Did Ayu ever sing Meaning of Love live?

~angel*ayumi~ 25th May 2015 06:34 PM

She sang it at RnRC Tour, but only on a few dates, so itīs not on the DVD

truehappiness 25th May 2015 07:59 PM

I think all the songs from Rock'n'Roll Circus were performed at one point, just not all of them made it to DVD sadly.

DonkeyKongRemix 26th May 2015 05:37 AM

Well, I'm glad to know that. I like Meaning of Love. I think the background music is catchy. :D

Beloved and Meaning of Love are like some of the most generic ballads she has, but I like them regardless. Sometimes generic songs are easy and fun to listen to when I need music in the background while I work on my comics. :D

Zeke. 26th May 2015 07:10 AM

For me, Meaning of love is amongst the worst. It is one of the very very few AYU songs I have actually deleted from my collection entirely. I was constantly annoyed by it.

Beloved on the other hand, was just dull. Eventually I gave the orchestra version a chance and ended up replacing the original on FIVE with that version in my collection.

What I really want to hear from Ayu/her team is a big mash-up of some of her biggest hits. I'm thinking something along the lines of the video that Namie used to promote Ballada--they mashed parts of every track from the album together but edited it into the length of a single song. idk Ayu's team kind of tried it with the summer mash-up on the Sunrise/Sunset single but they pretty much just phoned it in, lol. Anyway, this is the Namie video I'm talking about:

Haha, I am totally not surprised to hear you say that. I didn't start enjoying Meaning of Love until I heard the orchestra version and I learned to like the melody of it.

I think on Rock n Roll circus, I prefer Sunset ~LOVE is all~ to the other ballady songs on there. But when it comes to ballads, I can't make much sense out of the ones I like most and the ones I don't care about.

Omg thank you very much. When I arrive at the pc I'll download it.

edit: wow, her vocals on Meaning of love are so good. Too bad that it only shows a part of the song.

Can someone tell me if the 320 TeamAyu version at Jpopsuki is legit? It has some VERY noticeable static noise after The Show Must Go On Ends. Also, when comparing to rips of other albums, A ONE seems to have less of an impact and power behind it.

If you have a different rip, can you notice the static?

I ripped the album from my copy of the CD and yes, I can hear the static, but only when I turn the volume very high. Same as jpopsuki.

There are issues converting FLAC. Like, it's a lot more complicated than it sounds, something about "Truncating" I think.

HarukaKamiya 27th May 2015 05:40 AM

never had any problems with any of my converters from FLAC to mp3 for my friends but then again I'm strictly a lossless person unless it involves my ipod so *shrug*

rainbow_smile 27th May 2015 11:25 AM

ummm....is she wearing platform shoes with that dress? I just now noticed. Maybe I'm wrong but if she is, that would be strange. Maybe, just maybe I'm being knit-picky.

If I could go back in time to any of her concerts, it would be that one. I love the lighting, the eery mood, and the non-corniness it has, as well as her raw vocals.

orbitalaspect 1st June 2015 09:04 AM

So, I listened to again today. And I kept skipping back to the parts on Wake me up where Ayu goes, "gel up, gel up, come on gel up, gel up" and I laughed and said "gel up" for awhile.

I also noticed how Melody has one of the most boring melodies I have ever heard. I half-wondered if Ayu was sitting around one day thinking, Hey, I wonder if I can write a song more boring than crossroad, something that takes up 6 minutes but feels like 12.

I miss Sweet scar though. It felt like a throwback to Secret era and I liked how it was just a simple track, a la JEWEL or curtain call, but it had more life than songs like Don't look back.

I listen to A ONE almost daily. I like Anything for You and Walk, but strangely I have actually listened to Story twice as many times as any other track on that album. I think the intro gets stuck in my head from time to time. It is very similar to meaning of Love, just not absolute shit.

I also hope Ayu gets a little more creative with PVs. Its been years since she released a PV that was more than glamour shots and lipwork. I'd love to see PVs with environments, stories, like No way to say, forgiveness, BALLAD... There's also this part of me yearning for Ayu to do another anime PV. I'd like to see her do a song like t.A.T.u. Gomenasai and have a cool anime PV to accompany it... It would give me something to lean on. I loved the Gomenasai PV because it reminds me of curling up with my ex, in his comforter, in the back seat of his Corolla at 3 a.m. in a park's parking lot, and watching GITS before we squeezed ourselves into the most comfortable positions possible then went to sleep. It was the only way we could spend the night together because we both lived with family and didn't want them to know about our relationship until we felt like it wasn't just some glorified dating thing. He used to tell me an episode of GITS to watch when we couldn't see each other and I was sad and lonely, and he would sometimes ask me to send him a picture so he knew I was feeling better. I miss that guy so much, but I hope he is happier in New York. We had a good two years. As selfish as this sounds, I really want Ayu to release something that gives me a sense of closure... One song and PV that I know I can go back to and remember things and feel okay that its all just memories now. July will be two years since we separated, and I still haven't found that feeling that its okay he left and I can move on. Ayu helped a lot in my other relationships. I hope she does something that helps again.

Anyway... Dark turn there. Sorry. Just Ayu-related and personal thoughts. Haven't talked to any acquaintances or friends in almost three weeks, don't keep many these days anyway. So, it just comes out wherever it comes out.

So, anyone else hoping Ayu gets a little more Ayu on this new mini album?

Also, looking back at these last several years, especially at Colours, I just feel this weird sense that it all fits Ayu a little bit more than I initially thought. And I wonder if Ayu may have bounced back like Namie if she stuck to one of the new sounds she's tried over the last 6 years... I guess we may never know. But remember how Namie did QoHP then kept the same sound for PLAY and just kept going, and this massive leap in sales followed? I wonder if that could have been Ayu if she just stuck with one of the new sounds.

@orbitalaspect
That's so bittersweet :( I also happened to have a personal love life experience with Ayu song 'playing in the background', her songs really helped through that life time.

And I agree, it's been awhile since she released a PV like what you mentioned, a PV with story *cough*notcountingLOVEagaintrilogy*cough*, and I missed those kind of PVs so much.

Story seems to match your story, if she made a good PV for it, maybe it would've been your closure.

I've been doing English lyric videos of some of Ayumi's songs (I've done ever free, Voyage, and more than half of No More Words which I haven't gotten around to finishing). I want to do a lyric video of a Song for XX from A Ballads but I can't decide on an image to use as the background. ever free was easy since I just used a photo of a hill to go with the song.

I can't decide if I should use an image of Ayu or something else. XD

Melody is one of Ayu's best ballads in recent years IMO. It's so sweet and simple.

LOL!! I do enjoy Crossroad (apart from that random high pitched sound effect towards the end before the song kicks back in. It sounds so out of place!) but Melody really does have quite an unforgettable melody.

And hey orbitalaspect spill all you want!

Zeke. 1st June 2015 11:51 PM

I also enjoyed the part about Wake Me Up and repeating the lyrics as how they sound, mimicking the vocalist and laughing. I do that often too, haha.

Does anyone here remember that MOON was avaible to download/stream (not sure) right after Rock'n'Roll Circus came out? I kinda remembered this today, cause the first time I heard it, the quality was terrible and I thought the song was totally meh, until Love songs came out and I listened properly to it. Do you guys remember how you could get to listen to it? I can't really recall how it worked...

I'm pretty sure in my case, I first heard it in the commercial it was used for and I thought it was so effing epic! XD I barely listen to it now probably since Love Songs is still on my list of albums to buy but I do love MOON quite a bit still. But I still giggle when I think about how cool I thought it was.

Hehe, by the way. I can't help but laugh at the super corny intros to Who and Boys & Girls on Ayu-mi-x 4 Acoustic Orchestra... Especially Who... that one is just great. It definitely sounds kind of like a cheesy movie soundtrack song from the 90s.... But the rest of it is pretty!

Bigtop 2nd June 2015 04:19 AM

Regarding the TeamAyu magazine, physically...that's for Japanese members, not foreign members, right?

chocopockymaster 2nd June 2015 11:57 AM

They phased out the membership option that included physical fanclub magazines before opening up global membership, so yes. I think everything will be digital starting with the next TA mag release.

chocopockymaster 3rd June 2015 01:16 AM

That's funny, since Maro was in the PV for that song too...but he wasn't with Zin, he was with Naoya (of AT2005 and the dorama Last Cinderella fame)

RIP his hotness :cry

another song the remix safed for me. I prefer it to the original

Zeke. 4th June 2015 02:48 PM

I like the remix, but it's for a different time and place and atmosphere. crossroad, the original, does have its time and place. Usually early, early autumn. Sometimes I listen in spring when the environment calls for it.

Yeah. It is a great song, but it does drag over the middle section. I remember thinking, Oh this is tolerable, but when Melody came around, I honestly thought Ayu was deliberately draining her music of energy or real tired that month.

Anyway you spin it, it was 100x better than Ayu's Valley Girl crisis of late 2012. I have no clue what possessed Ayumi to become 6 shades darker and sing like a baby on You & Me, but I'm so glad that era is over. Does anyone know if she fired the person that brushes her hair during that period? I was pretty surprised by how ratchet her hair looked. I was expecting dread wax, but instead noticed that she stuck clips in her hair to distract from its desperation to be brushed and styled. I call these years Ayu The Explorer because she was a few Spanish words, a hot cousin, and a few pounds off from being Dora.

Obviously, I can't speak for her since I am not Ayu but it seemed to me that she was taking drastic measures to adjust to changes in her life. So, going for a rather extreme image may have been a part of that.

Btw, I just Googled ジャレード and apparently it's a shipping company?

Zutto.. pv is so beautiful. I.ve rewatched it now and I realised I somehow missed the animated ayu parts x...x I can.t explain myself how ))
The frozen part is amazing. One of her best pv moment ever. When I was seeing that ice and coldness, I remembered why I admire ayu so much. Cuz she always takes risks for her work to be done in the best possible way.

As we were talking about dance moves for the last few days, she also did some ballet ones on this pv. Reminds me of the tissue dance. She felt comfortable doing those, so its not impossible for her to dance.

That wasn't her dancing. It was a double.

Delirium-Zer0 9th June 2015 03:56 AM

She had ballet training and yet still needed a body double for her dancing on "Miseinen." I mean... that should really tell you something about what level of natural talent she might have. lol

Andrenekoi 9th June 2015 06:01 AM

Well... Ballet training is something you will need over a decade at least to be any good... I don't think she ever trained it for that long...

Most of the people that are really good dancers at 15, 16 were training since they were on theirs 5 or 6...

I can totally understand any criticism of Daybreak's PV. Like, I even sympathize with it. But, I just love that PV. I can't even explain it.

I just adore HAL's mix of Daybreak. It is so perfect to me. I remember falling in love with the original version of the song and then listening to HAL's mix. I love that I can enjoy both versions equally. :O

If I could try and put into words what I love about that PV.... I think that her wardrobe is so strange. It's not flattering necessarily and the dark make up with it makes her looks like a ghost. And honestly, I totally understand when people say it looks kind of like she's all covered in toilet paper. But, I wouldn't want it any different.

The video is all about the lyrics, at least that's what if feels like to me. It's not about being super flashy but rather it holds this sincerity and heartfelt emotions in it. Her outfit almost makes her seem otherworldly.

axmish87 12th June 2015 08:43 PM

That PV is also my favorite and also I love that version of Daybreak slightly more that one on the album.
Simple yet holds your attention to the very end

chocopockymaster 12th June 2015 11:07 PM

Everything about the Daybreak PV is perfect, idgaf what anyone says

paper_doll 12th June 2015 11:16 PM

Yeah, I like it too. That version of the song is also way better than the album version.

chocopockymaster 13th June 2015 12:03 AM

The two versions feel like completely different songs to me. I love them both in different ways, but Daybreak was my first Ayu CD so HAL's mix and the (amazing, tyvm) mixes on that maxi single will always have a special place in my heart. :heart

Gustavopc 13th June 2015 12:23 AM

... I never watched that PV, I dindn't even know there was another version for the video. Feeling so ashaemd of myself rn oh gosh *opening JPS*

NintendoHTF1242 13th June 2015 12:30 AM

Was listening to the acoustic orchestra version of Endless sorrow from ayu-mi-x 4 and it's so flawless like ??? She needs more acoustic guitar in her music lol

hsienko 13th June 2015 02:30 AM

Colours is such a good mini album I can't believe it took me a year to listen to it.

I thought the remix sounded a lot like Madonna's Drowned World/Substitute for Love so I always preferred the original :P.

i'm glad they're still releasing stuffs for globe. How are they even doing, I miss that group so much.

DonkeyKongRemix 13th June 2015 07:21 AM

Wow, Moments sounds really strange in that commercial to me. Like her voice is just a little off.

But I would totally buy a version of Still Alone like the one in the add.

By the way, I'm excited to see all the positive response to my Daybreak rant! XD It was one of the first songs of hers I listened to. :D

jiarongisme 13th June 2015 09:00 AM

Tbh I never knew people disliked Daybreak until I saw the article that was posted here recently. Or at least felt that that was the point where Ayu stopped being 'Ayu-like'. I've always loved that song. Being it the album or the single version. It's really uplifting.
