That may be so but doesn't photoshopping her more to fix it to what the individual likes further deviate from the reality of what she actually looks like. I'm not saying fans can't photoshop or that they don't look good or better. But it seems a little hypocritical to me to complain about the photshop making her look bad or unnatural and then photoshop her even more to the point the photos don't even look the same anymore and calling it "better" when it looks nothing like her actual self (as when she took the photo). I'm not criticizing. I'm just wondering, what if the pic is a result of ayu looking like ayu and not too much photoshop? If we do little fixes and edits, are we saying ayu isn't pretty enough? Doesn't look good enough?

People are posting pics of the Vivi cover with altered make up and lightening her tan, so the picture I posted isn't exactly unnecessary :/

I'm tryin' to tell people, ayu does not have this perfectly ideal nose. At this angle, its just a little more awk and maybe the photoshop too, but its not that serious and not somebody elses nose lol.

I think the original photo looked absolutely lovely and natural, there's just a tiny bit of poor photo editing/airbrushing going on. Other than that, can't see why most ahs'ers wouldn't like it for that fact; the no. 1 reason people here dislike a photo of her is because it looks unnatural in some way or another.

she is pretty enough, just for gods sake tone down the tan that's all that actually bugs me lol she looks way older. well in my point of view she looked freaky in the original, maynly because of bad make-up, so I fixed that. I've not touched her face shape her eye shape or her smile i only fixed the colors. And honestly if she wants to look like overburned cookie, alright, if that's supposedly in fashion right now xD even in the pic with Leslie she looked awfully bad because of the fake tan and that lisptic. The photoshopped version of mine is just my basic view of what I call a "fresh face" that's all, and we all know that she had this face in millions of covers.
And one more thing, the potos of the original and the edit do look the same, just tonned down a lot, that's all.
Plus i dunno why girls think that eavilly tanned skin and pink pale lipstic is a good combination. Many make-up artists will tell you that if you want to look fresh, don't use that. Everyone knows that verry ill people have pale colorless lips, and that heavilly tanned skin eventually makes you look way older than you are, so add these two and you get an ill person with too much tan.

Maybe i did went overboard with retouching that pic now when i tried differently, but really all they need to do was to get her face match the body skin tone and don't use that pale pink lisptic and she instantly looks more fresh.

also on the pic someone posted here, the nose is visibly altered so are the lips.......they kinda look squeezed *shrugs*

I dunno...Maybe i'm like that because tanning is not healthy for skin whatsoever, and seeing Ayu like that, knowing she is looked at as an icon for fashionistas and giving this heavilly tanned look as a "good looking, healthy" thing is a bit scarry, knowing how many girls will follow that trend. i dunno....

Who photoshops these images for Vivi? Ayu's team or the magazine? If she's looking weird (the random white line on her face lol) on everything, it's not photoshop, it's bad make-up. Maybe she should replace them before a photoshop team. It's like they wiped vaseline over her face or something to make her super shiny.

The photo isn't bad, her nose looks very unusual though, and that's more to do with bad makeup/photoshp. I seriously think that the photographer just can't do photoshop properly, so a lot of these images we are getting look too distorted and artificial, but if he didn't edit them as much, they would look great.

The edit thaat Artika did was actually really nice and wasn't an issue for me. I don't like green eyeshadow and pale lips, so that's propbably why I liked it so much.

Gorgeous!! Ugh, I just get so mad when people who have brown eyes, the most hypnotic type of eyes, and they cover them up with some ugly false eye color. Especially when it's blue!! Blue eyes are so overrated. I have them and I wish I had brown!

Lol what? I don't think there's anything wrong with any eye color. Or anything special about one particular one. I have brown eyes, dark brown hair, and skin...nothing "hypnotic" about brown eyes there.

It's all pretty subjective and I'm sorry that your eyes aren't as "hypnotic" or anything else thats relevant to that. Ayu's eye color is perfect to me, and I get what Zeke is saying, she doesn't need blue eyes. I also get the whole hypnotic look which people with brown eyes have. Though it seems to be the new fashion among celebrities to wear eyecolor altering contacts idk.

@RayJason: it is subjective. I love my eyes and ayu's natural eye color, but I don't see a reason to basically call blue eyes inferior to brown. But if that's how people feel, I just say, I'll let you do you. Sometimes, apparently here too, people like something different from what they have tbh. :shrug ayu doesn't need blue eyes or anything, but I like her having her contacts. She looks gorgeous regardless imo.

A reason why she's using the colored contacts so often now is probably because she has her Sweet Days products to promote. She's probably also using her lashes every so often too.

Usually with a magazine shoot the photographer will clean up the image a little and then hand it off to the magazine's photo editors for all the other photoshop work that has to be done.

However in some cases some publications have the photographer edit the images and then have their own copy writer (person who works specifically on text on ads, magazine covers, ect.) place the text on it.

Also I'm not trying to make any excuses but for those who do not like the angle or how she looks...blame the people from the magazine for that because they are the ones that give a layout to the Photographer and the person who is being photographed in which they have to go by.

Also the magazine is the one to usually hire the stylist and make up artist (however I believe the make up and nailist are usually people from Ayu's team) and have them bring in the clothes and do the make up how they (the magazine editors) in vision it for the shoot. Like having Ayu go with a fake tan and blue contacts.

For ViVi since they want Ayu as the Queen of Summer they are going to definitely make sure the cover has a Summer feel, aka fake tan. of course to me for some reason I also think the long blonde hair and blue contacts give the image a Summer feel too...well ViVi looks like your idea paid off, for me anyways.

Back to the cover, I personally like the cover however there would be a few things here and there that I would change but overall I'm okay with it.

Edit: After looking at the bigger version there are still some slight things I would change but I like it more seeing the large image.

lol. I guess it's just a personal preference that they do that? I have brown eyes but when I was younger I wanted blue or green contacts to cover them up so I could fit in with most of my friends. However, I've grown to love my eye color especially since I like the fact that their such a deep brown they almost look black. I've never seen anyone call brown eyes the most hypnotic type of eyes but as a person with brown eyes I'll take it!

^I'm not entirely sure about that because looking at some of the other magazine covers from the past few months the cover models don't always look plastic. But, even if it was the trend to look plastic it still comes down to the people who are in charge of the media in which the photo is used for.

It feels more like a "California beach girl" than summer girl to me (but that kind of girl is pretty much the image of summer) but that might just be me!

Well it comes down to blue eyes being "the golden standard" for most people, where as my personal preference is brown. So when something is so highly regarded by people, it becomes annoying. Ayu's eyes are the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life and it just irks me to no end that she covers them up with God-awful lenses. It's like she is lowering the limit on how beautiful she can look.

I understand it's someone's own body / looks, etc. But I remember when all the blondes in my school and basically the world were going dark brown. I hated it. I remember thinking one day at school about this girl "she is one chick who looks amazing as a blonde - I hope she never falls into this fad of dark hair" - and the next day, she shows up to school with brown hair. Ugh.

I just can't help but feel "grrrr" when someone doesn't take advantage of their beauty... Lol.

I love it love it love it... except those damn contacts. Someone needs to tell Ayu that she looks better without. Her eyes look bigger with out them.

I think any eye color can be gorgeous and produce interesting effects. I don't think it matters to Ayu that she isn't looking "as gorgeous as she possibly can" (I guess depending on who's looking).

I think...well there's at least a few people here that should remember that anything can look beautiful and anyone can be beautiful. Just because you're born with a certain something, doesn't mean you can't have something else....and if you do choose to have something else, it doesn't mean that you're saying anything negative about anything.

It is trendy nowadays to look Western. A long time ago Japanese people liked narrow eyes and dark hair.

Pretty fine with me, although her face looks off... Like some plastic doll. Then again, she always looks like that entire time either in photo magazine, album, etc. But I must say she pull out a great smile in this shoot.

I know exactly what you mean and I don't mean for it to come off as such. I am one of those people who hate it when people "dislike something for the sake of disliking it". I always say "DISLIKING something just because everyone else likes it is just as dumb as LIKING something because everyone else likes it"

That is not my reason for disliking; it just irks me when someone is giving up what I think is the best thing for something that just seems so ... overrated. I know it's opinion this vs. opinion that, but I always feel very strongly about my opinions as I am a very passionate person. I love Japanese things, I love Japanese woman. I love huge eyes and maybe that was embedded in me the years I grew up on anime. I have always been drawn to eyes - the bigger, the better and the darker, the larger they appear. When there is so much iris it is hard to get lost in them and look past the surface, but with huge brown eyes, it's as if you could just swim in them.

Might sound weird but, brown eyes make my heart sink (in a good way) and I feel such a radiant feeling inside my heart.

The way you put it yourself is exactly how I feel: I feel as if the person, whoever they may be (in this case Ayu), is just "fall(ing) into the trap of average people"

Experimenting is fun and it is important that you look just like you feel inside. I have always liked how Ayu tries different styles and haircuts but I don't think that blue eyes look well on her. Maybe she should try a different color? I liked the green which she once had.
