Amuro Namie reveals details on collaboration album, “Checkmate!”

The Queen of Hip-Pop has just revealed exciting new information about her upcoming collaboration album!

Amuro Namie’s newest album will be titled “Checkmate!”, and it features a variety of huge names, including AI, Yamashita Tomohisa, Kaname (CHEMISTRY), and the Korean girl group, After School.

Although Amuro had previously mentioned that she would like to film a music video with a male artist, fans of both Amuro and Yamapi were shocked to see the two names together. The two first met on a music television program in the summer of 2010, which left a deep impression on the pop star. “His performance of his solo song was really fantastic,” she said of the famous NEWS member.

When questioned about choosing the Korean group After School, Amuro stated, “I’ve been keeping my eye on the Korean music scene for a while now.” The collaboration between the nine-member girl group will mark the first time that After School will be releasing music in Japan.

the song sounds so amazing and Namie looks like a queen, I love it! I think this is going to be her best collab yet. honestly I wasn't a huge fan of her collabs but Wonder woman and make it happen sound soo amazing!

my gut feeling's that avex HK/Taiwan might not make an OS press for Checkmate ! :no , given that it's filled with collaborations , so with the whole license royalty fees in place

they didn't make for Kumi's OUT WORKS so I will not be surprised if the same thing's going to happen for Checkmate ! too :tired

I agree. It seems like they all couldn't be on the set of the music video together at the same time so they had to just film them individually and paste them together in the video. I'm thinking even at the end they're just copy & pasted next to each other too. pretty much disappointed with this video, it doesn't live up to the amazing song.

Anyways I've been for this collab album the whole time, only negatives I have to say about it is the Wonder Woman pv...talk about boring, song is alright though like I've said before, I more excited to hear Unusual and to see Make It Happen.

I love anna in this. I was a bit bored with her look in her other videos from Rule (besides brave vibration and believe in love) but I like her look in this. I have to say though that this video was pure amateurish, boring, and unoriginal. It consisted solely of them all getting in and out of elevators, sitting in a car, and walking. I agree with love in music. I felt as if none of them were in the same video. Like they all filmed their parts separately and were edited in together. Because besides 2 or 3 scenes, they were all by themselves. With a song called "Wonder Woman" you think they would do a really cool looking video. This didn't even have a story line.

I'm ok with the pv, I fell in love with the song and that's all that matters

I agree. The chorus has a lot of bang but you don't see any of that in the video. They're gonna be wonder women by hiding in dark parking lots and elevators? That doesn't sound very convincing.

I'm just curious about Namie's new tattoo, I noticed it after it was mentioned by someone here and now it's bothering me, couldn't get a good look at it, and furthermore quality of the pv isn't great, have to wait for a dvd rip to make a still.

good song, love Anna and Namie...ok video but honestly i don't hear Namie's voice as clearly as the other two maybe because they have somewhat stronger voices with Anna as a more rock tone and Ai as a strong R&B vocal.
