evolution is my all time favourite Ayu song, and very special to me in the sense it was the first song I heard by her.... I hate the chance of it being tarnished with a newer, and possible not as good version.

A new recording or mix would totally defeat the purpose of picking the song in the first place. Because there really was a true reason and artistic purpose behind picking the song, I hope it is used throughout the film and not just in the credits. Can't wait for full trailer which will certainly have a clip of evolution! Although it looks like there are TWO theme songs. I am guessing the other one is a new song and possibly the end credits theme?

I would love a rerecording of evolution to make up for the awful vocals and mediocre mix of the original version. But there's a reason the original version was chosen for the film and it should be used. A rerecording can be on a best-of someday.

I think TK would do an awesome job at remaking the song. Actually I would love a whole album of remakes arranged by TK...omg Loveppears with globe type production would be amazing.

just saw the trailer yesterday! really wanna watch this movie now, and some part of it like when they show a bunch of magazines with all Eriks face on it reminded me of Ayu! the one from her documentary back in 2004,theres one part from when she was busy preparing and promoting for the "A Best" album release where she challenged herself to do all the photoshoot for 40 magazines front cover! :yes

Okay so I've been hearing all this news about Helter Skelter and I finally got around to reading the manga (all in one sitting, it's not a very long manga at all).

So... thoughts after reading the manga:

-Evolution is the perfect song for this movie. The lyrics make so much sense.
-Erika is the perfect actress for the lead ... I can see the connection between Erika's celebrity image and Ririko's.
-The manga itself.... was pretty awful. I felt like I was reading some super-smutty pornography, honestly. Way too over the top in all aspects (Yeah. I get it that that's what the manga was trying to show.) I have a lot more negative things to say about this manga, but I don't think this is the place to go into detail about it haha. The manga totally reminded me of the love child of the movies "Death Becomes Her" and "All About Eve."
-The above being said, I am really curious to see how the movie will turn out based on how graphic the manga is...

^The manga was graphic but it was amazing how the author still "hid" it. Like gave away enough so we got what the graphic image was, but never completely show something.

Hoping that evolution is remastered again.

Not sure if I'd like to see a 'modern' version of it, as I was disappointed with the 10th anniversary versions of Depend on you, etc.

I'm the complete opposite, as I loved all the 10th Anniversary versions, except for the "Who..." one (her vocals for it on A BALLADS were so much better). While I love "evolution" as it is, I would definitely love to hear a version with more refined vocals. And if the new version would turn out to be bad, I can simply ignore its existence.
In any case, I haven't read the manga and I haven't ever seen the actress before, but the movie does look interesting. I'm hoping there will be some kind of international release for this. Being able to get a DVD of it with English subtitles would also be good, as I generally don't put too much faith in the illegal download-version when it comes to video- and subtitle quality.

I don't really see a point of rerecording the song and I don't think she should. It's fine the way it is :) Instead she should concentrate on new works.

^ I think the remastered version of M on A COMPLETE was actually among the rare remastered tracks in which you could actually tell a difference between the new one and the original as they kinda killed off the guitar part. If I remember well most of the A BEST 2 tracks were re-mastered.

Its not the ending theme and in Japanese is listed as the "main theme". Not to mention, as I said, the instrumental is being included on the soundtrack *score*(the original instrumental music played throughout) CD (the other song, the ending theme song is not included on this). So it is probably going to be used as such. So not 100% sure but it is most likely probably.

Would be cool if it was a real Instrumental with no ghost vocals on it.

Could delay movie release. Really unfortunate if this proves to be true. Japan is crazy when it comes to drugs, Ayu's song could even be pulled due to negative connection.

I don't know her but I googled her and on her Wikipedia page there are a few scandals listed (and not just hate groups who started a rumor, but REAL scandals; like one time there was a premiere of a movie (forgot the name) and she acted all arrogant, bitter and cold towards everyone. Then after a day or something she apologized.

They do have the death penalty but given they've still got Aum members serving time rather than facing death I doubt taking drugs is a fast path to capital punishment. Murder only.

About the death sentence for carrying drugs, I'm not sure about Japan. Bit in Singapore, if you are caught carrying a certain amount of drugs, you will be sentence to death.

I hope that is just a bad rumor.
