadcast within 8 hours – non Free-to-air” – 60 Android au commercials were broadcast from 00:00 to 08:00, January 27 on Space Shower TV

3.“Most versions of a TV commercial for one product broadcast in a single 30 minute programme” – 12 Android au commercials were broadcast during “Music Lovers”, 23:30 – 24:00, January 30.

NTV’s music show, Music Lovers, had an episode titled, “Arashi Premium“, for January 30th, and of course, it starred none other than the Johnny’s Entertainment group, Arashi.

Check out the videos below along with explanations of the content and translations!

- Arashi Meikyoku Live Collection : It shows many of Arashi’s live performances from the previous episodes on Music Lovers.

- Arashi’s First “Male Limited Live” : This was also from the previous episode in which Arashi held their first “Male Limited Live” on Music Lovers. As the guest lover, Yashima Tomohito also made appearance. Furthermore, there was also a never-released talk part during the show in which they asked the audience (who were male fans), “Which member do you want as your boss?” The winner of the poll question was Ohno Satoshi.

- Arashi members were then asked what kind of live they wanted to hold on Music Lovers.

• Sakurai Sho said he wanted a “Kids Limited Live”.
• Ohno Satoshi said he wanted a “Foreigners Limited Live”.
• Aiba Masaki said he wanted to “surprise a random person at their house and sing there”.

- For the never-released talk segment, there were quite a few highlights.

Ninomiya actually apologized for saying stuff as if he was the leader of Arashi, as other members jokingly told him that it’s as if he was like the real leader of the group, which led to Ohno Satoshi’s answer…

the members of Arashi tried to explain Nintendo’s new handheld, the “Nintendo 3DS“, to all the viewers sitting at home.

Yesterday, they have released a new batch of commercials starring all five of the members, but it doesn’t seem to get any easier for them to answer the questions. This time they had to explain the 3D effect further, especially what it is like to experience 3D without the need of some special glasses. Aiba Masaki eventually came up with “4D” and “5D”, making the commercial fun as usual.

Arashi’s latest live DVD sold 618,000 copies in the first week!

Popular group Arashi released their 8th live DVD, “ARASHI 10-11 TOUR ‘Scene’ ~Kimi to Boku no Miteiru Fukei~ STADIUM“, on January 26th, and it topped Oricon’s latest weekly DVD ranking. The result might not be especially surprising, but the sales for the first week totaled an amazing 618,000 copies!

This live DVD recorded the live concert from their nation tour at National Olympic Stadium on September 3rd, and it consists of performances for over 40 song, mainly from their latest album, “Boku no Miteiru Fukei” (released in August 2010).

Although Arashi’s previous live DVD, “ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×10” (released in April 2010), which sold 477,000 copies in the first week, was the previous record for the amount of copies sold in the first week, they have now broken their own record with the new live DVD. This also marks the 7th time a music DVD from Arashi has topped the chart, and it’s the 5th consecutive one that has done so.

Below is the Top 5 all-time highest selling music DVD sales for the first week:

This DVD will sell more copies than many artists can ever dream their albums will : o

the DVD is not cheap to me since it's priced at 5,600 Yen but it doesn't stop people from buying & when you have a 1st press item attached to the DVD

everyone as I will say in my country's own Singlish dingo , everyone all will become kan cheong spiders where they will just chiong & attack in full force & crash all the online sites in order to secure a 1st press copy

CD + DVD LE of their singles are not spared either

618,000 copies of a 5,600-yen DVD set of the concert? That's quite a lot - including taxes, that's already almost 3.5 billion yen made out of this! Of course there's tax, but then the rest comes to how they will distribute the tax-paid money to the five members, the management and the crew...

And this is even higher than all but one of Arashi's first-week single sales!

I'm also happy for Arashi...but you know, personally I'm not surprised or impressed by them anymore, because such things happen to Arashi on a daily basis.

So when they made #1 in this or that ranking again, I can only say: "Yeah, so what? It's nothing new."

I think the only way Arashi can surprise me, is if they don't make #1 on the charts one day! :D

Three Arashi members, Ohno Satoshi, Aiba Masaki, and Matsumoto Jun, have been starring in KIRIN’s low-malt beer CM for “Tanrei GREEN LABEL“, and starting today, on February 4th (in Japan), the new CM for the product has started airing.

The new CM is titled, “Ninomiya’s Appearance Version“, and as the title says, Ninomiya Kazunari makes an appearance in it.

The effect of Arashi’s manga pictures in Asahi Shimbun

While newspapers struggle with dipping sales, special Arashi pages in Asahi Shimbun have had everyone and sales buzzing, reports J-CAST News on February 4.

The newspaper feature “ARASHI Meets MANGA 僕らの肖像 (Bokura no Shozou)” took up eight pages of the national newspaper on February 3. Each Arashi member had been drawn into manga form by a manga writer who was responsible for creating one of their drama roles. Taiyo Matsumoto (鉄コン筋クリート, Tekkon Kinkreet), Chica Umino (ハチミツとクローバー, Hachimitsu to Clover), Yoko Kamio (花より男子, Hana yori Dango), Kenji Nagatomo (Bartender), and Fujiko Fujio A (怪物くん, Kaibutsu-kun).

It has been reported Asahi Shimbun’s advertising office had stated they ran the special because the group were Japan’s tourism navigators, and one of their responsibilities is to promote Japan to the overseas market.

“Arashi have been given the task to send out a message to people overseas about what makes Japan unique while these manga writers have already shown they can send powerful messages overseas. Our aim was to show people how amazing Japan is by getting these two groups to collaborate,” they said.

It has been reported the special was run because it was a chance for the newspaper to do something big and would help pull in younger readers. Another reason might have also been because it was a good way to promote Masaki Aiba’s new drama “Bartender”.

Either way, when the newspaper hit stands on February 3, it became so popular that a growing number of train station newspaper stands had sold out of all of their copies.

The newspaper soon became a popular topic on Twitter, where a number of fans and non-fans tweeted about the special.

“I’m not an Arashi fan, but this is amazing.”

“It really is, yesterday’s special was fun.”

It has been reported Asahi Shimbun had received more than 100 calls by lunch time on February 4 from people asking where to get a copy of the February 3 newspaper, and others had called to thank the newspaper.

“I hope you can do more fun specials like this.”

“I’m going to save this newspaper forever.”

The manga pictures of Arashi were printed on FM Premium paper, which is whiter than normal newspaper materials.

Total sales of Arashi’s 10 music DVDs exceed 4 million copies

Arashi’s live DVD, “ARASHI 10-11 TOUR ‘Scene’~Kimi to Boku no Miteiru Fukei~ STADIUM“, which was released on January 26th, topped the Oricon Weekly DVD Chart two weeks in a row.

Previously, we reported that the live DVD sold 618,000 copies in a week, and including this week’s sales, now 677,000 copies have been sold in total.

Moreover, adding the sales of this week, the total sale figures of the 10 music DVDs that Arashi have released has now exceeded four million copies. This is the record for music DVD total sales by any artist.

Below is the Top 3 list for overall music DVD sales by artist:

1. Arashi – 4,014,000 copies

2. Morning Musume – 2,288,000 copies

Sakurai Sho & Ninomiya Kazunari play with “dogs” in NINTENDO 3DS CM

New CMs for NINTENDO 3DS upcoming game software, “nintendogs + cats“, in which Arashi members Sakurai Sho and Ninomiya Kazunari star, were revealed on its official site. ”nintendogs + cats” is a real-time pet simulation video game which will be released on February 26th.

There are three different CMs released, and in the CMs, Sakurai plays with a Toy Poodle named “Ran”, while Ninomiya takes a Shiba Inu which he named “Arashi.”

I really like Aiba's acting and I find his serious side very appealing! :D

oh really ? my sister has seen the 1st episode of Bartender & she said she's not impressed with the story plot in that it's quite similiar to Kami no Shizuku , other than the alcohol connection & already before the show ends , she roughly will able to guess how the finale will turn out to be , LOL D:

This's not what I said but my sister told me that she feels Bartender is really overhyped , like what Ryusei no Kizuna & Freeter experienced & she also add on that if not for Aiba & Nino in each of the cast for each drama , the dramas wouldn't get decent if not high ratings

She has seen all 3 dramas but I haven't so I don't know how to comment in a situation like this D:

^ Well, I have not seen this "Kami no Shizuku" so I can't say anything about it, but personally I think "Bartender" is quite interesting. It might not be the most interesting drama ever, but I think it has potential to get better with each episode.
The preview of the second episode looked very promising!

Oh, your sister didn't like "Freeter"? I loved it, because it was so realistic - I can imagine something like this happening for real. Also the characters were very true-to-life.
"Ryusei no Kizuna" was okay. I think it was a bit too long and got boring after a while.
The funny thing is that I actually like Nino's movies better than his dramas! :D


"Maou" will always stay my favourite drama starring an Arashi-member. Followed by "My Girl" and "Freeter". Ah, and the "The Quiz Show" was great too.

I just watched the PV and I'm in love. First of all, I love the choreography. It has so much energy and I like that. I also like the bittersweet feeling of the video - everything is so pale and I can't help feeling a bit sad watching it, but it's not a bad sadness (yes, I know I'm weird! :D).

I also love their outfits in the video, especially Riida's (I had to force myself not to look only at them at the group scenes! :D).
And I love the cherry tree that is growing out of the wall. :heart

It was also my first time listening to the whole song and - thank you Arashi - I'm addicted to "Lotus" now.


Now I can't wait to watch them perform this song at "Music Station" next Friday!!!

Weekly entertainment magazine Ori Star recently announced the results of its latest survey, asking for their fans’ favorite song by their favorite artist.

Arashi top’s track was “Monster”, the theme song to the drama “Kaibutsu-Kun” which stars member Ohno Satoshi. When asked why they chose this song, one fan replied, “I can’t help but love the impact of the song and their cool dancing.” To round off the top three tracks for Arashi, ”Monster” was followed by “truth” and “Troublemaker”.

Okay~~ please somebody tell me, that I'm not the only one, who is disappointed with "Boom Boom".
I was expecting a song like "Sakura Sake" or "Attack it!" and I'm really sad, that it turned out like this. :(

I mean, it's not a bad song - I like it (Riida sounds so great in this song! :heart) - but I was looking forward to the Sakurap sooooo much and then they auto-tune it! We can hardly hear Sho's voice and the auto-tune sounds terrible.


But whatever...I'm still quite satisfied with this single. "Lotus" is awesome (the song and the PV!), "Boom Boom" is nice and "ever" is an okay-ballad.
I hope, Arashi will have more upbeat songs in the future! :yes

I'm kind of liking "Lotus" a bit! Seems similar to "truth" and "Monster"...

i kinda always wanted to hear what arashi sounded like with auto-tune, and now we get "Boom Boom" and not everyone likes it. :roflmao although while i love the song, i do admit it's not their best b-side. but i still like & enjoy it, lol. :P i think "Mou Ippo" from Troublemaker is ultimately better, if you compare the first single of 2010 to 2011.

this time round , Lotus's B-sides are not very strong/prominent as their other singles imo but the A-side is superb

I have a feeling it wouldn't be long before a new album will surface ? we'll see

it seriously feels like yesterday when BnMF came out, though! i even remember the day the album leaked! :roflmao it's crazy! i feel like they'll release one more single (despite having 5 singles already) and then a new album, lol. :P or they'll just release an album and that's it, which is still fine. either one of those 2 options would make the most sense, since arashi can't release 2 more singles to make...8 singles all together. :dead

edit: i'm reading youtube comments on Lotus, and one user mentioned something about the dance. in the opening, the way they dance is like aiba's the bird and the other 4 guys are his wings! or the way they dance in the opening is like a flower blooming or something, lol. whiever way you interpret it, i think this dance is one of arashi's creative and great dances in awhile! i can't stop watching the PV just to see them dance! :heart

Personally I think that the choreography in the beginning is supposed to show a blooming lotus...at least that's the way I see it! :yes

honestly from all the Johnny's that I support/listen & let alone watch their PVs & live performances , ARASHI's dance moves are probably the hardest to mimic if not follow

theirs's not straight forward & clear cut unlike NEWS & Hey ! Say ! JUMP but it's just so D: , especially in the PVs for We can make it ! , truth , Crazy Moon & then now Lotus :x

i think the PVs with the hardest dance moves would be truth, Crazy Moon, and Lotus. even kitto daijoubu, maybe. but i can't dance AT ALL so anything would be hard for me to follow, LOL. :laugh but arashi have really unique dance moves, for sure!! :P
